Casa Luna is a large 3 bed, 3 bath house. It has a small studio apartment built over the garage called Owls Nest; you can rent Owls Nest separately if it is available. Everything in Casa Luna is private: parking, fenced yard, patio, BBQ, etc. There are 3 bedrooms; 2 with king beds, and 1 with a queen. There is additional beds in the family room: 2 single pull out & 1 full pull out. So the total sleeping beds will fit a maximum of 6 adults and 4 children, or 8 adults. Beautiful House!
The whole downstairs house, and large yard to the north. It is all private and not shared. Upstairs is the Owls Nest Studio which is also listed on Airbnb
The farm is extensive and there are many places to explore.
We live on the neighboring property and we are available most all the time if our guests should need anything!
There are lots of places to hike and walk nearby. Pastorious Lake is very close and fun to swim, wade, fish and explore. The country roads are beautiful and make great long walks.
Our closest grocery (besides wall mart) is Nature’s Oasis, about 10 minutes drive. It is right on the river trail so you can shop and then explore the river!
About 15 minutes away is downtown Durango with all the restaurants & shops. Fun fun!
Come gather at our ranch!
There is plenty of parking! The normal two spaces in front of the garage. And if you would like to park in the garage, just let me know. There is more parking for bigger rigs in the gravel drive.
There are lots of farm animals but the big ones are fenced in! Just ask of you would like to pet & play with fun farm animals. Donkey is very friendly! Warning: sometimes there is a bull in the field, so ask before you hike. We welcome Events and Parties! Please tell us if you are planning an event or party! Very welcoming. The space was clean and well decorated. Quiet and spacious. I wish we could have spent more time there! It was very comfortable. Highly recommend.
Wonderful stay, wonderful host, wonderful experience. The house is lovely, as well as beautiful. The view is exquisite and we also got to enjoy the snow. I have nothing but great things to say. Everyone had their own restroom with space, the rooms were spacious as well. Hoping to do this again next year and would most definitely want to stay here again.

We had so much fun hosting your family! Do you please come again and maybe we can do pony rides! Safe travels and many blessings, Holly
Our week stay was pleasant and the accommodations were excellent. The owners were fabulous. If we needed something or had questions they we're so helpful
We had a wonderful time in Hollys house, Casa Luna. The home is clean, comfortable and well stocked. Its about 15 minutes out of town, 45 minutes to Purgatory. Set on a farming landscape with horses amd livestock. Holly was a gracious host and very responsive. Would definitely stay here again.
We absolutely loved Casa Luna as a place to rest after skiing at Purgatory. The well-appointed kitchen allowed us to make all of our meals each day and we never went to town once! Love the pellet fire stove heater and the beds were super comfy. The smart TV was perfect and we played card games at the large dining table. Overall a wonderful place to enjoy the views and spend time with family.
This is a very comfortable house located an easy 15 minute drive to town. The beds were fabulous, the kitchen was well stocked with all we needed to prepare meals, and there was plenty of room for everyone to relax after a day of exploring. The views from the patio are spectacular. Holly was very responsive if I had any questions and went out of her way to make sure we were happy. We would definitely rent from her for our next trip to Durango.
We absolutely loved our stay! The property owner Holly went above and beyond to make sure our stay was amazing and even took time out of her evening to show my kids her horses, mule, and dockey. The kiddos even had the opportunity to brush one of the horses. The house had everything we needed especially the fenced in yard for our dogs. The view was breathtaking. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you, Holly!
We had a terrific time at the property. The home has a great layout with plenty of room. There are great views to enjoy and a good yard for kids and dogs to run around. We found the home comfortable and full stocked with all the necessities. B&W surround sound with a nice TV is a great benefit too. There is a bit of a drive to town, but it's not too far and that's what we were looking for. We would definitely stay here again.
This property had everything we needed for a rental property. Rooms were good sized and beds comfortable. Kitchen was stocked with the right equipment for a family meal, including stocked spices for cooking. Living room layout and TV setup made for a comfy movie night.
If your traveling with a group of family or friends this is the right place for you. It’s not to far outside of Durango that it was easy for a quick trip in for supplies.
We had a good time and was able to come and relax in the evening after a day out and about.
We spent 3 weeks in this darling home with wonderful views of the mountains. Very clean, beds comfortable, lovely decor and kitchen well stocked with plenty of room. We cooked there several nights. Location is really not far from Purgatory where we skiied and snowmobiled. We went to Silverton and on to Ouray and it was the most beautiful drive. Holly and Ben were fantastic hosts with a darling family. The ranch was interesting to watch. It is a pet friendly place. I could easily make this a yearly adventure for ski and summer. Enjoy!

