About this property

Funday Wild, Luxury on the edge of a hyper dynamic wilderness

Welcome to Funday Wild. Nothing separates you here from original nature. You witness the Bay of Fundy rise and fall twice a day to 36 feet during the full moon.
It is hyper dynamic, to catch it you want to slow down, be quiet, and pay attention. You are 130 ft above the high tide line and looking 180 degrees south at Apple River Nova Scotia and The Raven Head Wilderness Preserve.
Great trails to the beach below and the forest where you are, are reached by walking out the front door.
Foxes, bald eagles, peregrine falcons, marauding bands of crows, the warblers spring migration, hummingbirds, typical bird residents and all kinds of sea birds may be witnessed never leaving the decks. You are in the wilderness and the last man made sound you heard was likely your car door closing.
The home is a "machine for living". The tools reflect that ethos. Solid curated wood tables, benches, countertops, floors, walls, ceilings, timber frame with the exterior of the building and its windows and doors made exclusively of Kebony wood the first in the world. We also use wood to heat the home in the Danish wood stove (electric heaters are found in each room with integrated thermostat for individual needs), the Finnish wood stove in the sauna and the outdoor Gizeh wood grill. Speaking of grilling there is a 76,000 BTU Crown Verity BBQ, an LG induction stove/range, Vevor under counter refrigeration drawers, German knives, Italian coffee maker, Smeg juicer, Le Creuset cookware, Riedel crystal , Royal Doulton china and quality gadjets. This kitchen is designed to be cooked in. Amenities also include steamer, sauna, starlink, QLED 72" TV, home theather, and 4 pairs of speakers.
If you don't want to cook, there are a few great restaurants and a few good restaurants one kilometre away in Alma, May to November (some remain open after that). Moncton, an hour and 15 minutes away, has a very dynamic food scene. To earn your supper you may wish to avail yourself to Fundy National Park (1 km away) and have your mind blown on the Coastal Trail. Hopewell Rocks is half way to Moncton and can make a great day trip. There are kayak and e-bike rentals in town.
You are in the Fundy Biosphere (check out TVO doc" Striking Balance"). Just about anywhere you go along the coast is going to be rugged, wild, dangerous and beautiful. Be careful people.
Note: There are 3 binders of notes about the house and the area for those that appreciate the details. This place is best experienced quietly, perceptively, "FULLY COMPLETELY".
No pets allowed and not really suitable for young children (waiver to be signed).

This family get-away was nothing short of amazing! The host was extremely welcoming and helpful through the check-in and stay process! The property itself had beautiful views, and had everything you could think of for a great R&R vacation! Funday Wild had everything from a sauna, steam shower, gorgeous balcony facing the bay of Fundy, great bird watching, nearby trails and beaches! I would highly recommend, and I will certainly be back!

The house is both comfortable and gorgeous. From the wood floors to the deck to the well-equipped kitchen to the soaking tub overlooking the water to the sauna, everyone had a spot that made them happy. It was the perfect spot to make everyone in our group happy--from the adventurous older teens to the grandparents. Plenty of space to stretch out, a fabulous dining room table large enough for everyone to gather around, and a ton to do within an easy drive. Yuill was quick to respond, was full of advice and ideas to make sure every question was answered. We would have happily stayed longer if time allowed. What a beautiful spot and a perfect place to stay. Highly recommend!

Yuill not only provided an exceptional accommodation, he provided us with insight and guidance on our journey. He was a master class host. The best I’ve known. The beauty of the Bay of Fundy was an inspiration for my family. The location of this beautiful property offered experiences beyond our expectations. We enjoyed the steam shower regularly, outdoor shower, sauna, and the exquisite danish wood stove for fires in the evening. The cabin itself is meticulously designed and maintained. A must to visit! Untouched, spectacular views, hikes down to the beach along the cliffs, the texture of the moss and trees. These core memories will stay with us. We are so grateful to Yuill for providing the framework of our shared experiences, and for his stewardship of the land.

