About this property

Private lakefront retreat with Hot Tub, Kayaks, and sunset views

Welcome to Bliss au Lac Johnson

CITQ: 320496 • Ladysmith, Quebec – just 75 minutes from downtown Ottawa in the Gatineau Hills

Tucked away on the shores of crystal-clear Johnson Lake, Bliss au Lac Johnson is a four-season retreat designed for families, friends, couples, and anyone who craves a peaceful pause from everyday life. Whether you’re here to soak in the lakeside hot tub under a sky full of stars, enjoy summer sunshine on the dock, breathe in crisp fall air as the hills glow with colour, warm your toes after a day of winter tobogganing, or watch the forest come alive in spring, this is a place to slow down and make lasting memories. From morning coffee on the deck to quiet evenings by the water, every stay here has a way of ending in bliss.

The Cottage

Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the lake, filling the cottage with natural light and serene views throughout the seasons. Two master suites, each with a king bed, offer a comfortable setup for couples, while the third bedroom with two queen beds is perfect for kids or friends to share. A twin daybed with trundle and a futon sofa provide additional sleeping space so everyone has room to settle in. Three full bathrooms, including one with a heated towel rack, make group stays simple and comfortable.

Inside, there are two cozy living rooms, each with its own smart TV, making it easy for everyone to spread out. Board games and yard games are available, and high-speed fibre internet allows you to stream, work, or stay connected if needed. The fully equipped kitchen includes dishes, utensils, coffee, tea, cooking basics, and more. The well water is filtered and safe to drink, though you may occasionally notice a grain of sand, which is natural for rural lake properties.

The Lake

Johnson Lake is known for its sandy bottom and clear, pristine water. The dock makes it easy to swim or relax, though it becomes deep quickly, reaching about five feet just a few steps out. Two kayaks and inflatable paddle boards are available for your use, along with lifejackets and floaties. Swimming is not permitted at night, but watching the sun set across the still water is unforgettable.

Outdoor Living

The property is designed for gathering and relaxing. Enjoy coffee on the spacious deck, lounge in Adirondack chairs, fire up the BBQ, or spend the evening by the lakeside fire pit. A propane fire table provides a comfortable alternative during fire bans. The newest addition, the private hot tub overlooking the lake, creates a peaceful place to unwind in every season. Winter evenings are especially special here, with the warmth of the hot tub and the quiet of the forest surrounding you. Landscaping will continue into 2025, but the yard is already a great place for kids to explore and play.

Year-Round Comfort

Summer days revolve around the water, while winter brings its own sense of calm and beauty. With fibre Wi-Fi, smart TVs, two living spaces, and plenty of cozy corners for reading or relaxing, you will feel at home indoors as well. Guests interested in skiing, snowshoeing, or skating can reach out for recommendations on nearby spots. No matter the season, the hot tub adds an unforgettable touch, whether you prefer early morning soaks or peaceful evenings under the stars.

Bringing Your Dog

Dogs are welcome for a fee. We ask that you crate pets if they are left alone indoors, clean up after them outside, and be mindful of potential damage.

Things to Keep in Mind

This is a rural property, which means a few natural quirks come with the experience. The well water is filtered and safe but may contain slight traces of sand. The cottage operates on a septic system, so only toilet paper should be flushed. Power outages are uncommon but possible; flashlights, board games, and extra water are provided. Wildlife such as deer, raccoons, squirrels, and occasionally a bear may be seen in the area. Please admire wildlife from a distance and do not feed animals. Cell service is strongest with Bell or Telus; coverage varies by provider.

Bliss au Lac Johnson is more than a cottage. It is a place to reconnect, recharge, and experience the calm of lake and forest life. Whether you are soaking in the hot tub under the night sky, paddling at sunrise, or relaxing by the fire, the hills and the water are here to welcome you.

On arrival, you are wow'd with visual beauty, the inner cottage kitchen and lvg room. Then the outside view hits you. So amazing. We adored the showers, water pressure and hot. We slept very well in those matresses, kitchen is well equipped. Everything you need for a relaxing stay is there! We went fishing using the pedal boat. It was fun, my husband fly fished using the kayak. Bonfires were comfortable in those adirondackchairs. And the swimming was excellent for us 4 adults. We spent hours in the lake on a daily basis. We highly recommend this place! And we hope to go back. We made some beautiful memories.
