About this property

Mountain View Lodge by Destination Big Bear : Log Home in Moonridge with Ski Slope Views! Pet Friendly! Pool Table! Foosball! Hot Tub!

Mountain View Lodge, in Moonridge, is the perfect retreat into the mountains with panoramic mountain views.  Mountain View Lodge is a 2,800 square foot log cabin with a mix of rustic and high-end finishes throughout including luxury floors, granite counters and log accents. Not to mention this home is also Pet Friendly.  The main living area has an open architecture with a gourmet kitchen, comfortable couches, a large dining table, fireplace and a 65” flat screen TV.

For the cook in you, the kitchen opens to both the living room and dining area so all can enjoy each other’s company. A large granite island highlights the kitchen and provides additional seating. Features include stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, a large refrigerator and freezer, a dishwasher, and a commercial size 6 burner stove with an oversized oven.

Upstairs is a loft play area with a Foosball table, a bar with seating for six that converts to a Craps, Roulette or Blackjack table, a two-player arcade machine with 60 games, all of the classics, and a trunk filled with board games.  Behind the loft is a bedroom with a queen size bed and as in all bedrooms has its own Roku flat screen TV.  Also, in the loft is a bathroom for our guests’ convenience.

Additionally, the main floor hosts two more bedrooms with ample closet space.  Both main floor bedrooms are equipped with a king size bed and flat screen TVs.  Additionally, on the main floor there is a full bathroom with a bathtub.

The downstairs has a queen bedroom with its own TV and a natural log desk for those that need to keep in touch with the office. Also, on this floor is a bonus room that we refer to as the “Bunk House”, a large room with enough bunk beds to sleep 7 people.  In the Bunk House is an activity table with Legos, a Roku TV with game consoles and games, a blu-ray player, geared towards entertaining the kids and teens during your stay.

The centerpiece of the bottom floor is the billiard room that hosts a pool table with the ability to convert to a full sized ping pong table, a magnetic dart board, second refrigerator and another wood burning fireplace.

This home has spectacular views of the mountains and, from either of the 2 wrap around decks on the main and lower floors, you can watch the skiing at Bear Mountain or gaze at the stars at night through the automatic tracking telescope. There is a large Hot Tub on the lower deck just outside of the billiard room.  An oversized gas grill can be found on the upper deck just outside of the kitchen and comfortable seating to enjoy the peacefulness of this mountain retreat.

While close to the Big Bear zoo, Bear Mountain and Snow Summit resorts, you may never want to leave this large entertainment-oriented lodge. And with 4 bedrooms and the large bonus room/Bunk House, with comfortable sleeping for 14, you can bring your friends and extended family to share in the ultimate Big Bear retreat experience.

Features: Seven Roku Enabled Flat Screen TVs, two Indoor wood burning fireplaces, two game rooms with Foosball Table, Pool/Table Tennis, Bar-Blackjack, Roulette, or Craps Table, Arcade Table, game consoles, Washer and Dryer, High Ceilings, High Bandwidth Wi-Fi, Hot Tub and Linens and Towels Provided.

Pros: Well stocked kitchen. Great location in quiet neighborhood with pretty views. Lots of square footage for sleeping for multiple families and lots of entertaining things in the home. Cons: This property is not spic and span, and not updated. One of the king mattresses is so old... every movement by the other person sets it rocking. Spongy ares of floor made several of us nervous as did the deck which needs repair. If we were there in summer we would not have used the deck: since we were there when it was cold it was not really used. The hot tub did not heat and we were not informed it was not working. The living/dining area is small for the number of people the home can accommodate but is saved by the deck and game area upstairs. Not enough toilet paper or paper towels. Enough coffee filters for one pot per day so we had to buy some. No kleenex. Bottom rack of dishwasher is missing a wheel. In summary this home is priced like a luxury home and it is not.

Perfect for multiple families
This house was perfect for our group of 6 adults and 7 pre-teen/teenagers. Communication and the check in process were extremely easy, the house was in a wonderful location with an amazing view from the decks and there was plenty of room to spread out. We had brought a lot to do but the house had plenty of its own entertainment from ping pong, pool table, poker and video games. The only thing not working was the jacuzzi but we were notified of this ahead of time. We would all enjoying staying there again.

Do Not Stay here!!!
My husband and I have rented many times from VRBO and have NEVER experienced what we experienced with this rental. First of all we were told 2 days before arrival that the jacuzzi was not working. When we arrived it was very obvious that the jacuzzi had not been working for a very long time. The water was green yellow with debris in it and it was boarded up on the sides. It looked nothing like the pictures that were on the VRBO website. There were cob webs in the loft area and in the kitchen. There was thick ice on the decks and driveway. There was no soap, shampoo, or enough towels for our party of 11 people. There was only 3 rolls of toilet paper in the whole house for 11 people for 3 nights. The bunk beds in lower level of the house were so bad. The springs came thru making it unbearable to sleep on. When we arrived there was a broken water pipe outside by the jacuzzi. When the plumber came we had to have the water shut off for a few hours. We understand things happen but with everything else going on it was a lot. We paid a lot of money, over $5,000 for this property to be with our family and we were sorely disappointed!!! The pictures are very deceiving on VRBO. The kitchen, dining room, and living room was very small, uncomfortable for 11 people to all be together. The pictures on the website make that area look huge!!! I am sorry to be writing such a bad review but I really dont want anyone else to go thru what we did.

Don’t Expect Even The Bare Minimum
When we first found this listing we thought it was perfect. It had all the space and amenities we needed for our family trip. Upon arrival we realized that that was not the case. As soon as we walked in and started to coloring the property we found dog feces in the upstairs loft area. I immediately sent a message to management to make them aware of the situation, and was not met with the sincerity or apologetic reply I expected (or deserved). They just told me to take a picture and email it, kinda weird but we had a long ride up and just wanted to relax. We cleaned it up and went about our day. Throughout the day we noticed minor things that weren’t too apparent, but added up. The freezer door not closing, only one roll of toilet paper in each room, blinds not being able and to function. These items would’ve been easy to look over if the hot tub would at least work. The hot tub was the main reason we booked this property. Whenever my family and I take trips we make it a point to only book properties with hot tubs. Once we realized the hot tub was not working I called management to inform them, since messaging them about the dog feces turned out to be a waste. The lady on the phone was also not apologetic in any way. She said that someone would come by the end of day. I tried to ask for an ETA since the hot tub takes 8 hours to warm and we wouldn’t be able to use it if it wasn’t soon. She stated it was a third party and there was no way for her to expedite it. Fine I get it, some things are out of your control. But at this point I had already had another issue and figured they would at least try to recover my stay. A few hours went by and no one showed up, I called again to check and again was told they would be coming by but didn’t have a time. We’ll, no one ever came to fix it. We were left with a freezer hot tub in a house that hadn’t been properly cleaned. I’m not one to leave reviews, but proceed with caution. I’ve reached out to try to get these issues resolved and have not heard back yet, that’s the only reason I’m leaving a review. At this point I feel like I need to be reimbursed for the whole stay because even the bare minimum of a clean house and working amenities weren’t present.
