Surrounded by mountains, forests, and rivers, it provides a relaxing base while remaining within easy reach of the region`s world-class ski resorts, hot springs, restaurants, and outdoor attractions.

Multiple ski resorts, including Akakura Onsen, Akakura Kanko, Ikenotaira, Suginohara, and Seki Onsen, are just a short drive away. Whether you`re visiting for deep winter powder, colourful autumn scenery, or summer mountain adventures, Sekigawa is an ideal base for exploring everything Myoko and the surrounding region have to offer.

Getting around is easy, especially with a car. Most ski resorts, hot springs, and sightseeing spots in Myoko are within a 5–40 minute drive. Myoko Kogen Station is just a short 3min drive away, with bullet train connections to Tokyo. Taxis are available but limited, so we recommend renting a car for the most flexibility, particularly during winter.

• Please do not use the snowblower. Snow clearing is managed by the host/management team for safety, maintenance, and insurance reasons.

• The chalet is heated by gas heaters located throughout the property. For safety, the heaters automatically switch off after approximately 8 hours and must be turned back on manually if continued heating is required.

• During winter, please do not leave the chalet unheated for extended periods, as this can increase the risk of pipes freezing during extremely cold weather.

• The property is located in a quiet residential area. Please be respectful of neighbours, particularly during the evening and early morning hours.

• No parties, events, or excessive noise are permitted.

• Smoking is not permitted inside the chalet.

• Please ensure rubbish is sorted correctly according to the bin labels provided and local collection requirements.

• During heavy snowfall, guests may need to clear a small amount of snow around parked vehicles before management completes full snow clearing.

• Winter driving conditions can be icy and snowy. Appropriate winter tyres and cautious driving are essential.

• Please keep exterior doors closed during winter to help maintain heating efficiency and comfort throughout the chalet.
• The snowblower is strictly for use by the host/management team only. For safety and insurance reasons, guests must not operate the snowblower under any circumstances.

• Parking is available in the driveway directly in front of the house, with space for approximately 3–4 vehicles. Please do not park directly in front of or too close to the garage doors, as management requires access to the garage to remove the snowblower for snow clearing operations.

• During periods of heavy snowfall, guests may need to clear a small amount of snow around their vehicle to access the road before management completes full snow clearing. Any removed snow should be placed away from vehicle access areas where practical.

• Please remove shoes at the entrance. Slippers are provided for your comfort during your stay.

• Ski and snowboard boots should not be worn inside the chalet. Please remove them in the garage and place them in the dry room provided.

• The chalet is heated by gas heaters located throughout the property. For safety, each heater automatically switches off after approximately 8 hours and must be manually turned back on if continued heating is required.

• For comfort and efficient operation, we recommend setting heaters between 18°C and 24°C. Please avoid setting heaters to excessively high temperatures or leaving windows open while heating is operating.

• During winter, please do not leave the chalet unheated for extended periods, as this can increase the risk of pipes freezing during extremely cold weather.

• Please keep exterior doors closed during winter to help maintain a comfortable temperature throughout the chalet.

• Please do not place hot pots, pans, or other heated items directly on the kitchen benchtops. Protective heat mats are provided in the kitchen cupboards for this purpose.

About the host

Hosted by Kyle Moroney

Host profile image
Hi, I’m Kyle — an Australian who loves skiing, travel, and spending time in the mountains. I set up Koguma Chalet Myoko to be a comfortable, easy place for families and groups to relax after a big day exploring Myoko.

I enjoy hosting and helping guests make the most of their stay, whether that’s sharing local tips, ski resort advice, or helping with transport. I take pride in keeping the house warm, clean, and well set up so you can focus on enjoying your trip.

Looking forward to hosting you.

Why they chose this property

I chose the Myoko area because it offers the best of Japan’s mountain lifestyle without the crowds — incredible powder snow, a great mix of ski resorts, and a relaxed local feel. You get easy access to multiple mountains, great food, onsens, and everyday conveniences, all while staying somewhere quieter and more authentic than the bigger resort towns.

Myoko is the kind of place where you can ski hard during the day and properly unwind at night — which is exactly why I wanted to host here.

What makes this property unique

Koguma Chalet is set up specifically for families who want comfort, and convenience. The house is warm, well insulated, and thoughtfully laid out with multiple living areas, making it easy to relax together without feeling cramped.

Its location in Myoko Kogen gives you quick access to multiple ski resorts while staying close to everyday essentials like shops, the train station, and local eateries. Combined with mountain views, easy parking, and a practical, no-stress setup for winter stays, Koguma Chalet offers a comfortable base to enjoy everything Myoko has to offer.
