About this property
Hosts on the Coast Valmay's Whiritoa Retreat
Valmay’s Whiritoa Retreat is a laid-back, beachy bach just minutes from the sand and surf. With a park and tennis courts right across the road, there’s always something to do when you’re not soaking up the sun or heading to the beach.
Inside, the bach is light, comfy, and perfect for easy holiday living. There are three inviting bedrooms — two with queen beds, including the main bedroom which opens straight onto the deck, and a third bedroom with a double bed and its own deck access out the front. The main bathroom is fresh and functional with a shower, toilet, and vanity.
Kick back in the cosy lounge after a day at the beach, pop on the TV, or swing open the French doors and let the sea breeze roll in. The kitchen is well set up for holiday cooking, whether it’s big family breakfasts or simple summer BBQ dinners. Enjoy meals at the dining table or head outside to the covered back deck for relaxed alfresco dining.
The outdoor living here is a real highlight. The covered deck features a louvred roof you can open up to the sky or close for shade, plus drop-down sides to keep things cosy when needed. Sink into the outdoor couches with a good book, enjoy an afternoon nap, or fire up the outdoor fireplace in the evening, grab a drink, and settle in for long, laughter-filled nights with family and friends.
The fully fenced backyard is perfect for kids to roam freely, with loads of space for backyard games and barefoot fun.
If you’re chasing a relaxed coastal escape where beach days and easy living come naturally, Valmay’s Whiritoa Retreat is the place to be.
Normally a sleepy town, Whiritoa has only a couple of hundred permanent residents. Over summer bach owners and holidaymakers head here to enjoy the peace. It is located about 2 hours from Auckland and in between Waihi and Whangamata. There is a convenience store if you need to stock up and there is a library if you need to get some summer reading done! Whiritoa Beach is a surf beach and the surf lifeguards patrol during the summer and of course you must swim between the flags. At the north end of the beach is a lagoon which is very safe for swimming. If you keep walking past the lagoon there is a short walk to Waimama Bay which has gorgeous white sand and crystal, clear waters. Along the beach are New Zealand’s Christmas trees the Pohutukawa, which in summer bursts with red flowers. This area is a photographer’s dream. Whiritoa is the place to be if you want a chill vibe, a great place to unwind.
