Minutes east of I-43 nestled in beautiful wooded acreage with a short walk to the shores of Lake Michigan. This cottage is on a private drive and a great panoramic view. The only neighbors that are close by are the owners of this cottage which gives this a great appeal for those who value service. Enjoy the sights and sounds of Lake Michigan with a tranquil walk down our lane. We are 12 minutes from Sheboygan where the famous Blue Harbor Resort is located along with several unique restaurants and specialty shops along the Sheboygan River. Sheboygan County has several opportunities for golf enthusiasts including The Bull at Pinehurst Farms, Riverdale Country Club, Blackwolf Run and Whistling Straits. Ryder Cup is at Whistling Straits just 20 minutes away from the tournament. For fishing enthusiasts Sheboygan offers Dumper Dan’s Charters where you can take a ride on Lake Michigan for some exciting fishing. Racing enthusiasts? Just a short drive away you can enjoy weekend races at Road America in Elkhart Lake. For those who like to shop we have several local towns that not only have antiques and boutiques but also several good local restaurateurs and wedding venues.

Quiet easy vacation!

This was great get away from it all, while still being close enough to be as exciting as you want your vacation to be. We enjoyed doing many puzzles in front of the fire, the local state parks and more than one area supper club along with a walk on the beach from the cottage on our first night. The owners are extremely responsive and helped me by suggesting Best buy or allowing for an Amazon delivery when I realized, more than half way to our destination, that I forgot my fitbit charger. We would absolutely spend time here again. Thank you!

Cute Clean Cottage

We had a wonderful stay. If you are particular about cleanliness this is your place. The place was immaculate ! It has great natural light and it’s cozy. The decor is adorable and the cottage offers many seating areas. It offers a very quite peaceful setting.

Cottage getaway

My family and I were searching for a quiet, peaceful place to stay and that is exactly what we found. The cottage was beautifully decorated, offered everything we needed, and helped us replenish our souls. The outdoor space allowed for us to reconnect and relax. The location was only a short drive to Sheboygan for site-seeing. We would definitely return to this place!

Perfect Fall Family Getaway

We absolutely loved our stay at the Sandalwood Cottage. We are a family of 5 (kids ages 5,4&2) and this was the perfect location! The house had everything we needed (kitchen supplies, towels, laundry, etc) it was exceptionally clean and close to all of the main Sheboygan attractions. We loved Bookworm Gardens and Above and Beyond Children’s Museum (both less than 15 minutes away). The yard was absolutely gorgeous and our kids had so much fun exploring the woods and playing on the swing set/tree house. Amy’s communication exceeded our expectations. She was so kind and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Sandalwood Cottage was awesome!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Sandalwood Cottage. The Cottage was well decorated and super cute. It was very clean and had all the things we needed for the weekend. The location was great, especially close to Sheboygan, Kohler Andrae State Park, and Lake Michigan. The two bedrooms were ample size for us. Amy and Wayne were very nice, responding quickly when we reached out to them. Wayne was particularly helpful for some local birding ideas! We hope to be back again soon!

Sandalwood Serenity

We enjoyed our 3 day stay in early March. The owners have been very thoughtful in decorating and furnishing this home. It was spotless and the kitchen well appointed. We enjoyed exploring this part of Wisconsin and the towns of Oostsburg, Sheboygan, Manitowoc and Two Rivers. We enjoyed a hike at Koehler Andrea State Park and on the Memorial Drive walking path between Manitowoc and Two Rivers. It must be just gorgeous here in summer. Also, Lake Michigan is a short walk away from Sandalwood. I recommend this rental!

Lovely house

We enjoyed our stay. We created meaningful memories here. I would like to visit again! I did have one misunderstanding with the listing. When it stated 300 feet from the lake and showed a picture of a trail, I thought our property had lake access 300 feet away. Although the lake was 300 feet away, it was someone else’s private property. We were able to enjoy the lake, however, at the public access down the street.

Wonderful Home and Location

Our family needed a convenient location to visit our Wisconsin families. Amy and Wayne's property was conveniently located off of I-43 which was helpful. The house itself was wonderful. We have never stayed in such an immaculate vacation rental. The beds were comfortable and the amenities were great. We are from the south so the fireplace was essential to make our visit 100% comfortable. We requested the fireplace to be started prior to our arrival which was amazing to see when we arrived at the house. We even had snow a few times which was beautiful in the woods. The hosts also made sure our driveway was cleared and assisted in snow removal on the deck and front stairs. Thank you to our hosts for sharing your beautiful home with us.

perfect getaway

The cottage was very clean, well organized and stocked with whatever we might have needed. It was very obvious the owners take great pride in the property. The property owners were very responsive with questions we had. Even though the property is only a mile off the interstate you could hear no traffic what-so-ever! My only complaint, and it's not even that big of a deal, was that in the description it states Lake Michigan is only 300 feet away. Which it is, but there isn't any lake access from the cottage. However, there are several beaches and state parks with-in a short driving distances. Overall, I would highly recommend this cottage and I would be willing to take my family back.

We absolutely loved our time at Sandalwood Cottage. The cottage couldn’t have been more cozy, felt just like being home, and the yard was beautiful as well. The deck was the perfect place to relax and watch the local wildlife. We even had three deer who came to visit a few times! Close to everything we needed, yet so secluded and peaceful. We will be back!

My husband, Wayne, and I moved here in 2004 with our four children. He is a local Pastor at Grace Bible Fellowship in Oostburg. Our roots come from Southwest Michigan in a small town called Jenison. Our kids are all grown up, married with children and now was the perfect time for us to invest in a place where we can share our hospitality and love for people.

Sandalwood, is on the south side of our adjoining properties. We always had hopes to one day own and renovate it for the purpose of turning it into a place where guests can rest, relax and unwind. With that in mind we have designed the property for our guests to immerse in the natural setting that Sandalwood has to offer.

Why they chose this property

This cottage is on a private drive 300ft from Lake Michigan. Wildlife is abundant in any given season. Wooded lot. Most neighbors are seasonal. No neighbors to the south and we are to the north separated by the woods. The sounds of nature make this an attractive place to visit. From the winds to the waves to the chirping birds to the hooting of owls. Sandalwood is a place like no other.

What makes this property unique

Owners live north of the property. We are close to the City of Sheboygan , Kohler, Milwaukee and and hour away from Green Bay to catch a momentous NFL game at historical Lambeau Field. All of these cities have attractions to many to count.

Sandalwoods Lake Access Points:
The lake level has progressively gone down since 2019 and we are seeing signs of beach recovery. The access points below have minimal beach to sit and enjoy the view, but you will be able to walk on the beach from the North access point which will take you all the way to Kohler Andrae State Park if you are feeling ambitious. You can certainly swim in the lake from our access points:

Going South on Cardinal Lane: Once you see a paved cross street called Foster Rd, it will be at the end of that road, which dead ends to the lake. If you take your car down by the access, parking is permissible on the North side of the road, facing West.

Going North on Cardinal Lane: Once you see a paved cross street called Townline Rd, it will be at the end of that road, which dead ends to the lake. This access, on a calm day, walking North, will lead you to Kohler Andrae State Park.

As an alternative, I would recommend Kohler Andrae State Park as an option for your beach experience. It is about a 5-minute drive from Sandalwood. There are available brochures about the park in the magazine rack by the dining table.
