Very clean, whole property is well kept, owners are readily available and we enjoyed visiting with them on the pier over coffee. The bed is comfortable and the kitchen well stocked, the view of the lake from the cottage is amazing Very quiet for sleeping and convenient to Manitowish Waters for shopping.
If you're looking for a relaxing getaway in a beautiful lakefront setting, this is the place! The owners are on-site, very helpful, and genuinely kind. They took care of anything we needed promptly while being respectful of our privacy. They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable—even offering their basement bedroom during a record heatwave (we didn’t need to use it, but the offer was appreciated). The property is beautifully landscaped and perfectly located—right on the lake and close to town. The dock was a favorite spot to enjoy our morning coffee or try our luck fishing, and the fire pit area offered a great view in the evenings. Having access to a small boat was a nice bonus; we used it to fish and explore the connected lakes. The cabin was small but charming—clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. We both slept better than we do at home and even enjoyed cooking a few meals there. During a power outage, the generator and A/C made a huge difference and kept things comfortable for the two of us.We also enjoyed exploring the town and local restaurants. Some Nerve Brewing had some great beers to try, and Manny's was a fun spot on the weekend with live music and a lively outdoor seating area. There's a huge bike trail system nearby, so definitely bring your bikes!
Could not imagine a more perfect place for lake fishing
This cabin was heaven on earth for my husband. He could use the small boat to go out fishing whenever he wanted. The host, Tom, clued him in to all the good fishing spots. Both hosts were very lovely. The cabin was perfection inside as well as outside; well located for groceries and restaurants, yet super quiet. We are already planning our next trip here!
Tom and Karen were great hosts, cabin was very clean and cozy, the dock was very close to the cabin and was set up perfect for my boat had a great time!
The studio cabin is just as described with Tom and Karen being great host. With great weather and the availability of a fishing boat and having a campfire made the experience even more wonderful. We will be back soon.
We loved every minute of our vacation. Cabin was absolutely perfect and the lakes are gorgeous. Tom and Karen are wonderful people and we enjoyed visiting with them. They have everything you need to make your stay very enjoyable.
We had a wonderful vacation. The cabin was very nice and the property managers were very accommodating. Everything was beautiful including the view out the front patio door which looks out onto the lake
Tom and Karen are so kind and friendly. They are eager to please and they make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Wonderful property that is very well maintained.
Staying at this property was truely a pleasure with the beautiful scenery and being able to use the dock, kyaks and fishing boat. Tom & Karen's attention to detail in the guest studio was perfect as we had everything and more for our 4 night stay. They were gracious and wonderful hosts and we hope to stay again next year!
The property is private, clean, and well kept. The cabin was spotless and the accomodations were perfect for my husband and myself. We felt like we were staying in a friend's coach house. We were very comfortable, the view was beautiful and our hosts Karen and Tom were very gracious and helpful.

Beautiful property as well as fabulous hosts
From the minute we arrived until the sad leaving we had a wonderful time. Karen and Tom were both very conscientious about making our stay comfortable.
The property was impeccably clean and very nicely decorated and the grounds were beautiful. There was a plethora of information about the lake and surrounding area in the cabin and they were always ready to answer any questions we had.
We hope it will be possible to return sometime.
We stayed for a wonderful week at this cozy cabin on Manitowish Lake. The hosts were excellent and very friendly/helpful. We brought our own boat and spent a lot of time exploring the 10 connecting lakes. Our hosts gave us great recommendations/maps for fishing. Relaxing in the chairs on the dock was a great way to spend evenings. We visited delicious restaurants/supper clubs in the area (hosts provided lots of pamphlets about local establishments). We highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a cozy cabin getaway. We will be back next year!!

About the host
Hosted by thomas
I, Tom (Dr Cheese), am a retired, third-generation cheesemaker from central Wisconsin, earning my PhD from the Department of Food Science at UW-Madison. My career was devoted in it's entirety to the art of cheesemaking, specifically research and quality control for local Wisconsin companies. Hence the photo of the wood burning oven which is a feature in our cabin where my wife, Karen, and I pursue our hobby of pizza making and wood-oven delicacies when our friends and family gather - the cabin then is humorously referred to as 'PIZZA AND PAD' ! Karen and I have been bringing our family up to the north woods area to vacation for years and years so it was without hesitation that we chose this area to retire. Now we are blessed to spend all of our time in the splendor of the four seasons her in northern Wisconsin. We feel especially blessed to be able to share Birchwood with guests.
Why they chose this property
Relaxing and enjoying the serenity of the north after a long day of fishing and swimming is what you will experience here at Birchwood Cabin. However, you do not have to be a fisherman to enjoy our area. The Manitowish Waters (MW) community flourishes with activities all year around. The community park offers seasonal 'Music in the Park' on Sundays; and many guests take in the local water skiers shows on nearby Rest Lake (accessible by auto or boat). Multiple wonderful restaurants are available close by - also by auto or boat. The MW Discovery Center offers opportunities for informative and educational sessions on subjects of nature. Available on the grounds of the Center are walking and hiking, kayaking and canoeing, etc. There are miles of beautifully paved and safe navigating bike trails very near our cabin that traverse users into beautiful north woods scenery and along picturesque roadways. For flea market enthusiasts, seasonal Thursday mornings the MW Lions offer a 'shopping experience' of multiple crafts and great vegetables and produce from all over Central Wisconsin. The flea market is located less than three miles from Birchwood. Also available is nearby grocery stores that can supply your every vacation need. We have fine shopping in gift/home decorating boutiques right in the community. For reading enthusiast, our community library is close by and offers a full library selection of reading materials. Two airports are available - MW air port and Rhinelander International airport.
What makes this property unique
Uniqueness of our vacation spot provides our guests with a quiet and serene getaway, campfire chats, constellation views from the pier, sunrises and sunsets, a good book or a long nap on the shaded hammock. Come and enjoy!
