I am originally from New Jersey, USA. I'm married with three sons. I am a perennial student: a graduate of Rutgers University, Seton Hall University, US Army Command & General Staff College, The National Defense University, and University of Arizona. I hold an undergraduate degree in Sociology and graduate degrees in Education and Latin American Studies. I retired in 1988 from 24 years of military service in U.S., Europe, Asia. During this career, I served in Infantry units and taught in both military and civil schools, to include at Rutgers and Seton Hall Universities. I have lived at Lake Atitlan since 1999. I am a fitness trainer and exercise nut. I am the published author of numerous books and articles on military subjects, education, and the contemporary culture and history of Guatemala and Mexico (under the pen name Richard Morgan Szybist).
