A property for dog lovers by dog lovers. Pet friendly inside and out, the Salty Dog is a renovated 3 bedroom single story home, sleeping up to 6 people in three bedrooms and 4 well behaved dogs. Nestled in a securely fenced garden setting and a short 500 metre stroll to a sandy bay beach where dogs are welcome all year round, spend your time swimming, walking, relaxing by our fire or just watching glorious sunsets.
If you’re not a dog lover, this property may not be the right fit, as dogs are a big part of its character. Just a short stroll to the foreshore and an easy drive to Phillip Island.
Please note: Salty Dog frequently welcomes canine guests. While the home is professionally cleaned between every stay, it may not be suitable for guests with dog allergies or those who are not dog lovers. It’s a home designed to celebrate our furry friends. 🐾
FOR DOGS – Designed by experienced dog owners and lovers, our home offers; High fencing - fully fenced between 1.9 to 2.6 meters, additional internal fencing for safety Dogs on furniture - cant resist a comfy couch? Large covers provided for you to protect our furniture Garden – sculptured garden beds to support enrichment activities Small concrete training/play zone - surrounded by seating, an open space to train and play (games guide - on top of microwave) Wet or dirty dogs – purpose built dog wash area in side yard with shampoo and conditioner to clean up after adventures (dog towels in linen press) Wood floors – Please note our home does have polished boards. Two stability mats available in linen press, however feel free to bring additional floor coverings if required for your dog/s stability Telescopic ramp – unload your big dogs easily, ramp rated to 120 kilos available where you park. Be careful when handling this it is heavy Dog beds – one Kmart memory foam mat per bedroom Bowls – assorted bowls provided for medium to large size dogs Crate - Extra large, soft dog crate available in the laundry Accidents inside– travelling, a change in diet or a new place can result in accidents, or marking space. Clean up tips & products on top of fridge Poo – bags, poo scoop and bin provided (please use only what you need) Ramp access - where stairs are difficult, a small ramp is provided onto our large back deck for dogs who may need this (steps at two other access points) Extra large doggy door - St Bernard size doggy door from the laundry to a small fenced outside run for evening pit stops Toys – Enjoy a toy from the basket, assorted sizes but mainly for mid to large size dogs – yes there are lots of well loved tennis balls Leads – Forgot one? No worries there’s always a spare light weight lead hanging around, please leave them for our guests Vets and other services - We hope you don’t need them, but a list on the fridge just in case Pet First aid kit - basic pet first aid kit provided, please tell us anything used so we can replenish for our next guest Fleas and worms – please don’t bring these with you 😊. If you may have, please don’t allow your dogs on our furniture
REACTIVE DOGS - We know you need a little extra love, so for you we provide: Secure, internal fencing - designed to keep you away from any activity in the street and to allow the owner access to the garage on the very odd occasion. Additional fencing being installed for your safety Signs - making it clear where you are on the 'reactive scale', just in case pizza or other goodies are delivered Lead - Nervous dog lead available Muzzle - Greyhound and large 'Baskerville' muzzle on site Places to go – info on the 'normally' quiet spots we have found for our own reactive dog on the microwave (No guarantee, areas can change in a minute!) Dogs next door – Our three dogs are often on the property next door. They will NEVER access the property while we have guests. We will also work with you to minimise any impact on your reactive dog’s vacation! Sheds to be built in the future along the boundary to provide a degree of separation
SPECIAL NEEDS DOGS We love to support those with special needs dogs, send us an enquiry and we will happily assist where we can Dogs on wheels - for small wheels there is a built in ramp which is 50 cm wide. For larger wheel spans pls contact us
FOR PEOPLE - our home offers: An open living/ dining space with seating for six connected to a large deck overlooking landscaped gardens. The home is accessed via two steps and has ramp access to the rear deck. Free Wifi, smart TV, selection of games, jigsaws and books available to be enjoyed with the comfort of reverse cycle air conditioning or by a roaring woodfire in our coonara. Relax in a rural setting opposite cow paddocks, see the local mob of Kangaroos in the distance A well appointed kitchen with all the usuals, an oven, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, sandwich press, USB & USC charging points and a blender to support cocktails on the back deck or by the fire. Bedroom 1 - Queen size bed, drawers, USB charging port, fan, heater and a bench seat Bedroom 2- Queen size bed, large built in robes, reverse cycle air conditioner, USB charging point, TV Bedroom 3- Double bed, built in robes, USB charging point, fan, heater Bathroom - Separate bath and shower Toilet - One separate toilet Laundry - Washing machine, dryer, ironing board, iron, vacuum and extra large doggy door (St Bernard size) Fire - everything you need to get the Coonara roaring is provided May to October Car parking – 2 small cars under the carport or one large car, easy to arrange additional parking as long as owner access to the garage is maintained Security and privacy – Two video camera recording the driveway entry and exit only for guest, owner and property security
The ‘no’ list To keep our home sparkling for our next guests and their pets we ask that you observe our ‘House Rules’ - No smoking - No access to the garage, we keep our dog gear there - No parties, bucks/hen’s or other major celebrations or schoolies bookings - No making us pick up your dog's poo !! Our three produce enough to keep us busy!
SOCIAL IMPACT We love supporting dog charities. Each year we will support Victorian Dog Rescue Group by donating whichever is the higher amount from either 10% of our total annual revenue, or a minimum of $1,500 Donation will be made annually in December. Our three dogs are all Vic Dog Rescue dogs We also support Melbourne City Mission in their work with youth experiencing homelessness
