“Just wow. The pictures don’t do it justice.” — August 2025 Guest Review
Oceanfront Timberframe Cottage is a rare and deeply peaceful waterfront retreat, set on 1.5 private acres on a verdant bluff above Cape Cod Bay. With soaring 14-foot timbered ceilings, wide-plank pine floors, a dramatic stone fireplace, and walls of glass overlooking the Atlantic, this is a home designed for serenity, beauty, and unhurried time together.
From the oceanfront breezeway, the view sweeps from Plymouth Harbor to Provincetown. Sunsets are vivid, the lights of Plymouth twinkle after dark, and the beacon of the Gurnet Lighthouse flashes across the bay. While the rocky shoreline below the bluff is not easily accessible, Plymouth Long Beach and other sandy beaches are just minutes away.
The Living Spaces
The Great Room is the heart of the home—vaulted, light-filled, and framed by timber trusses and barn-wood ceilings. White slip-covered seating, antique cupboards with beveled-mirror doors, and a wall of glass create a space that feels both relaxed and architecturally striking.
The kitchen runs the full length of the Great Room and is designed for cooks who want to remain part of the gathering. It features a 14-foot mahogany-plank island with dual undermount sinks and Grohe faucets, induction cooktops (movable, so you can cook facing the ocean), a Fisher & Paykel two-drawer dishwasher, and a Miele convection oven.
Bedrooms & Baths
Just off the Great Room is a main-floor bedroom with a raised sleeping alcove that projects toward the ocean. A queen four-poster British West Indies bed sits amid posts and beams, creating a jewel-box effect with ocean views and high windows for stargazing. French doors open directly onto the wraparound mahogany deck and outdoor shower.
The main house includes two full baths: • An upstairs bath with marble shower, pebble floor, skylights, mahogany vanity, and vessel sink • A lower-level bath serving a spacious leisure/sleeping room with fireplace, walk-in closet, and separate toilet alcove for privacy
The new oceanfront primary suite, connected by a delightful waterfront breezeway, is a showstopper. Vaulted wood ceilings, white vertical-pine walls, and expansive glass doors frame the sea. The ensuite bath features a walk-in Kohler shower with optional seat and grab bars, a 9-foot Carrara marble antique vanity, and breathtaking water views from both vanity and shower. A private water closet sits discreetly behind a rolling barn door.
Outdoor Living
A wraparound mahogany deck connects the Great Room, kitchen, and bedroom, nearly encircling the house. Highlights include: • A beautiful new outdoor shower with ocean and lighthouse views • Oceanfront fire pit • Weber gas grill with propane • Expansive lawn and uninterrupted views of the bay
Comforts & Conveniences
Guests consistently remark on how exceptionally well equipped the home is. You’ll find: • Ample high-quality linens, towels, and beach towels • A fully stocked kitchen with spices, oils, condiments, baking essentials, quality cookware, dishes, wine glasses, and small appliances • Laundry supplies • Excellent air conditioning • Two gas fireplaces • Firewood for the fire pit
Plymouth Long Beach is just 2 miles away. Depending on availability, guests may also have access to parking at our nearby House by the Sea, which offers a magnificent private, Hawaii-like beach.
Location
The cottage sits within the historic former Stone Estate, once an extraordinary oceanfront property with mansion, stables, gardens, polo fields, and guest houses. Today, it remains a quiet, verdant enclave just 4 miles from downtown Plymouth.
Plymouth offers excellent restaurants, live music, waterfront parks, historic sites, and whale watching. Day trips to Boston, Newport, and Cape Cod are easy, and seasonal ferries connect Plymouth with Provincetown, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket—without the long drive.
Or you may simply stay put. Many guests do.

Outstanding property. Clean and completely equipped. Location was terrific and private. Spent a full week there and enjoyed e;very minute. Would do it again in a heartbeat. Communication with Robin was effortless and quick.
We really enjoyed this property and found it to be as advertised. Highlights were being able to sit out on the back porch for dinners looking out over Cape Cod Bay and enjoying the cool breeze off the water. Falling asleep to the sounds of the waves crashing against the rocks below was just what we wanted. The house has everything we needed and was very comfortable. We would definitely recommend.

So glad you enjoyed the big mahogany wraparound deck, with outdoor shower looking out toward the ocean (and the Gurnet lighthouse.) The panorama of that expanse of sea really does invite you to sit and contemplate the beauty of nature. We are so grateful to have such thoughtful guests and hope we will have the pleasure of welcoming you again. Sincere thanks.

