About this property

Quaint Cottage on Tidal Creek with Private Dock, minutes to Shellman Bluff

This quaint cottage is located on a quiet road that dead ends into McCoy Creek. Home has a private dock with some of the most beautiful Eastern views and sunrises available. Home is 400 square foot with one bedroom and one bathroom and a large screened in front porch. This cottage makes you relax the moment you walk in the door and has been completely remodeled so that each guest has all the comforts of home. Dock is brand new and will provide you access to a lively tidal creek that flows into White Chimney River and all the barrier islands that we love on the Georgia Coast.

Tide goes completely out at most low tides so you would have a 2+ hour wait time to come in or go out of the river.

The yard is large enough so a guest can bring a boat and more than one vehicle. Do not park behind the home. This is where the septic tank is located. Disregard of this notice may result in extra costs to guest should any damages occur.

No pets allowed. Sorry for any inconvenience.

A Quiet & Peaceful Retreat
My husband & I had a fantastic time here! The cottage is in the perfect location & the hosts were amazing. All descriptions of the property were accurate - there were no unpleasant surprises! If you like to fish/crab this is the ultimate place to stay! The screened in porch was nice. There are good restaurants in the Darien area, also. But if you prefer to eat in, the kitchen is well appointed. We definitely want to stay here again.

Quaint, Cozy, Adventurous
We were looking for an outdoorsy vibe that was quiet and full of things to do, we were not disappointed and felt it exceeded expectations. We’ve been traveling since November. National parks, beaches and this was something my husband wanted to do that was totally different. The marsh is an experience! Kayaking out to the inlets was super cool and is right out the back door. The tide coming in and out each day is so fascinating. Having the kayaks and life jackets was such a bonus. We left ours behind. The cottage is small but super comfortable and exactly what we were looking for and had everything we needed to be comfortable for two weeks. Full kitchen and washer and dryer was a must as we eat most our meals in or prep and take with us and we packed light so needed to do laundry regularly. The location is perfect. You can check out Savannah, Jekyll Island and St. Simons for a fun day trip. The bed is super comfy. I’d like to address some of the reviews as I rely so much on them when choosing a place to stay. Yes the cottage has some interesting take aways but that’s what makes it unique and fun. Yes it’s lived in, all places are, dispite that, it’s super clean. We had plenty of towels and hot water. I would book this place again in a heart beat. Emilys communication is amazing! Anytime I had a question she replied near immediately.

Cute cottage
The cottage was very cute, just perfect for two people. It was spotless and had everything we needed for a nice week. Being on the tidal creek was a plus. It was nice to sit on the screened porch with comfy furniture to watch the tide move quickly in and out. Loved Harris Neck Wildlife Refuge close by. Went there twice.

My husband and I have longed to own this property for many years as my grandparents once owned it and sold it to a family member many years ago. We were fortunate enough to purchase the property and renovate it so that others can enjoy our piece of Heaven on Earth.

The cottage is next door to our home but is very private and offers our guests the ability to relax on their private dock and enjoy some of the best crabbing and fishing around.

I truly enjoyed working on this home and turning it into a serene place to visit. -I go there often to just sit and relax.

Why they chose this property

The neighborhood was started by my great grandparents many years ago and each child and their families settled into the area. My grandparents once owned the property and later sold it to a family member. Growing up we used to have many family gatherings at this cottage and would watch our elders sit in the living room and pick the guitar and sing. I have so many great memories here that I thought it would be great to keep this piece of my history and purchase this property. We purchased our home next door about 5 years ago and dreamed of one day owning this property as well. We made the purchase August 2020 and it has been a labor of love restoring this home so others could enjoy it.

The neighborhood still consists of family members so it is a quiet area to visit.

Welcome to my piece of Heaven

What makes this property unique

This property has an expansive Eastern view of the marshes and White Chimney community. You can sit on the porch or the dock and watch the cars coming in and out of Shellman Bluff. It is so relaxing.

My husband always crabbed off this dock even before we purchased the home, the crabbing here is exceptional (in Summer months especially)

Fishing is also good in this creek, my husband fishes off our dock next door almost daily and usually always has a fish or two to bring to the house.
