About this property
Croton Lake Front Cottage - Sunsets, water & a great cottage
This is a highly sought after Croton Dam Pond water frontage. This cute cottage is set upon a medium bluff on Croton Dam pond where there are year round activities to keep guests occupied. Go swimming on the hot summer days or sit with your favorite beverage by the bonfire as you watch the sun set over the pond. Dock available for use if you have a boat you would like to bring.
Currently accepting bookings for the ice fishing and winter sports seasons. We have an assortment of ice fishing gear including augers, rods, tip-ups and even a shanty. Perch and pike fishing is phenomenal right in front of the cottage. I’m happy to offer fishing advice and get your family into the fish.
There are some anglers that use the yard for parking and the stairs for access. These folks are all friends of ours and will likely all be happy to share some of their secrets.
The plow service clears snow as needed.
Snow is cleared from the driveway and to the back stairs. Upon request, snow can be cleared to the front ramp for stair free access.
The stairs down to the water for access to ice fishing are cleared when used and are generally lightly salted.
Ice and snow may build up on these stairs with ice fishing traffic, and you were asked to use extreme caution when going up and down to the water.
Salt and a shovel for the are provided at the garage and at the back door.
There is plenty of parking with access to one stall of the garage for parking or storage of your toys. Motorcycles are welcome. Travel by car to get around the area and into the City of Newaygo or to the other dams. Quick land access to other bodies of water like Hardy pond and the Muskegon river for the legendary salmon and steelhead runs.
You and your guests will have full access to the main floor of the cottage. The basement will be closed off to visitors for this season.
NOTE: there are about 40 stairs down to the water. The tram elevator is disabled for guests because we are unsure of it’s ultimate safety and the insurance ramifications of using it.
The fire pit has wood supplied in the garage. We supply an abundance of firewood for your stay along with fire starting material. Marshmallow sticks are in the garage.
Lawn furniture, including folding camp chairs, are provided. There are plenty of beach towels available for your use.
In the garage you will find yard games, fishing equipment and spare lawn/patio furniture. More life jackets and fishing equipment can be found in the boat house down the stairs by the water.
Yard games include:
Kubb
Ladder ball
Corn hole
Bocci ball
Croquet
Badminton
PETS ARE WELCOME! Tie outs are provided in the spacious yard along with a couple of crates that can be pre-set up on request. Dog dishes and treats are in the kitchen along with spare leashes and refuse bags. (We just ask that you pick up after your dogs and don’t let them explore on the neighbor’s property)
The internet is a speed 100mb+ connection. Bring along your login information for the apps on the smart TVs. We are also able to provide login info for Hulu, Netflix, Paramount, Peacock and a few other streaming options. Over the air programming and other free options are available. The Alexa device in the kitchen can be used to play music.
The coffee station features everything! Drip coffee, keureg machine with plenty of flavors ofcups, pour over dripper, French press and stovetop percolator options. There is pre-ground coffee as well as whole beans and a hand grinder. Hot chocolate and tea are ready to enjoy.
The assortment of basic snacks stocked in the kitchen are for everyone to enjoy. Ramen, Mac n’ cheese cups, oatmeal and popcorn.
The kitchen is outfitted with a blender, toaster, crock pot and other kitchen essentials. Dishes, glasses, mugs, silverware, paper plates and red solo cups are provided along with a few spices and seasonings.
Washer and dryer with detergent pods are in place for your use. Soaps, conditioners and shampoos are in place in the bathroom.
The stand alone air conditioner is located in the main living area and works to cool the cottage on hot summer days. The smart thermostat is programmed to circulate air throughout the home. We find it most effective to turn the air conditioner on and let the air circulate throughout the house. There is a ceiling fan in one bedroom and box fans in the others.
In the winter months, there is excellent ice fishing for perch and pike to be had just steps off the dock. Ice fishing equipment and advice will be available for winter time guests. Special rates are available for off-season rentals.
Ice shanties, rods, tip-ups and other tackle are included on winter rentals.
Also offering fall rentals for hunting groups.
There are security cameras outside that monitor the driveway as well as the front and back door areas. These cameras are not generally monitored but are set to record motion for security and safety purposes.
Our goal is to provide a relaxing vacation experience with enough amenities set up so that you can enjoy yourself. You’ll only need to bring your own clothes and food.
Thank you for reviewing our booking. We would be happy to host your group. Please send over any questions that you may have. We love this cottage and would love to share it with you.
Sincerely,
Nick & Jenn
