Casa sullo Scoglio – Charming 3-Room Ground-Floor Apartment Right on the Crystal-Clear Sea of Ostuni
The 3-room holiday apartment Casa sullo Scoglio is located on a small peninsula directly on the crystal-clear sea near Ostuni. This lovely vacation home occupies the ground floor of a former ancient masseria - one of the very rare properties found directly on the sea.
True to its name, Casa sullo Scoglio (House on the Rock) lives up to its promise. Behind the small garden gate, framed by rocks that are safe and easy for children to explore, lies a sandy beach cove. From the front terrace, you can enjoy a unique sea view! On this terrace, you can savor breakfast with a vista mare in the morning or enjoy a romantic candlelit dinner in the evening, perhaps accompanied by a glass of Primitivo wine while listening to the soothing sound of the waves.
From the terrace, you enter directly into the living room, which includes a TV and offers uninterrupted sea views. There is a dining area flowing into an open, well-equipped masonry kitchen, complete with an oven. Casa sullo Scoglio is a comfortable, good mid-range property, featuring two bedrooms: one double bedroom and one room with a double bed plus a bunk bed, making it suitable for up to six guests. The bathroom is equipped with a shower cabin, sink, toilet, and bidet.
The apartment also includes air conditioning, making it comfortable to stay not only during the summer but also in cooler months.
The apartment has two entrances - one at the front and one at the rear - which can be convenient for two couples or families with older children.
The rear outdoor area is tastefully designed and enclosed by a traditional Apulian stone wall in warm tones of sand and terracotta. A beautiful wooden veranda and matching tiles blend harmoniously into the setting. After a traditional Apulian lunch, this shaded veranda is a perfect spot for a quiet rest.
The property surprises guests with several extras, especially outdoors. After sunbathing and a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear sea, you can use the private outdoor shower under the veranda, which offers complete privacy. The shower and an additional outdoor WC are exclusively for the use of guests. All facilities are brand new. Furthermore, there is an extra 4-burner stove and a barbecue grill available for outdoor cooking.
A shaded private parking spaces are included. A wall safe and an alarm system complete the offering.

About the location
Villanova, with its picturesque ancient fishing harbor and the adjacent Camerini area where the apartment is located on the peninsula, has preserved its original charm. Here you can watch fishermen set out to sea and prepare their freshly caught octopus on the rocks, a local culinary tradition. Apulia is truly the mecca of Mediterranean cuisine!
Nearby Attractions and Region
Marina di Ostuni has proudly held the Blue Flag for excellent sea water quality for decades. In recent years, it also earned the highest rating — the '5 Sails' — from Legambiente, one of Italy’s most critical environmental organizations.
Along this coastline near Ostuni, several holiday resorts are lined up. The geographical heart is the charming old fishing port of Villanova, where you can find bakeries, fish restaurants, pizzerias, and cafés. While Villanova is not glamorous, during the summer months you may spot a few yachts, as the crystal-clear waters attract many wealthy Italians and Europeans. August is the peak holiday season here.
The coastline is very diverse: to the north, there are long sandy beaches (Pilone, Rosa Marina), while moving southwards (Lido Fontanelle, Costa Merlata) the coast becomes a succession of bays with sandy beaches alternating with rocky formations. Dramatic rock formations, ancient lighthouses, and bays bordered by fragrant Mediterranean scrub characterize the landscape. Not far from Ostuni, towards Brindisi, lies the Torre Guaceto Marine Nature Reserve.
The Essence of Ostuni and Apulia
If you were to paint a picture of the southern Apulian city Ostuni, you would need only a few colors: the green of the endless centuries-old olive groves stretching to the sea, the blue of the azure sea merging into the sky, and the brilliant white of the limewashed houses in Ostuni’s old town with its labyrinthine alleys and stairs. The proud “White City” rises like an oriental kasbah, perched 300 meters above sea level, basking in the sunlight. Ostuni’s historic center is officially recognized as an Italian city of art.
Bright purple and magenta bougainvillea add vibrant accents to the scene, peeking from the walls and gardens. Scattered throughout the fields are the endless muri a secco - traditional dry stone walls of Apulia -in hues ranging from white and sandy tones to reddish terracotta and almost black, weathered by decades of sun and wind. The most beautiful stones remind one of terracotta flower pots decorated with blossoms, a warm tone evoking the Mediterranean lifestyle.
