Gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights, lock the doors and return the keys
Put used towels in the washing machine. No need to start it Leave used beds messy so we know which beds are dirty
Leave treehouse key on table
Garbage- exit the house to the right. Go straight all the way until you get to the gate. The garbage area will be in your right hand side
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

The Cottages is a lovely community with great shared amenities, but our rental unit could use a bit of extra care to reach its full potential. A few helpful notes for future travelers: there isn't direct pedestrian beach access from the property, so you will want to plan on driving over to the water. Additionally, the atmosphere among surrounding residents didn't feel particularly welcoming toward short-term guests. We had a strata representative knock on our door trying to connect with the owner regarding community guidelines; while the representative was polite, it felt a little awkward being caught in the middle. With a deeper clean, some yard maintenance, and a few furniture updates, this cottage could offer a much more comfortable stay.

Retreat from the city

I rented “Home away from Home” for a retreat for my work team. It was great because it had 5 separate sleeping spaces and 3 bathrooms. Plus, a big kitchen and table to work at. We enjoyed the back deck, the great movie-theatre sized TV and of course, the Treehouse pools/hot tubs. We would have loved a direct walking route to the beach, but were told by residents that neighbours have put up fences along the creek route so it’s now blocked! The good thing though is that other residents at The Cottages are really friendly and helpful:)Check-in was good, but beware that you have to pull and then push the front door after the code is entered! A guidebook with info about The Treehouse (hours, amenities) and things like garbage/recycling would be helpful. Maybe we just didn’t find it though??

The location was great, we enjoyed using the pool and hot tub. The chairs in the kitchen have seen better days -- and the cupboard above the dish washer had about 1/2 an inch of dust/dirt. The rest of the home was clean. My husband says the shower doors in the upstairs bathroom are not hung correctly. The host was very helpful, as our flight was changed (WestJet) and we arrived very late. My two daughters were able to check in before us -- we included them on the app.
