Having visited Bald Head Island for the first time in 2016 as part of a girls getaway weekend, Tamara immediately fell in love with the uniqueness of the island. In 2018, the Harless' sold their vacation lake house in VA after concluding the family was just too much of a beach family to not have a house closer to a larger body of saltier water. It took Gary only a single visit in that same year to conclude that Bald Head Island was the place to be. As luck would have it, the start of the search for a new home occurred only a few short months after Hurricane Florence laid her marks on the Island leaving very little inventory of existing homes available. There were, however, several buildable lots, just no builders available as they were all still recovering from Florence. While we love the multiple ecosystems of the Island, we could not see ourselves sitting on our porch seeing anything other than the Atlantic.
We found a lot providing unobstructed views of the water and decided to build. Enter Gary and the Deep Run Renovations team from Richmond. After a few months of preparation for building in North Carolina, Gary and much of the team from Richmond traveled south and began the home that would accommodate our larger family as well as other families (like yourselves) as our guest. The house was completed in almost a year to the date of pilings first pounded into the sand, with Good Vibes welcoming its' first guests on July 5, 2020.
