Upon arrival, it became very clear this was someone’s full-time residence that had briefly been… loaned to us. Think almost-empty lotion bottles still hanging on for dear life, closets and dressers full of clothes, and some very personal items displayed front-and-center near the master bedroom door. It felt less like a BNB and more like we’d walked in while the homeowner stepped out “just for a minute.”After a 13-hour drive, the last thing we expected was to strip beds and wash bedding ourselves just to feel comfortable sleeping there. I wasn’t expecting luxury — just cleanliness and a neutral, guest-ready space. Unfortunately, it felt more like a quick wipe-down happened before handing over the keys.Overall, I was disappointed. When you pay for a BNB, you expect not to feel like you’re staying in someone else’s leftover mess. With better preparation and clearer boundaries between “home” and “rental,” this could be a much better experience.
The house itself is great. But I must had missed the note that stated someone actively lives here. And when we got there, there were dirty/wet rags from someone cleaning up prior to us getting there. There were used tooth brushes and shampoo bottles in the bathroom and the fridge and cabinets were full of food. Which made it hard for my kids to know what was ours and theirs. The A/C had a rattle in the front two smaller rooms. So sleeping in a noisy room was hard. Along with a street light directly in the back smaller room. Making it hard for my kids to sleep. They have sheets but nothing heavier than a sheet. Plenty of towels.Communication was non existent. I called, emailed and text all the recourses to shorten my stay by a day with plenty of enough notice before the deadline and heard nothing back. Resulting in us unnecessarily paying for an extra day we didn’t even use. All in all… it was fine. Just an award stay with minor inconveniences
