Why they chose this property

A good 3‑day itinerary mixes harbour beaches, historic houses and coastal walks, with one day dipping into the CBD by ferry.

Below is a sample 3-day itinerary depending on your interests.

Day 1 – Vaucluse highlights

Explore Vaucluse House (historic harbourside estate, house museum and gardens).

Coffee or brunch at the onsite or nearby cafés.

Head to Nielsen Park and Shark Beach for a swim and picnic; there are big lawns, shaded areas and a cafe.

Stroll a section of the Nielsen Park–Strickland House loop for harbour views and heritage buildings.

Sunset drink or early dinner at The Nielsen or nearby Rose Bay.

Day 2 – Coastal walks and Watsons Bay

Walk part (or all) of the Hermitage Foreshore Track between Nielsen Park and Rose Bay; it’s easy, scenic and passes tiny beaches like Milk Beach with city skyline views.

Take a ferry or bus to Watsons Bay, then have fish and chips at Doyles or a pub lunch overlooking the harbour.

Explore South Head: walk up to Hornby (South Head) Lighthouse, see The Gap and nearby lookouts.

Optional swim at Gibsons Beach or Camp Cove if time and weather suit.

Stay in Watsons Bay for sunset over the city, then bus or Uber back to Vaucluse.

Day 3 – City and harbour from Vaucluse

Take the 324/325 bus from Vaucluse down to Rose Bay, then ferry to Circular Quay (about 30 minutes total), enjoying harbour views en route.

Walk around the Sydney Opera House and the Royal Botanic Garden, or explore The Rocks.

Eat at Circular Quay or The Rocks. Harbourfront spots give you bridge and Opera House views.

Option: Do a short harbour cruise or visit Taronga Zoo via ferry for more views and wildlife,

Ferry or bus back via Rose Bay to Vaucluse; the bus from the CBD runs about every 15–20 minutes.
