About this property
Stonelea, cottage by the sea.
A cosy well-protected property down a cul-de-sac beside the sea in a quiet neighbourhood, Stonelea is a 2 storey wooden cottage nestled in a beautiful rock garden.
On the north side is a large covered (and shaded) outdoor living area with a Weber BBQ, great for entertaining.
The upstairs verandah is ideal for enjoying a tipple after a lovely day exploring. There's the Hauparua Inlet by kayak, or walking the country roads around here, or maybe you've been for a drive to one of the many attractions around the Bay of Islands...
On the east side is the perfect sunny morning spot for coffee and croissants.
There's a small well-appointed kitchen for foodies.
The dawn chorus is subtle and beautiful, without roosters! The bird life is always entertaining, with many tui, quail, blackbird and thrush.
"You can smell the serenity"!
Special conditions:
No pets.
Smoking allowed outside only. Please, no butts in gardens.
Tank water, so care of water usage is needed.
Septic tank system, so use only the Eco products provided please.
There are 2 generous double bedrooms, and a small bedroom with a king single. We have a foam mattress that can be made up on the floor anywhere.
NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to clean the house and do the dishes before you leave;

About the host
Hosted by Ben Tombs

We're a couple that loves to get out on the Bay of Islands on our heirloom skipjack Mary of York, Felice has a wonderful garden and studio for making crafty stuff, and Ben is a former boatbuilder now building cabinetry, structural joinery, and curious things that appeal.
Music, good food, wine and conversation is important to both of us.

Why they chose this property
Proximity to the ocean was a key reason to purchase our home in 2008. Good soil and within 10km of Kerikeri (just!). We've been in the district since 1989 and love it here, but realised the greatest asset this area has is the Bay of Islands, and we weren't close enough to it. Now it's only 50m away (at high tide!) and we can keep our vessel about 400m away. Very convenient.
It's a quiet place with no through traffic. The birds are our noisiest neighbours!
Love it.
