Unwind at Nikau Cottage, a charming vintage style, self- contained studio cottage, located on a semi-rural / beachside location. Guests will enjoy a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere, nestled within a picturesque setting.

This newly renovated cottage is only a short stroll away from Ongare Point Beach and Kauri Point Reserve, with stunning views to Matakana Island. If you enjoy catching snapper and kingfish, Kauri Point Wharf offers one of the best fishing spots in the area.

The cottage includes a complete kitchen, suitable for cooking, modern bathroom facilities, comfortable queen sized bed, with sofa bed available for extra guests. It has ample parking available and is surrounded by landscaped grounds alongside the main house.

Nikau Cottage offers easy access to many spots in the Bay of Plenty and Coromandel. Only 5 Minutes from Katikati township, supermarket and Farmer’s Market (Fri), 15 minutes from Waihi Beach – surfing, swimming, cafes, 45 minutes from Whangamata (Coromandel), 30 mins to the Karangahake Gorge bush walks; or visit Tauranga and Mount Maunganui, which are a 40 minute drive away. A great base for a short stay or extended holiday in the Bay of Plenty.

Perfect overnighter

Nikau Cottage was perfect for our overnight stay. Cosy, clean and tidy with lovely furnishings, affordable, a great location and at Kauri Pt to explore, and friendly hosts. We will definitely stay again and would recommend to friends and family.

The best cottage for a couple

We stayed here for a wedding close by and absolutely loved it. It was such a cute little place with everything we needed and more. It was cosy and inviting. The check in/out process is easy and the host has great communication. Overall a great stay!

Secluded hideaway

Loved our stay despite the rain. Very cute, beautifully decorated, private with a comfortable bed. Went on beautiful bush walks exploring the surrounding hills, we discovered beaches and a super long fishing wharf. A short drive to Katikati and not too far to Waihi Beach.

Charming and private cottage

We loved our stay here. Loved the peaceful location. Really cute cottage, a lot of thought given to the feel and comfort of the place. It was so lovely, quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Place was very neat and clean. It had everything we needed. Very special. Highly recommend.

Compact comfortable little cottage

Peaceful . Good place for a couple with a car to stay. We were visiting friends so didn’t do much very local exploring on foot . Not far from Katikati - a nice little town . Friendly welcoming host .

Nice little get away

Enoyed my little stay. Had all the utensils, towells etc. provided. The cellular reception is close to nothing was my only little gripe. But the little cottage was very accomadating and had great nearby natural scenes and cafes.

Cosy Cottage

In horrid weather we checked in late to Nikau Cottage. We were grateful for the owner's thoughtfulness in making our entry easier with a light left on and the key handy. Thank you! The cottage is cute and cosy, and more spacious than we had anticipated. Unfortunately for us the weather was so awful we couldn't comment on the actual location in relation to the water. I'm sure it is fabulous. Worked very well for us visiting friends in the area. We would definitely stay again.

Great port in a storm

We stayed at Nikau Cottage while cyclone Gabrielle was battering New Zealand. We were very comfortable in this lovely cottage in spite of the storm. We really appreciated Keith’s communications, letting us know that we could get there in spite of the weather. Keith and Rebecca were great hosts, suggesting things to do and providing a route to maximize our site seeing. Kitchen was well equipped. We prepared full meals there. Little piece of paradise!

Amazing place with everything you could want or need and more. Beautifully presented little piece of paradise. Super quiet and comfortable with the best hosts ever. Keith and Rebecca are super friendly and made us feel very welcome. According to my husband the shower in the cottage “is to die for”. We throughly enjoyed our stay and would love to visit again some day.

Perfect getaway!

Loved our stay here! Everything was perfect and the house was so cute! The hosts were lovely. It took us a while to find the fridge that we thought was a dryer! Haha! Highly recommend!
