The property was beautiful and perfect for an extended family that was interested in fly fishing and Yellowstone Park. The views from the house were amazing and the fishermen enjoyed walking to the river for fishing. The drive to West Yellowstone was an easy 45 minutes and perfect for exploring the park. We loved our visit, the house and amenities were wonderful for our four families.
This house was PERFECT for our family vacation. It felt like home as soon as we walked in. The house was spotless and had everything we needed! And the view…breathtaking. We did not want to leave.
This was a bucket list trip for my dad with the family- the set up and handicap accessibility made it possible to give him his wish for his last large family vacation. The home is incredible and location was superb and offered such a beautiful respite retreat for both my mom and dad. My husband and I enjoyed it so much we are already planning our return.
We enjoyed our stay so much! The house is beautiful and has everything you will need! The open concept was great for a family and you also had bedrooms with individual bathrooms so everyone had there own space. The property and views were great! We saw animals everyday and there was a bald eagle that lives nearby. Ennis is the closest town and it is very quaint!! We had a wonderful trip!!

Unbeatable views
We have stayed in the Island Park/Ennis area almost every summer for over 30 years. This cabin had hands down the best view we’ve ever experienced. I could have sat in the front room and starred out the window for hours.
I was also pleasantly surprised with how well stocked the home was.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in
Disliked: Communication, listing accuracy
Our primary reason for choosing this home was to be able to fish daily, which was NOT as easily accessible as the pictures portray! You have two very steep slopes and a third slope to access the river! You need to be in great shape to reach the river! It was super disappointing. The home is nice. Its well stocked with cooking supplies and utensils. If you're looking for a vrbo to sit on a balcony high above the river and watch fisherman go by and see nice sunsets, this is the place for you. If fishing is your primary reason for renting this home, I would not suggest this home! I really wished they had described the fishing access more accurately because the pictures are definitely deceiving. This was our kids/grandkids first trip to Montana and they were really looking forward to fishing from the "backyard".

Beautiful area! Beautiful view!
We wanted to stay along the Madison River because we were fishing. This house offered amazing views in a gated area. We stayed in October. This house is made for larger groups with plenty of bedrooms and space. But it was very nice for just the two of us as well. A couple of downstrokes might be the number of bugs that made their way into the house. Pretty typical when the weather changes from warm to cool.... but just be aware. We vacuumed flies off the windows and floors each day. The house lacked a few "basics" like rubber scrapers, mixing spoons, etc., but otherwise the kitchen was nicely appointed for cooking. Having a washer/dryer available was great for post fishing drying out. The contact people (Cynthia and Terry) are very nice and extremely responsive to a couple questions we had. All in all a very nice VRBO.

We are so glad you had a nice time. When guests are not in residence I use a number of light attractors to capture and remove the cluster flies that come every year. Thank you for an updated on needed basics. I will restock those immediately. Please come see us again.
Absolutely incredible views....wonderful accommodations....extremely well stocked....lots of stairs.
The views from this house are absolutely incredible. We loved the solitude and quiet and wide-open spaces all around the property. The kitchen is so well-stocked, even the very considerate things left in the fridge and pantry....and a very nice cooler for our daily use. Jenny was very responsive with the issues we had, and the most annoying was a partially stopped up sink in the main level bathroom. Jenny tried to fix it, but couldn't get any results. I felt that should have been fixed well before we got there. And we had so many moths all over the kitchen. Never got rid of them all. But overall, we had a great stay and would highly recommend this great place.....if the sink and moth problems could be resolved. Please note.... there is only ONE bedroom on the main level. All other bedrooms (and the best ones) are either upstairs or downstairs. This could be an issue for anyone having a problem with stairs.
Loved our stay. The house was immaculate. Extras like coffee, coffee filters, laundry detergent, and shampoo were appreciated. The location for fishing was amazing. Distances in Montana are vast. We knew we were 20 minutes from Ennis. But, that is what made it great. Sunsets, amazing!
The house is great and it met all the needs of our group of 8 adults and 2 kids. It is pretty far from Yellowstone, but the views of the Madison River made up for it and then some. The property management staff was also very friendly. The internet was solid too. Would stay again and recommend to others.
A beautiful log home overlooking the Madison River Valley. It was a perfect spot for a family reunion. The home was well equipped and had everything we needed. It was close to fishing, hiking, rafting, horseback riding and YNP.
Everything was absolutely Perfect for our family vacation to Yellowstone. I could not have asked for anything more, and Jenny was extremely responsive with all of our questions. There is no doubt we will book this property again when we return to Montana. You simply cannot beat the views and accommodations.
Highly recommend. Very peaceful. Breathe taking views.