Beautiful oceanfront cottage
My husband and I, along with our two labrador retrievers, spent a long weekend in this beautiful oceanfront cottage. The cottage is well appointed, clean and welcoming. The ocean view is spectacular! The photos accurately represent the cottage. The location is very close to the center of Plymouth, as well as, close proximity to Cape Cod. Robin, the owner, was wonderful to work with. I have already recommend this cottage to friends and family.

Four stars? Mary says, "Beautiful oceanfront cottage" and "well appointed, clean and welcoming" and "ocean view is spectacular!" Mary also sent an email saying "We had a great time, and your cottage is wonderful." Now, I apologize for being easily hurt, but we take our 100% 5-star reviews very seriously and work hard to earn them by offering the most beautiful, well-provisioned (even exquisite) homes you can rent anywhere. What more could we have done to earn our normal 5-star rating? We even made a rare exception to allow her 2 pets (being a slow rental month) as a favor to make her short stay more enjoyable. Weather? Was it the cold mid-february weather which limited the use of the expansive oceanfront lawn with fire pit and Adirondack chairs? Let us know if we missed something, because we don't get it. Prospective guests, please read the other reviews, all 100% five stars.
Wonderful property, just as represented in the photos!
Robin was a fabulous host and the entire property was well appointed with any items you would desire for a short or longer stay.
The views were outstanding, and it was fun to watch the lights from airplanes in the distance at night. We would definitely recommend taking a walk along the peninsula of Long Beach.
This property was centrally located and easy to find. We would definitely recommend this home for a family gathering, or just a couple like us looking for a long weekend retreat.

Thank you, Kim, it was a pleasure having you as our guests. Glad to hear you found Oceanfront Timberframe well-appointed, with outstanding views, and it was interesting to hear what caught your eye - lights "at a distance" from airplanes... never heard that before! We receive comments about the twinkling lights of Plymouth across the bay, and the Gurnet Lighthouse across the water. Now something new to watch afar. And since we're talking about watching distant lights in the sky, I have to mention that our home 8 miles down the beach, called SandyToes, HomeAway listing #212624, sometimes has a phenomenal display of the Aurora Borealis. We saw the Northern Lights around 4 am in northern sky over the ocean before family had to leave early am for Boston to fly home (so why fly all the way to Iceland?) It was a pleasure having such talented guests (architects) take such excellent care of our home and would be so happy to welcome you again! Many thanks - Robin
We loved this home. We came for Mother’s Day week — a young couple taking both our Mom’s with us. Accommodations were perfect. We stayed in the connected master suite, and had sufficient space for both moms to have a room with full accommodations. Robin is a great communicator and left the best notes for how to use the property’s amenities. Double fireplace was perfection. Kitchen and living area were excellent gathering places while all bedrooms provided separate spaces and privacy. THE VIEW was just outstanding. We loved sitting outside around the fire pit. The lovely animals and foliage on the grounds made things so beautiful. Even rainy days where we stayed in were enjoyable bc the home is so warm and lovely. Our yard had a bunny we enjoyed watching each day. Neighborhood cats came by to say hello. I felt like Snow White. Lovely home and excellent location!!

Thank you, Audra, it was a pleasure having you as our guests. I hope you walked up the road a bit to see the many remnants of the Stone Estate -- homes created from the Estate's buildings -- pool house, guest house, stable, gardeners cottage, Tea House (fashioned after the tea house at Versailles.) You probably saw the massive stone ramparts holding up the ocean end of the POLO field. For any guest who is interested, I will post a photo of the incredible estate where our home now sits in what was just extra oceanfront acreage. In fact, I will put it on VRBO so anyone interested can see this amazing faded glory of a bygone gilded age expanse of the Stone Estate. - Thanks for coming! - Robin

This property was beautiful at every corner. Would definitely stay here again!
I planned this getaway trip for my moms 60th birthday. It was the perfect location for us. It was quiet, relaxing, and away from the hustle of the downtown area but a close drive to the downtown area. My favorite part of the property was the back yard area overlooking the water. The decor of the home was so special. The Cottage was beautifully updated and had unique character with special touches. There were only 3 of us staying there but would fit many more if needed. My husband and I stayed in the newly remodeled attached suite and it felt so special while my mom had the unique bedroom with all the windows overlooking the water. The only reason I gave it a 4 star and not a 5 is because of the beds. We all had sore backs from the beds. We are used to the temperpedic type of beds which is just a personal preference. Otherwise the house and property was very cozy and comfortable for all of us. The owner Robin was very easy to communicate with and responded fast to any emails I sent her before and during our stay. The area of Plymouth was great. Lots of places to eat, shop, and do a few activities. We drove the length of the Cape one day, walked a couple beaches, did a whale watching tour, shopped, and visited Plymouth Rock and Plymouth Plantation. My mother’s birthday trip was wonderful and gave her many great memories. This was a special trip for her since she really has never been anywhere and works very hard every day to make ends meet. I would love to visit this area again someday and a big thanks to Robin for being so wonderful and easy to book this trip!