I just wanted to thank you for this review! You were so fun to host and I can’t wait to have you back. Thank you!

We usually go to the Tetons. This time we decided to go to Colorado.
Booked a place then saw this one had horses. So we switched and had a great time meeting the owner and the horses. Very helpful. Well stocked for cooking. Plenty of space for the 7 of us with room to spare. Did breakfast and dinner at the house. Ate lunch on the road.
We did day trips to Mesa Verde, Telluride, Four Corners, Monument Valley, Silverton and Ouray! And still had time to visit downtown Durango AND feed the horses at Casa Luna. Fantastic trip. Highly recommend Ouray! Hands down our favorite. Packed a lot in from Monday - Thursday! Drove to Silverton & Ouray. Would definitely suggest the drive vs the train and Ouray vs Silverton. Train is ridiculously expensive and takes all day for a short stay in Silverton. Which was not exactly impressive. So to each their own but this was a good place to crash and relax between towns.
As a group of adults (all family) between the ages of 56 - 84, we looked ALL over the Durango area for a house that would give us both the togetherness and privacy that all of us were looking for. And, adding Owl's Next to the Casa Luna reservation made for a perfect combination.
Owl's Nest is a super cute efficiency apartment that, along with the king and twin bed, gave two of us the sleeping arrangements we needed, a private space to get ready in the mornings, and a quiet space to fall asleep at night.
The entire space was super clean, updated, and had absolutely everything we needed. With a total of seven adults staying between Casa Luna and Owl's Nest, we had an extra space to do laundry, make coffee, and shower.
We had the opportunity to meet both Ben and Holly. Ben was super helpful when we needed to borrow a few tools to replace the license plate holder on our van. And, Holly was super friendly and seemed to really enjoy having short-term renters on her ranch!
I wouldn't be surprised if my parents. who fell in love with the ranch, make it back to Colorado, and rent Casa Luna and/or Owl's Nest, again. They LOVED having their coffee on the back patio every morning, listening to the donkey and cattle, watching the phoebe chase flies, and seeing the ranch come to life.
My review is quite opposite of the other reviews — recommend reading. The house is filled w/ mold, & communication from the owners was horrible. I’ve attached photos for those who don’t want to read any further, but I would not recommend staying here.We arrived after dark. Upon walking down the hall to the bedrooms, we saw a vent & missing smoke detector outlined in black mold. We tried to put it out of our minds & let it go. We woke up the next morning to shower, & there was green algae & mold growing in the grout of the master shower. We thought, “Ok…we will use 1 of the other 2 bthrms.” Unfortunately, SAME THING. Additionally, the windowsills had mold too. We reached out to the owners directly through Vrbo app several times w/ our concerns. We told them we would be checking out early due to the mold. NO response. We text the owner’s cell phone. Read receipt immediately showed our message was received. NO response. After getting home from our trip, we called & Holly (owner) accused us of being scam artists-said mold is an easy way to take advantage of people. This was hurtful, considering we had been in the area for a funeral. I have attached pictures for you to see that cleanliness is NOT 10/10. Tidy? Sure.Communication 0/10. Holly may not have wanted to refund us for nights we didn’t stay, but we would have appreciated communication. It’s not like we tried to get our night we stayed there for free
We stayed at this property as it was close to a wedding we attended. There were 9 of us total, the sleeping arrangements were not the greatest especially for the 3 teenagers. Lucky for us we brought our own air mattress. There was only one TV in the house, we dont watch a lot of TV but it would have been nice to have one or two more since there were so many of us staying there. Besides the sleeping arrangement and the TV the house was great! Location was perfect and views were awesome. We had a difficult time locating the property at first and the owner answered our call right away and helped us find it. She was great and was there if we needed anything. We would definitely stay there again!
Although this was an older home, I loved the layout of it! It met our needs wonderfully!! There were a few things that needed to be fixed and the owners came over immediately and took care of all issues. We do wish the yard would have been mowed so we could have enjoyed the outdoors but we would stay here again!!
The six of us had a wonderful five days at Casa Luna. The beds were marvelous and the home very spacious. So much fun to wake up with cows munching right outside your window. Thanks Holly!
My family spent several days at Casa Luna and we loved it. The accommodations were perfect for our family, which included 2 teenagers, a 10 year old, 4 year old and 2 dogs! Everyone loved the animals at the back fence and the overall setup of the home was exactly as we expected. The property is outside of town, but it was very accessible. Highly recommend this location, we would absolutely stay here again.
