Custom built Lake Front house with 4 bedrooms, 4 baths, (sleeps 16!) with 2 floors of wrap around decks and a 2 slip covered boat dock positioned in deep clear water.

Hello and welcome to the Escape Klaus. This custom built home was designed to provide a “base” with which to build up lasting family memories. We plan to leave the house in our family for future generations. We hope you find an “atypical” rental that feels more like your own home. We would love for you to come back over the years and share our house right on the lake - in the woods - in the mountains - a perfect way to disconnect from the world and re-connect with your family and friends.

Fabulous place…

This is an amazing property located along one of the offshoots of Norris Lake. The house is very good with amazing view and lots of natural light!! May be bit tight if you have a party of 16, like the property advertises but luckily we were only 11 of us. Like with any place in the countryside, this place will be hard to find and drive to (lots of narrow gravel roads) at nights. So, arrive when it is bright out!

Peaceful, relaxing and enjoyable.

The roads to the cabin were challenging, but once we arrived we couldn’t have been more pleased. Host was incredible with answering any questions we had during our stay.

Awesome house, perfect location!

This was our second stay, and it just reiterated what an amazing place it is. Lots of room upstairs for dining and hanging out, and an amazing entertainment area downstairs. And the location on the lake couldn’t be better.

Great house, cove, and attractions

The house was great, everything we had read about. The host left us two bottles of wine, which were quite good and very much appreciated! The cove is very quiet and lovely to swim in. The kitchen is quite large and open, so it was easy to keep in the conversation loop when it was your turn to cook dinner. It was also well-stocked with cooking items and serving dishes. Attractions: We rented a pontoon boat and took it out to see the sites, go inner-tubing, and just float and talk next to it somewhere quiet on the lake. The kids liked climbing up and jumping off of the Jumping Rock just outside of our cove. Huge ice cream servings at Shanghai Marina. Great hamburgers at Flat Hollow Marina. Lovely scenery and very nice wines at Chapman Hill Winery. (We drove there.) The last time we swam in our cove we discovered “Fairy Falls” across from our lake house. Someone put a lot of thought and effort into that tiny falls scenic spot! A lovely vacation time and we would do it again.

Wonderful family reunion vacation

We had a wonderful week long trip. We brought along our JetSki‘s and rented a pontoon boat which was delivered to the dock. The house had wonderful access to the lake and a beautiful spot to swim or paddleboard. Marina’s are close by to gas up or eat which is also very convenient. Our extended family had a house a few doors down so we had bonfires down there a couple nights and did not have an opportunity to use the one at our home, but it is looked to be a very nice, new set up. We really appreciated being able to bring our dogs along for this trip. The owners were super easy to work with & the house had everything we needed to cook family meals and enjoy the whole space! We enjoyed the screened in porches for morning coffee (keurig & regular coffee makers provided) and also to enjoy the magnificence of the thunder in the mountains during a couple of rain storms. The pictures really do not do it justice especially in the summer months when it is very green & beautiful outside. Our whole family really enjoyed this home and our trip. There are just two things I would advise. 1.Bring your own bath towels. None are provided. Luckily, we brought beach towels as it is customary for most homes we stay in so we made due for the week. 2. Although the walk down to the dock is smooth, it is VERY steep without handrails, and may be difficult for some travelers. On a positive, the front door is easily accessible from the driveway & makes unloading great!!

We first visited Norris Lake over 25 years ago and instantly fell in love with the amazing water and smooth conditions.
- Powder Mill cove is one of the best on the lake. It's just off the main lake channel and runs East-West which provides shelter from the wind and keeps the water smooth all day. Since we're in a cove you do not get all the boat traffic and waves - you can really relax down on the dock and float without any worries. It's only a short boat ride to 6 different marinas for gas, food, and drinks. We've stayed all over the lake and this area has always been our favorite.
- The home was custom built and designed from scratch with multi family vacations as the primary focus. The floor plan is perfect for 2-3 families or large groups of adults. The house is nestled in the woods but the sunrises and sunsets still break through the trees to flood the deck and house with beautiful light. We have rented here with a lot of friends and families over the years and the house, the setting, and the location have always been our favorite.

What makes this property unique

True relaxation..letting go..re-connecting with family and friends....hearing the kids laugh and giggle..enjoying the stillness of the morning watching the mist on the lake .... catching up on a great book ...boating...fishing....exploring all the local marinas - each one with a different feel. Meeting folks from all over that stay at or live on Norris.
Close by you can enjoy Cumberland Gap National Park, Cumberland Falls, Knoxville, and the Smokies. All of this is best enjoyed by 2 or more families - what a way to enjoy life!