I am so sorry that you did not sleep well due to the fact that our beds -- although new and of high quality -- aren’t "Temperpedic" beds like yours at home. We will certainly consider your comments, as we often replace our bedding. Travel can also contribute to back fatigue with the added fact that one often must adjust to an unfamiliar mattress whether at a hotel or a 5 star home like ours (as is also the case when you buy a new mattress for your own bedroom.) We respectfully suggest that people with special needs make those needs known in advance before booking so that we can be sure they have all the comfort they desire and deserve.
Stayed here for a week in October; absolutely beautiful. It's 15 minutes from almost everything, and the view from the backyard overlooking the water is amazing. House is fantastic; we will be staying here again!
This property is magnificent in every way. Cleanliness was outstanding. Robin and her husband was great. Before and during our stay, if we had questions, they were quite prompt. What a beautiful, scenic house. The details of the house were unbelievable. They thought of everything!
We have been renting vacation homes for many years and this home far surpassed our expectations and past experiences. It was charming, warm, welcoming, spotlessly clean and extremely well stocked with everything we could possibly need. One trip to the grocery store for food and we were set for the week. Beds and furniture were comfortable. Our son and daughter-in-law worked remotely through the week and this home had ample space for them to find a quiet nook to work.
We loved the beautiful seaside vacation and walking our little dog around the quiet neighborhood. Very close to many attractions. The fire pit overlooking the ocean was awesome. We will definitely book this home again if we are in the area. Wouldn't change a thing!
We had an absolutely fab time in the amazing TimberFrame Cottage, Plymouth. A great location for The Cape and not far from Boston. We just didn’t want to leave. Cottage fitted out with everything you need for a wonderful stay. Robin super-easy to contact and answered any queries we had. Very helpful. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. LizB
We had a wonderful stay at Timberframe Cottage! Our family stayed for Thanksgiving week and enjoyed all of Plymouth's fall festivities. The home was immaculate and the owner was great at communicating with us before our stay. Check in was a breeze. Information was detailed. The views were even better than the pictures online! Our kids loved being in the main house, while my husband and I enjoyed the privacy of the detached main suite. Being from the south, I was worried about being cold, but we were nice and toasty inside during our stay, even when it snowed outside. We would love to go back in the summer and definitely recommend Timberframe!

Thank you! It was a pleasure having you stay at our panoramic ocean view Oceanfront Timberframe Cottage. That separate queen suite is great for adult privacy, or in-laws, or two couples wanting equally nice queen suites for a vacation. Glad it was the adult away-from-the-kids, while they were snug in the vaulted ceiling main house with stone fireplace and wraparound ocean and light house views. Looking forward to you return visit in summer!
Unique, charming, tasteful, cozy, gorgeous!!! Outstanding panoramic view of the Cape Cod Bay! Appointments galore!! Cleanest & most well stocked home we’ve ever experienced! Robin was exceptional as an owner; always readily available & helpful. We would totally recommend staying here if you’re in the Plymouth area. Thx so much for everything Robin!!
From the get go, Robin was wonderful to communicate with. She was prompt in answering all of our questions and even while we were there she was great about sharing her local knowledge.
The house is stunning. As soon as you drive into the driveway you can see the ocean just beyond the hammock under the tree. The breezeway almost feels like a portal to relaxation every time you come home. And the backyard and full bay view are just awesome.
I was there with my family of four and it worked out great. The boys slept in the basement of the main house and loved having the space to themselves. And my wife and I loved the separate master suite.
The kitchen was great for the few meals we made, there was just too much good food around to not be eating most of our lunches and dinners out or at least for take-away. But breakfasts on the back deck were a family favorite.
Loved all of the design details and the comfort of the home. We loved sitting outside and eating together as we overlooked the water. The sunsets were beautiful from the backyard as we sat around the fire pit.
Everything about Robin’s home made us want to stay longer (read forever).
The house is an 8 minute drive from downtown Plymouth where you can have some great food (we loved Woods Seafood). The fast ferry to Provincetown is right there and was great for our day trip to the end of the Cape. It was about a 50 minute drive to Boston and about an hour and a half to Gloucester. Drives back were often longer as the infamous Boston traffic slowed us down. Though as soon as you pulled into the driveway again, any traffic stress was quickly wiped away.
It’s not often my whole family loves a house we rent. But all of us were wishing we had booked it for another week.
Would absolutely recommend Robin’s home and will for sure be staying here or in another of her beautiful properties next year!
This cottage was set up beautifully with space in the kitchen to have two people cook comfortably with lots of counter space. The kitchen was well equipped with appliances and gadgets for every cook. The views from both master bedrooms and the large family room were spectacular! Robin and her husband were super hosts, very accommodating and responsive. I left my eyeglasses behind and she was willing to ship them to me!
Can't wait to return - thank you Robin!

