About this property

The Honeybee Cottage

Welcome to the Honeybee Cottage! A brand new 2 bedroom 1 bath carriage house nestled on a tranquil 2.5 acre property in the Cobble Hill/Shawnigan Lake area. This beautifully finished cottage offers a perfect blend of rustic charm & modern comfort. Inside, you'll find a warm, inviting space with a wood stove & a heat pump to keep you comfortable. There is a large covered patio & fire pit area. Just a short 5min walk to Merridale Cidery & Unsworth Vineyards & a 5min bike ride to Cobble Hill Mtn.

Escape to our serene countryside retreat, nestled on 2.5 acres of private, sun-filled land surrounded by nature. Located just minutes from Merridale Cidery, Unsworth Vineyards, and beautiful mountain trails for hiking and biking at Cobble Hill Mountain, it’s the ideal getaway for nature lovers.

There’s lots of parking and an outside hot tap to hose off your mountain bikes.

We are also a 5 minute drive away from Brentwood Bay College, Shawnigan Lake School, other wonderful wineries, coffee shops and the Lake.

In spring and summer, you may hear the gentle chorus of frogs from the nearby pond, deers, and elk adding a touch of magic to the peaceful setting.

You’ll have full access to the open field surrounding the cottage, offering plenty of space to relax and explore. Our main home is located on the opposite side of the property, so you’ll enjoy plenty of privacy throughout your stay. The only shared space is the entrance to the property—otherwise, you’ll feel like you have the place all to yourself.

Other things to note:

We host honey bee hives on the property during the early spring months, typically from February to May. The hives are placed at a respectful distance from the cottage, and the bees are gentle and non-intrusive.

If you have a severe bee allergy or concern, feel free to reach out before booking so we can ensure your comfort and confirm if the honey bees are not around during your stay.

Hi I'm Kat! My husband and I live on the property with our three active kiddos. We love living in the Cowichan Valley, it has so much to offer and many great places to explore! Numerous hiking trails, beaches, river spots and of course swimming in shawnigan lake all summer long! We hope you love it as much as we do!

Why they chose this property

We live on the property but on the opposite side of the cottage. You likely won’t see us except when voting through the gate of the property.
