About this property

Sunset House

Spacious house with gorgeous sunset views from the lanai. Beautifully decorated in a combination of Hawaiian and SE Asian style. New tile floors and tiled shower in master bedroom and bathroom. Large and nicely landscaped garden and yard including a gazebo.

The house is about a 30 minute drive from Kona airport and 15-20 minutes from the beautiful kohala coast beaches. There is a shopping center with restaurants, a grocery store and a gas station about 2 miles away. The Waikoloa Village Golf Club is just a 5 minute drive. Beach equipment and 3 sets of golf clubs are available in the garage. A/C in master bedroom only, though Waikola winds and plenty of fans keep the house cool for most of the year.

There are two feral cats that live in the backyard. They have an outdoor feeder that goes off twice a day. They are not allowed in the house.

Had a great stay here, perfect for families! Kitchen was fully stocked and great for cooking, and the rest of the house worked great for our group of 5 + an infant. Backyard was beautiful with amazing sunset views.

We stayed at this home in Waikoloa and overall had a good experience. The house is spacious and in a nice, convenient location. The backyard was a highlight, with great ocean views, and having a washer and dryer was very helpful during our stay. That said, there were a few drawbacks to be aware of. The WiFi did not work consistently in all rooms, which was challenging since cell service is limited on one side of the house. Additionally, there is only AC in one room, and without much wind the house became stuffy at times. Overall, it’s a comfortable place with great views, but a few improvements would make it even better. 7 out of 10.

The kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals plus lots of spices, sauces and oil. The lanai was beautiful surrounded by a beautiful garden. The photo on the listing is a bit deceptive. The ocean is many miles away with a busy road and homes between the rental and the water. The bedrooms and bathrooms were comfortable, plenty of sheets and towels to use. A large television with plenty of seating was nice in the living area. The house is older and not fancy. The garage had boogie boards, beach chairs, golf clubs along with other equipment to use. There are a couple of cats who live on the property. One in particular was very friendly and slept on the outdoor furniture. If you are allergic to cats, you should stay elsewhere. The host was friendly, good communication and had easy to follow instructions.

We’re sorry to hear that the location did not fully meet your expectations. Sunset House is located in Waikoloa Village, a quiet residential neighborhood approximately 8 miles from the ocean, and we do our best to clearly reflect this in the listing description. While the property is not beachfront, it does offer a peaceful setting, beautiful ocean and garden views, and very minimal road noise thanks to the landscaped garden, lava rock wall, and terraced orchard. Regarding the home itself, we aim to provide a comfortable, well-equipped space with a relaxed island feel rather than a luxury or newly remodeled experience. We also try to price the home accordingly, offering what we believe is excellent value for a three-bedroom, two-bath home with a landscaped yard, ocean view, and many extras — comparable to the cost of a standard double hotel room. We also appreciate you noting the presence of our resident cats, and we agree that guests with cat allergies may be more comfortable choosing another property. We saw some beautiful sunsets from this property ! A very nice patio area. The house is well stocked with snorkeling equipment, towels, beach items, coolers, games and so on which made our trip even more enjoyable. It is not far from a grocery store. We enjoyed our stay here.
