About this property
The Gums, Beechworth
Step back in time while enjoying modern comfort in this beautifully restored early-1900s cottage, full of character and charm. Light, airy and thoughtfully renovated, it blends original features with modern conveniences for a peaceful stay.
From the front porch watch the sun set over the creek. So close you could kick a footy in and drift off to sleep to its gentle trickle beneath a starlit sky.
Wake to beautiful views without leaving your king bed - thanks to remote-controlled blinds in the main bedroom.
The second bedroom features a lux queen bed and beautiful natural light.
A second lounge with a sofa bed and sliding doors can double as a private third sleeping space should you need the extra room.
Relax on the oversized couch in the main lounge. Play games on the comfy bean bags in the second living room or unwind on the porch with a book, coffee or a wine. The cottage overlooks a large park, offering tranquillity while being just minutes from town.
The dining room seats 6 and opens to a charming patio with an additional outdoor dining area under festoon lights. Perfect for meals or evening drinks. The well-equipped kitchen features a large Smeg oven, ideal for home-cooked meals. There is no dishwasher, inviting a little old-fashioned washing-up fun! Out the back the original mudroom/lean-to houses the laundry and separate toilet.
A hop, skip and a jump from Beechworth’s main street. The cottage is close to historic pubs, hip cafés and boutique shops. A short, scenic path makes walking into town easy and the rail trail is just one block away for a short or long cycle for the more adventurous. Off street parking is available, with plenty of free on-street parking for extra vehicles.
A peaceful retreat where history, comfort and nature come together. Perfect for couples, families or anyone seeking a relaxed Beechworth escape.
Things to note:
There is no dishwasher.
Shower over bath may be tricky for some.
Laundry and toilet can be cool in winter.
As this is also our home from time to time, we ask guests to treat it with care and respect.