Overlook Cabin
Cynthia Quirk and her team went above and beyond with set up and ease of securing this retreat for our hunting group. I was first skeptical about the name, "Overlook Cabin". When we arrived, we were all surprised regarding the size, location and wonderful accommodations. All supplies regarding bedding, cooking, appliances and the superb log construction as well as the "outdoor life: decor goes beyond explanation. The scenery was picturesque and the weather was unusually warm for November (60+) Everything was well maintained and far above standards. Due to the unusual weather, the hunting (elk/deer) did not pan out, but these accommodations made up for a wonderful enjoyable retreat.

A great experience
This contemporary log home is situated on a hill overlooking a meadow and the Madison River. We were there to fish, so the location is perfect for access to all of the major streams.
The home is spacious, well appointed and maintained, having all of the amenities one would expect for an upscale rental property. Note that the location is midway between West Yellowstone and Cameron, so nothing is nearby. The closest (10 miles), and only restaurant is the Grizzly Cafe, which has decent food - reservations in advance are a must during the peak season. But cooking in or grilling is certainly an option as well.
Note that is house is not air conditioned, so it can become very warm on the main and upper levels during hot weather (which we had during our visit). Every bedroom and the common areas have ceiling fans, and it does get very cool at night.

I am now leaving out the follow instructions for guests regarding the use of Mother Nature as air conditioning. Very few houses in Montana use air conditioning because the following strategies are so effective. Thanks to our guest for bringing this to our attention.
How to use Mother Nature’s air conditioning:
In the morning, open up the windows and allow the cool air into all parts of the house.
When you leave for the day or about 10:00 in the morning, close all of the windows and put all of the shades down.
Leave all of the fans on in the living room and bedrooms.
When you arrive back home, the house should be cool and inviting.
Just as the sun sets, you can then open up the windows and allow the evening breezes to move the air in the house.
Please feel free to use this strategy in any house you might rent in Montana.

Madison River Retreat
This property is under new management as of this year and it's very obvious. The new management cares about the property and treats it as though they are staying there. The property has all the amenities (shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer) that we've come to expect at hotels. The property was clean and well-maintained. We were very happy with the customer service (we've been in contact with management since we booked the dates last year).
There's much to see and do in the area: the town of Ennis is one direction, West Yellowstone in the other direction and nothing but beautiful scenery and great fishing in between. Just sitting on the front deck of the property is an experience. Not to be missed.

Gorgeous cabin and amazing vistas!
My brother and I wanted our families to experience the beauty of Montana. This cabin exceeded our expectations. Stepping into the cabin we were struck by views of the Maddison River and mountains. My sons walked down to the Maddison and fished several times - it's that inviting! Looking out the back windows, we were able to see elk, antelope, moose, and deer just across the river. We enjoyed seeing the "resident rabbit" each morning, a curious little fellow who seemed very curious about the visitors. We found the supply of cookware very complete and of higher quality than we have usually found in rentals. Sleeping accommodations and bedding quality were superb. Our families loved having a bathroom/bedroom - a real plus for the women! Coming from Aridzona, it was so nice to open the windows and feel that cool sweet smelling Montana air flow through the rooms.
Only disappointment was that we wanted to stay longer, but it was booked!
We have been renting cabins in the Island Park/Montana area for many years and I would definitely recommend this cabin.

Excellent home
Well maintained property and well stocked with the right items needed to make your stay comfortable. Cynthia was quick on answering emails which is a huge plus.
Although we did not go fishing, if that is your goal there seemed to be plenty of action as we saw multiple float boats and waders on the river.
This is the second time we have used VRBO. This property was by far the best and most upscale.