The house and location were fantastic. Everything and more than what we expected. The house was roomier than needed with a downstairs that was great for daily visits from family and a separate suite with jaw-dropping views. When we arrived it was immaculate and loaded with all the little things we usually forget. Though we stayed over Christmas, I believe it would be a great place for a summer or fall vacation.
Grill did not work ... oven did not work some towels and washcloths were stained, comforter on bed had blood spot on it beach umbrella had no auger to put in sand

GRILL WORKED GREAT, they could not figure out the igniter. OVEN WORKS GREAT, a beautiful Miele convection oven, with ignorant users. WE CHECK EVERY SINGLE piece of linen and remove everything for sterilization. This is an exaggeration by a man who could not figure out how to turn on the outdoor shower, AND was totally unaware and surprised he was supposed to check out on August 13. If you look at our nearly 100% five star reviews, you will possibly surmise that this befuddled guest might need a personal assistant to help him function.
This home is absolutely beautiful and the views are incredible. The unique decor and room arrangement add a lot of interest to the house. The owners are great to work with and communication is easy. The only problem we had is that if two people sleep in a queen bed, you roll to the middle. There
needs to be better support under the mattresses. We were able to spread out and sleep one to a bed. Otherwise, this place is a perfect getaway and I would definitely recomment it.

What are you waiting for? Stay HERE!
Our family of 5 enjoyed the most wonderful week here. The brand new suite used by the newlyweds in our family was a big plus. The house is comfortable, cozy, luxurious, glorious. The view takes your breath away. The house is mostly one level (except for the basement rooms) so was easy for us older folks and our older dog to navigate. The kitchen and all its appliances were amazing. We worked well in the kitchen together without getting in each others way. The homeowners, Robin and John are terrific and very responsive. Full instructions on how to use everything in the home are readily available. I just can't begin to describe what an easy to use, comfortable home this is, and the glory of the view. The location of the property especially in proximity to EVERYTHING Plymouth has to offer, as well as if you want to go to Cape Cod, it's 20 minutes away at most.
What are you waiting for? Book this house. You will have zero regrets!

About the host
Hosted by Robin
To me, creating a distinctive and worthy vacation getaway home is an art form. And before attempting this, my big-girl career had involved designing publications, (later creating magazine illustrations (google 'robinjareaux'.c) and painting expressionistic works on canvas. When I first decided to rent out my weekend home so I could renovate an outdated 50s cottage (which became, with serious infusions of green-love, this Oceanfront Timberframe Cottage), I did not know this would become my work and my passion. Working in 2-D was fun and rewarding, but my new 3-D art is creating vacation homes that themselves are 'works of art.' My goal with my homes is to create a setting that exceeds your expectations, helps you feel the spirit of the place, its locale, its history and natural beauty. I've heard guests/travelers say they can recognize the DNA of my homes. I want them to speak to you without having seagull pillows on the sofa. My gratitude is great: Your patronage lets me continue my ‘art form” a few more years. Please read the guest comments to see the generous and enthusiastic compliments we've received. My aim is authentic vibe using classic Nantucket decor, materials such as massive beams, barnwood ceilings, wide pine floors, antique cabinets, expanses of mahogany countertop, engaging appliances, stone fireplaces, and views that will take your breath away. Please look at 'all my rental listings' to see my portfolio: ‘’art” in the form of unique and exceptional vacation getaways. It is a labor of love... and it is for you.
Why they chose this property
Jaw-dropping Incredible wraparound ocean views, a light house across the water, fireworks over the sea, utmost privacy, this is EDEN. The reviews give a few hints and the joy people feel being here. And many guests come time after time. AND NOW, we have completed a long anticipated renovation which nearly doubles the size of the oceanfront parts of the home.
What makes this property unique
4 shoreline miles from Plymouth Rock and historic downtown Plymouth. 11 miles to Cape Cod “proper” and blissfully outside the worst of the Cape traffic. An easy 45 miles (be sure to travel off peak!) to Boston. Zero miles to bliss.
