About this property
Whetstone Vista / Family Home W/Great Views. Walk to the Slopes! Fireplace
Stop looking for the perfect vacation rental because this one checks all the boxes! Walking distance to skiing and hiking, huge outdoor decks, fantastic views, open concept living, and the list goes on! One of the first homes on Whetstone Road and lovingly cared for by the same family for over 40 years this home is special indeed. Pull up the driveway and take a deep breath of clean mountain air. This home sits up and takes in commanding views of Mt. Crested Butte and the surrounding mountains. The oversized garage is a great place to park the car or store bikes and ski gear for the adventurer in all of us.
Inside the home you will find an open concept floor plan with lots of natural light and vaulted ceilings. With the exception of the master suite on the second level, this home lives all on one floor! The mudroom/laundry is large and will hold all of your gear so kick off your shoes and start your vacation. Cozy up to the gas fireplace in the living room and watch the big game or start a game of cards on the dining room table. The cooks can be in the kitchen with granite countertops and a large island to serve it up buffet style after a day of activities. Down the hall are two guest bedrooms each with en-suite baths. The bunk room has two sets of bunks with double beds on the bottom and twin beds on the top. The other guest bedroom is spacious and has a queen bed. All of the closets in the home have Elfa closet systems to make organizing easy.
Upstairs is the spacious master suite with king bed and sofa sitting area. Kick back and enjoy morning coffee while watching the news or taking in the breathtaking views from the wall of windows. The master bath has the same views and has a large shower and granite countertops. Outside you will find expansive decks with incredible views, gas grill and patio furniture for dining al fresco. Take a short walk down Whetstone Road and snap into your skis in the winter and hike the mountain in the Summer and Fall! It doesn't get any more convenient!
This property is also serviced by the new First Tracks free shuttle system. Click on the QR code in your welcome app and request a ride to the base area where you can ski or catch a shuttle down to town for shopping and dining. They come right to the property and it's FREE!

What an amazing stay at Whetstone Vista. The house has everything you need - from pantry staples to the location to the slopes. Keep in mind that it is a bit of a walk past the columbine condos to get onto the hill. We tried to find a way to ski back to the house from Columbine hill trail and got close but still had to walk. The bus only runs hourly Monday thru Friday to get you to the town shuttle but saturdays and sundays it runs every 30 min which is great. We did walk down the ski slope to connect to the town shuttle which was fine. Suggest you pack your yak trax grips! We would love to stay again. Plenty of games for the kids, the couch in the upstairs master pulls out which was great when our 7 year old needed her own space away from the bunk room. Iron horse property management is extremely responsive and brought over humidifiers when we did not find any at the home.
House was over all very nice and we would stay again. Just a few observations and suggestions:
- Walking distance to mountain, if you are familiar with skiing and not a beginner- prob 5 mins down the street. But, you have to ski in at the end of the day, if you are not looking to take the shuttle back up to ouse (COVID-19). We would go to base and relax for Apre' but you have to take the ski chair back up to get back house - its 1 mile to walk back the other way around.
- Rooms and mattresses were wonderful.
- Needs more plates and bowls (there were no bowl) and only 6 dinner plates.... otherwise well stocked kitchen; blender, crockpot etc.
- Garage (which didnt fit a second car (owners was already in there) said to leave all boots and shoes in garage; so a bench in garage would be nice to put on ski boots, but there is an amazing mud room which then has a sign that says please leave ski boots in mudroom.......
- One of the cars we had could not make it up drive way, too icy/3" slush. Must have 4Wheel Drive- and there is no place to alternately park. - The rental agency did come out to house and place rocks to assist; they were responsive to our calls for help.
- Living room furniture is nice/pretty but the chairs are not very comfortable to relax after a long day of skiing.
- Great grill and deck for relaxing.
Great house which was rented for an 8 person ski trip. The house location is about a 5 min walk to the slopes. Kitchen was good for cooking large meals and the living space was very cozy. Minor inconvenience was intermittent Wifi connectivity, not a game changer.
Great experience renting with Ironhorse. The property is in a great location to access the mountain. Well stocked kitchen, clean, big mud room and comfortable beds. Easy, accommodating and helpful communication with Ironhorse. Thank you
We enjoyed our stay! Close walking to slopes, really needs a hot tub, and a couple more comfy couches, sofas for relaxing by fireplace. Otherwise it had everything there. Great place, great view.
We had a great time at this property. It was so nice to sit by the fireplace, look down over the ski village and cozy up with the family. We were also able to ride a short way over the ski run and ride the bike path into town. Such and great setup with the bunk beds, large master bedroom with couch and mud room. Loved every minute of it!
This place is the bees knees! Made our trip to Crested Butte one for the books! Big, open roomy living room and kitchen. Large sun soaked patio. Had everything we'd ever need. And only a 4 minute walk to the slopes. Good stuff.
Only thing that would make this place better is a nice bubbly hot tub out on that big ol patio. Would really been the cats meow if they had that! Great place regardless, highly recommended!
We enjoyed our stay. We had 3 couples. It was the right amount of space for us. The mud room cubbies for our coats and shoes was nice. The kitchen was well equipped for our in house meals The management team responded quickly to our questions and requests. We would definitely return.
The house was great, perfect for our family. The location was great, you can walk down the road and ski down to the lifts or jump on the free shuttle that runs right in front of the house and takes you to the base. We had a great time staying here.
The location of the property in relation to the slopes was amazing. Just a short walk to drop right into the main lifts and easy to ski back to. The home itself was very roomy and had everything we needed. Fantastic spot for a mountain week or weekend get-away with family and friends!