The Funday Wild was outstanding! The house was what we had expected and more. It's remote location and rustic surroundings were peaceful and relaxing. Our host was always available to answer questions when needed and provide many great tips on restaurants, places to see, and made sure we were aware of what to expect in the house.I would highly recommend staying at Funday Wild! You won't be disappointed. Even when the weather is nasty, cold and rainy (May). We were cozy inside watching the tides come and go by the fireplace. Thank you for sharing your little piece of paradise.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay and would highly recommend this home to anyone visiting the Bay of Fundy area. From the very beginning, the hosts were fantastic. They were incredibly welcoming, responsive, and genuinely helpful, even taking the time to help us plan parts of our trip and giving us great suggestions for things to see and do in the area. That personal touch made a big difference and helped us get so much more out of our visit. The location of the house is really special. It sits right on the water, and the views are absolutely amazing. One of our favorite things was simply spending time out on the deck watching the Bay of Fundy tides come in and go out. Seeing such a dramatic change in the water level right from the house is something you really have to experience. Whether we were having coffee in the morning or relaxing after a day of exploring, the view never got old.Alma itself was another highlight for us. We loved the charm of the small fishing town and the slower pace of the area. It feels authentic and peaceful, while still being a perfect home base for exploring Fundy National Park and the surrounding coast.During our stay we visited Hopewell Rocks, explored the sea caves, and spent quite a bit of time taking in the scenery along the Bay of Fundy. We also hiked the Laverty Falls Trail, which was one of our favorite parts of the entire trip and something we would highly recommend. The scenery throughout this whole area is beautiful!

The wall of S/SE(?) facing windows and porch overlooking the Bay of Fundy is the big draw here, and it’s gorgeous. But with this house you’re also getting an owner who is “new to VRBO” and seems not to be entirely comfortable yet renting out his home. It’s not a “basic home,” Yuill insists, and his anxiety about having folks in it was a clear counterpoint to what otherwise would have been a lovely stay. We’ve never had an owner request on the day of our booking to “speak with [us] soon as possible.” My wife spent 30 minutes on the phone as Yuill monologued about various topics connected to the house and area. 2 weeks later he wanted to talk again and this time said it would be “best if” both of us were on the call. We asked that he just send us any additional information he’d like to convey. Yuill: “if you don’t want to get more local beta on a phone call then that’s fine I don’t NEED to take my time to give u that....” We did get written information (a top 20) but it DIDN’T include such items as the wifi password (necessary in this basically no cell service zone) or where trash & recycling should go. Our bagging up these in clean bags and leaving them inside the front door on the large mud mat for the cleaners was considered highly disrespectful in a long post-checkout message from Yuill. You’re getting a home with much to recommend it, but be advised that you’re getting a bigger dose of the host than you might ordinarily expect if you decide to book here.

Fundy Wild. This luxury retreat is exceptional in every way and will surpass your expectations. From the moment we entered, we were mesmerized by the stunning beauty in every direction (inside and out.) Floor-to-ceiling windows provided endless views of the lush forest surround and the Bay of Fundy beyond. There are so many cozy places in this home to relax and take in your surroundings. We spent hours watching sunrises and sunsets on the deck, cooking in the beautifully equipped kitchen, dining by candlelight, soaking in the luxurious tub in master ensuite, and watching the tide go out along the coastline during our sunset sauna - a lovely hideaway perched at the forest’s edge with many windows for a perfectly curated view. (Even doing dishes at the kitchen sink was a treat with those views!)We made an incredible pasta with local seafood purchased at Collin’s Lobster Shop in Alma (5min drive.) And Kelly’s Bakery in Alma makes the most decadent cinnamon buns. If you’re a coffee buff, be sure to bring your beans preground so you can enjoy the espresso maker at Fundy Wild. The woodwork throughout this home is gorgeous and smells wonderful. Yuill, the host, clearly took pride in every detail of this build. As a host, he was always quick to respond and provided many excellent suggestions to make the most of our stay. We would love to visit again one day. Dreamy. Fantastic. Wow.

FundyWILD was amazing. It was great to connect with family here. We all grew up in Moncton and visited Fundy almost every weekend as kids. Yuil has built a gem here with attention to detail, comfort and quietness. The house is meticulous and the grounds and amenities are 2nd to none….especially the BBQ. We hope to return or make this an annual tradition.
