About this property

Tucked away in the Wasatch Mountains near two world class ski resorts and amidst a beautiful aspen grove, you'll find our Swiss Cottage ski chalet. An intimate retreat perfect for families and small groups. Authentic Swiss design by professional designer / decorator.

The cottage was originally built in 1968 on 1/2 acre of private property. It was fully renovated in 2019 for comfort and safety.

The entire cottage is yours to enjoy during your stay. We respond to messages quickly and live close by if you need to reach us.

Very close to two world class ski resorts, easy access from main road, close to Silver Fork Lodge (great breakfast or apres-ski), cross country skiing, lift served mountain biking, dining, fishing , hiking, snowshoeing, sledding, etc. very quiet and serene at night. Two great hiking trails known only to the locals in the neighborhood. Moose and other wildlife frequently visit.

Ample parking for 2 vehicles in the driveway. All wheel drive or four-wheel-drive vehicles strongly recommended during winter months. Additional parking is available on the property in the summer months.

Get ready for fall colors in the canyon! Enjoy excellent hiking, mountain biking, dining, free concerts and other activities are all near by. We'll provide you with a calendar of events before you check in.

Moose may visit the property in the fall and spring. They look friendly but we suggest guests keep their distance to be safe.

Big Cottonwood Canyon Ski Getaway

Charming and very clean mountain cabin located just off Cottonwood Canyon Rd. The parking area and the access pathway were plowed nicely so there was no trudging through snow necessary. Beds comfortable, kitchen well stocked, internet worked well, and the large tv in the main room was setup to get most major streaming services. Now if you are like me and love to build a fire in the fireplace on a snowy winter's night, you will be disappointed. The beautiful fireplace has an electric faux flame insert which although authentic looking, sadly puts off no heat and no wood burning charm. Overall really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to friends.

What a wonderful place

The Swiss Cottage is a real gem! We would gladly return in summer or winter. The home is thoughtfully appointed from top to bottom - we enjoyed cooking and dining at the large dining table and then retiring to the large communal area with comfy couch and a variety of DVDs and shows to choose from in the evening. We enjoyed using the outdoor gas grill one evening and sharing the twilight with the busy hummingbirds and other fauna. While we didn't see a moose in the actual neighborhood, we did see two sets of ears across the street on a nearby trail, early one morning. This cottage is conveniently located off the main road, yet surprisingly private. There is some road noise when all the windows are open, though apart from the occasional pack of Harley riders, it is relatively calm. We loved being near nature! There are several local trails and creeks that we visited almost daily. We enjoyed heading up the mountain to the Brighton resort and doing the Silver Lake stroll, as well as having pizza and ice cream at the Solitude resort one night. The bathroom is funky and fun - a sunken tub allows you to feel almost as if you are bathing in nature. The upstairs den was perfect for our kiddo, with plenty of twin beds and puzzles and toys to entertain (and keep him up at night!). The main bedroom downstairs had an ample closet and plenty of space to store bags and things. We loved having coffee on the deck each morning and wandering around to meet Lulu, the cat down the road. What a pleasant experience at your cottage and thank you for all of the hospitality!
