About this property
Golden Hour - rustic, cozy, and peaceful cottage for nature lovers
FOR NATURE LOVERS. Feel the need for a little peace & quiet and relaxation in nature, far from the city? The Golden Hour is the perfect rustic cottage for a getaway with your loved ones or your friends! Enjoy the surrounding forests, the spacious deck, magnificient views and private lake access, and unforgettable sunsets. Close by: Lake Taureau and its fabulous beaches, Sept-Chutes Regional Park and its amazing hiking trails, as well as Mastigouche wildlife reserve. EV plug available.
The Golden Hour blends rustic charm with modern comfort. THERE’S NO WIFI OR TV, and cellphone service is not the best—but that’s part of the magic. Take a break from technology and enjoy the great outdoors and all the activities around the cottage!
Kids can run freely in the large yard while adults relax on the spacious terrace. A private path leads to the lake, where you can swim, unwind on your own small beach, watch the sunset from the dock, or explore the lake with on a kayak or a pedal boat (3 season only - see below for winter activities). Several beautiful parks, hiking areas, and snowshoe/ski areas are only a short drive away.
The living spaces have everything you need to feel at home: 3 bedrooms (one king, one double, and two single beds), a bright bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, a cozy dining area, and a comfortable living room. Water comes from a natural artesian well and waste is managed by a septic system.
Guests have access to the entire property and all the equipment that is found in or near the cottage. Write to the host Sophie or her husband Mehdi at anytime during your stay if you need help!
FUN WINTER ACTIVITIES AROUND THE COTTAGE
St-Zenon town : 10-minute drive - tiny town close by, there are some nice hiking/skiing trails.
St-Michel-des-Saints town: 17-minute drive - a bigger town where you can find everything, including snowmobile rentals such as Location Haute Matawinie.
Parc régional des Sept-Chutes: 22-minute drive - a gorgeous provincial park with beautiful scenery. I highly recommend renting snowshoes (the park has rentals) and going for an unforgettable hike!
Auberge du Lac Toureau: 30-minute drive - a popular tourist attraction, with many winter activities (snowmobiling, dog sledding, winter biking, winter fishing, snowshoeing, skiing, skating)

About the host
Hosted by Sophie Zhang
I am Chinese-Canadian, raised in Montreal and Winnipeg. I love languages and traveling, currently working on learning Arabic which would be my sixth language! I love meeting people from all over the world. I'm also a lover of nature, the outdoors, dancing, bouldering, and social justice. Looking forward to hosting you at The Golden Hour!
Why they chose this property
Lanaudières region is gorgeous. When I go to The Golden Hour cabin, I feel instantly at peace. I can finally leave behind the chaos of the city and the addiction of technology, and be one with nature! The cabin is perfectly located, surrounded by trees, overlooking the beautiful lake, and directly facing amazing sunsets.
What makes this property unique
Close enough to Montreal that you don't need to drive for hours, but far enough to be truly deeply immersed in nature and tranquility! In the summer, we even have our own private dock and little beach. In the wintertime, it's like a snowy winter wonderland, with loads of fun activities nearby to keep busy. Not to mention our parking spot with a plug for electrical vehicles (EV).
