About this property

Terrys Place in Botwood, NL. Cozy 2 BR/2 bathrooms/cot/ 2 bathrooms. Sleeps 6.

All new centrally located in a quaint seaport town. Spacious open concept with lots of places to relax after a day of exploring or hiking in Botwood and take extra days to discover the many little villages within 5 min-1 hr drive. Have your camera always ready to capture the natural beauty that surrounds you, everywhere you explore. Botwood has many breathtaking historically themed, large hand painted murrals, museums, restaurants such as The Harbour View Diner, Railway Cafe and Pizza, Mary Browns Chicken, two grocery stores, hospital, pharmacies, friendly towns folk, hiking trails that follows the ocean throughout the town and to the top of Blueberry Hill. There you will photogragh the memorial statues of the husband, wife and infant family of the last known native Beothuks in NL. The panoramic view from the top is breathtaking!
Throughtout the area, you will find the WW2 Gun Battery hike in Philips Head, scenic ocean side villages in Cottrells Cove and Fortune Harbour. Then head to Point Leamington and just past the popular rv park and Salmon river, stop to fish or stop at the Heritege/craft Center & Tea Room, hike the challenging over 800 stairs Rowsells Hill hiking trail and then cool down with swim in the Mill River, where families gather on hot days! Stop for delicious local fish and chips at the food truck and the Bottoms Up Bar and Grill for supper, both near the playground.
Superior Glove Works is a must visit for a dynamic tour of the facility and musceum where you meet some workers, amd see such unbelievable pattented technology.
On to the tiny fishing village of Glovers Harbour to visit the Giant Squid Interpretation Center and the outdoor to scale replica, of the monster that came ashore in the 1800s, for a photo shoot. Walk up the road 5 min to "Mays Store" for a sweet treat or soft serve ice cream or coffee & local home knit socks, mitts etc.
If you want to take the kids for a walk & swim in the pond, ask the locals for directions to sawmill road.
Drive another 10 min to the popular summer destination of Leading Tickles. Its amazing to see the fishermens family homes built right on the edge of the cliffs near the salt water, with their fishing stages and store houses nearby. Hike the trails on the island side of the village, that will take you around the sea shore and thru wooded areas, amd into Ocean View Park - a MUST See..visit the beaches on both sides of the RV park for close personal experience or go for a very refreshing swim in the cool salty water. Watch for whales and icebergs close by here, from the beach. Make sure to take time to chat with the local Newfoundlanders all along your route, to appreciate the variety of our beautiful Newfoundland dialects amd our proud culture. This is the result of a diverse mixture our ancestry roots, who settled in the isolated coves and inlets of Newfoundland, to harvest fish from the bountiful sea. They came from Ireland, England, Scotland, France etc. Each area of our great province has different dialects & speed of speech, depending on the mixing of the most abundant ancestry roots in that particular area. If by chance you are invited into a locals home for tea or coffee, make sure you say "Yes". This is the best experience of all!
We try & slow down our speech for our "Come From Aways Guest", but when some of my guest, has heard me talking to my friends and family, they claim I am bilingual! And its true...we are, and we are so proud of our culture and roots! We often say, " You can take the boy out of the bay, but you cant take the bay out of the boy!"
Come visit us and see and hear for yourself, what we see and live everyday that we are so blessed to have been born here!

Cindy is wonderful and makes the whole process very easy. The home is as advertised...what is not mentioned are all the extra touches that are done including a bowl of treats. If you enjoy having a home away from home feel, this is your place. Easy booking and sign in process. Very clean and comes with everything you need to cook etc. If you are interested in this area book with Cindy.
