About this property
Adirondack Lake house
This 4 season getaway home is located on beautiful Canada Lake within the Adirondack State Park. The property includes an indoor porch overlooking the water, along with an open porch are perfect places to enjoy your morning coffee. Amenities include outdoor fire pit, grill, dishes and cooking supplies, coffee maker, washer and dryer, and indoor gas stove. You can enjoy swimming, fishing and boating in the summer, right from your private dock. Visitors can bring their own boat or rent one nearby from the lake Marina. Nick Stoner Golf course and a brand new mountain bike trail system is is less than 2 miles away. Plenty of hiking trails throughout the area, including the fire tower on popular Kane Mountain, which you can start the hike right from your backyard. Fall foliage is breathtaking in mid Sept through mid October, and winter activities include snow shoeing, sledding, cross country skiing, and snowmobiling. The house is located right on the main corridor snowmobile trail. No need to trailer anywhere else. I would be remiss if I did not mention downhill skiing at local Royal Mountain (10 minutes), Oak Mountain (40 minutes), and Gore Mountain (80 minutes).

The host, John, is very friendly and accommodating. We really enjoy the view of the frozen lake and easy access to snow activities sich as sledding and snowshoeing.
The owner was very kind and communicative. We needed a place to stay when our original plans had fallen through. John was quick to reply, and we were lucky to find this available. The property was clean and spacious. It had everything we needed and is located in a beautiful spot. It would be nice to return in warmer weather!
We had a great stay at the lake house! The communication from the owner was fantastic - very responsive. And it was very clean. We've stayed at older properties before and they aren't usually the cleanest. But that's not the case here. Everything was clean and working as it should. A great experience all around!
My family and I really enjoyed our stay here. Beautiful lake with good fishing. The house is rustic, charming and steps from the water. Next door is the small store and marina which was super convenient. Owners were very nice and accommodating. We hope to go back next year.
We had a wonderful stay at this lovely lakeside house! The lakefront porch, with its cozy fire, provided stunning views and the perfect setting for quality family time. We especially enjoyed borrowing the snowshoes from the house and trekking across the frozen lake to the islet in the middle—an unforgettable experience!John was absolutely fantastic. He guided us through the winter stormy weather with kindness and warmth, offering invaluable help that we truly appreciated. We can’t thank him enough! We would love to return to enjoy the beauty of the lake again and the coziness of the house. Highly recommend this place!
I really like this place. John the property owner is very helpful and considerate and checked in to make sure everything was OK. House is older but well kept. Back room overlooking the water is where we spend most of our time. We like to cook and the kitchen is older but well equipped. All appliances work well and there are plenty of cooking utensils to choose from. We will be back!
This is a hidden gem in Caroga Lake! The place has plenty of beds and space. We were only four, so my kids (used to small apartments in NYC) love it! The place was clean, and with all needed amenities. John was a great host! All exchange of messages was swift and clear.
And you need to spend at least one afternoon in the porch! The winter view of the lake was astonishing and despite being a little bit cold, the porch orientation makes it very warm. You can spend hours reading there
Many thanks and we'll surely come back!

Wonderful spot, great host, but bring your own bedding?
I liked the location (next door to a store was great, and even quiet). The house was clean and had some ice waiting for us. There were warnings about not drinking the tap water (well water + road salt runoff = bad) and some normal information about things nearby and what day is trash day. When we saw we were next door to a country store, we were concerned, but turns out it's nice that the place closes at 7pm, and honestly we barely noticed when it was open. We made several trips (cleared them out of skim milk over our stay). Everyone was great!
The only issue we really had was the VRBO policy that hosts may ask you to bring your own sheets and towels. Why?
When I consulted the listing, "bring your own towels and bedding" was not listed. The host was upfront about this in our first communication, and was very polite. The host offered to provide them for an extra fee (the default cleaning fee was VERY low, which was nice), but still, why is that even an option? Who wants to bring sheets and towels on vacation?
This was our second time staying here, and we enjoyed it just as much. The lake-watching room is so great, and the gas fireplace out there makes it so cozy. Great communication with the owner, and we recommend staying here.
Very spacious lake front property.
We enjoyed our stay. There is a store and a marina right next door. We rented a pontoon boat for the day. John was great in answering all of our questions. Loved the porch over looking the lake. We spent our nights playing cards and games on the porch overlooking the lake.
Nice property. Cool older house with a great location. We went early in the season so there were very few people on the lake. Nice sun porch where we spent most of our time. Comfy beds. Property owner was very nice and set up the outdoor furniture after we arrived. General store/marina is right next door. The The owners acquired the house fairly recently and I assume they are planning some improvements. The place could use a good solid cleaning and some minor updates but overall it was great. I would definitely stay here again.
Fantastic spot for a relaxing weekend in any weather!
We had an absolutely amazing weekend on Canada lake! The back room looks straight out on the water and was such a serene and relaxing scene. Two of the bedrooms also share the view and it was incredible to fall asleep/wake up right on the water each morning.
John and his wife were so kind and had great hiking recommendations. Their shop next door has anything you could possibly need so don't worry if you forget something.
Hope to make it back up there soon!
