What makes this stay unique?
This cottage is made with many locally sourced materials such as straw bales, the loft floor and the staircase. The house construction gives the house Eco-friendly, high energy efficiency - helping to keep it warm in winter and cool in the summertime.
Water for sinks, showers and bathtub is purified and softened. Purified water is available for drinking from a dedicated spout at each sink.
In floor heating in fall and winter helps to keep everything toasty warm and cozy.
Water for the flowers & garden is supplied exclusively via a rainwater catchment system.
The property abounds with wild roses, the provincial flower of Alberta.

Photograph to your heart's content at Elk Island National Park, Blackfoot Lake Trails and Beaverhill Bird Observatory nearby. Enjoy their amazing views and wildlife. Back at the cottage prepare your evening meal and relax. Or, simply enjoy the day at home surrounded by nature and complete privacy.

This home is equipped with a full kitchen to prepare your meals.
At nightfall, stargaze under a perfectly dark sky. If conditions are ideal you will catch the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights, completely unobstructed by urban lighting. It's truly something to behold.

This is the ideal place for a scenic retreat in a wooded landscape. You will leave feeling rested and refreshed; that you have truly gotten away from it all.

In winter, enjoy the myriad of cross country ski and snowshoeing trails only minutes away. Attend the famous Canadian Birkebeiner Ski Festival then stay afterwards to ski and snowshoe to your heart's content at Blackfoot nearby. You may even catch some dog-sledding teams getting ready to hit the trails!

Kitchen supplies are provided - local farm eggs, butter, milk, flour, sugar, cooking oil, salt, pepper, tea and delicious coffee - roasted here in Alberta.

Main floor bedroom features 1 king bed; loft has 1 queen bed. Bed linen styles are changed by the season.
