We appreciated the opportunity to stay in this beautiful, light-filled home above fairly quiet, lovely Little Star Lake. Fall color was at its peak. The home is spacious and welcoming, with gorgeous hardwood floors in the living area, a wall-equipped kitchen, a cozy office/tv rooms and three king bedrooms with top-of-the-line linens.
The home is located on a mile-long, walkable road just a few minutes from Little Star Beach Park and the charming downtown Manitowish Waters, where we enjoyed delicious coffee and breakfast at Dixie’s and groceries from the Village Market, across from an in-town park. The paved, 52-mile Vilas bike trail was perfect. With excellent suggestions from the Discovery Center, we hiked the Powell Marsh wildlife management area, Van Vliet hemlock preserve and Lakeshore Drive and Cathedral Point on South Trout Lake.
Our big surprise was seeing a white (leucistic) deer, accompanied by a white-tailed deer, in our yard at dusk, Although we did not get to see loons on Little Star Lake, we heard one three mornings. We also saw black squirrels, new to us.
There are endless options for enjoying nature and outdoor activities in the area then returning to the best hone-away-from-home, with a sunset view, a nice dock. An extra benefit is that the home also allows a small dog, offering a big round bed at the end of a day exploring the many new scents and sights.
