Kick back and relax in this calm, stylish space. Te Mahana Coastal Retreat is just across the road from the white sands of beautiful Waihi Beach. Featuring a private spa pool and heated saltwater pool (heated summer months only), plus private deck with BBQ and dining area, full kitchen, 2 bedrooms and living room, the cottage has everything you need for a truly relaxing beach holiday in a resort like setting.

Te Mahana Coastal Retreat is located centrally in the middle of the 8km long white sands of Waihi Beach, voted by Lonely Planet as one of the top ten beaches in New Zealand.
The cottage is one of two guest accommodation units on the property. Featuring two bedrooms with double beds and a single pull-down bed in the living room, the cottage comfortably sleeps 5 (all linen and towels are provided). In addition to the comfortable beds and modern bathroom you will also enjoy the fully equipped kitchen, including crockery, utensils, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, stove, bench top and above all, a dishwasher! Enjoy your morning view with a coffee made with one of our Nespresso coffee machines. Extras such as a washing machine, iron and hairdryer are all provided as well.

Flowing out from the living area you will find a private deck with outdoor dining area and a Weber BBQ for your exclusive use. The cottage also has its own private spa pool and and outdoor picnic table in the rear courtyard, plus shared use of the 10m salt water swimming pool. Wander across the road for a dip in the sea, wash off in the outdoor shower, then laze in the loungers by the pool followed by a wine in the hot tub - the choices are endless .

The cottage is an ideal couple or friends getaway spot for a luxury beach retreat, or bring the kids for a fun family holiday. If you have a large family or want to invite more friends, why not also book the 3 bedroom apartment on the other side of the pool - message us for availability.

NB: There is no sea view from the cottage.

we were there for a wedding unfortunately picked the windiest and wettest 5 days ever . place would be great if the wind hadn't blown all the sand and rain into the porchIdeal for a summers day but being so wet couldn't dry our towelsoverall a real nice place excellent outdoor area beds comfortable would recommend

Why they chose this property

It's just a short walk across the road to the ocean beach, with one of Waihi Beaches better cafes the Surf Shack just a min or two down a local pathway at the end of the street. This house is also a minute or so walk from the estuary walkway that is perfect for bird watching, walking, running or biking, this 5km track runs alongside the estuary and ends at the Bowentown reserve which features a kids playground, boat ramp, restaurant and boat club where you can also grab a meal. If it's a more quiet beach you're after, Anzac Cove is a 5 min drive away, perfect for kids who don't like waves!

The beaches nearby are wonderful for walking, shell collecting, swimming, surfing or playing in the sand. There are many well equipped children’s playgrounds in the area as well as great walking and biking tracks including the famous Mountain Bike trail through the Karangahake Gorge. This trail is great for kids (or any age) you pass over bridges, through tunnels and explore the old gold mine and waterfall.

Nearby Waihi Beach village is full of boutique shops, fantastic restaurants and cafes, a small supermarket and award-winning butcher making this area full of everything you need for that perfect getaway!

This beach house is in an ideal location to explore the Bay of Plenty. Tauranga is a 1-hour drive, and Coromandel is 1.5 hours. The Karangahake Gorge is 20 min drive away for wonderful walking and exploring as well as a winery, restaurant and café, a waterfall and bike trails. Hobbiton is only an hours drive away and the famous Waitomo Caves or Rotorua both 1.5-2 hours away by car. Auckland International airport is also only 2 hours drive.
