2 bedroom oceanfront vacation rental near Charlestown, St. Kitts and Nevis
- english, french, spanish
Tim and I bought this home to use for vacations, family gatherings, and eventually for retirement. People who have stayed at many rental homes in the Caribbean describe ours as one of the best equipped they've seen. That's because we spend quite a lot of time there ourselves. We designed the kitchen so that more than one person has convenient space to work together, because we like to cook in teams when a large family group gathers. Every room in the light, airy house has delightful views. We planned the swimming pool with broad, shallow steps to make it user-friendly for parents playing in the water with young children. With an additional cottage, close by but entirely separate and not visible from the house, a larger group of 8-12 can be comfortable, so it's a great place for an extended family get-together. If Tim ever felt ready to retire, we would spend more of the winter here ourselves. Maybe later in our lives...
Linda purchased this House in 2002
Why Linda chose Charlestown
Nevis is a small island, popular with those who seek a comparatively undeveloped tropical island to enjoy nature, hiking, swimming, and the wonderful views. Hiking in the rainforest is a popular activity. Knowledgeable guides are available to take adventurous hikers to the top of the volcano. Horseback riding and biking are available, and deep sea-fishing, sailing, scuba, and windsurfing are popular activities. There are art galleries and 2 museums. Information about activities and restaurants is waiting for you in our guest information binder.
What makes this House unique
One of our guests, who grew up on a different nearby island, declared our garden the most beautiful in the Caribbean. We just use simple plants, largely native species, local plants that thrive in the dry, sunny, seaside location. Native hardwoods like logwood, sandbox tree, and wild almond, and majestic royal palms: these are main features. The main reason for the engaging and delightful appeal is the inspired talent of Julie Toll, a well-known landscape designer based in Britain. And the setting itself is charming: sea in front, mountain behind. There's plenty to do on Nevis, but some of our guests tell us that once they get here, they don't feel motivated to leave very much for other places. They'd rather just hang around and enjoy Black Sand Cove.

Quiet and relaxing place. Lovely swimming pool and view of the ocean. Grocery stores within 10 min drive and pretty easy to get around the island. Reminded me of Maui with volcanic sand beach and rainforests on Mt Nevis.
Black Sand Cove is truly off the beaten path, if one can even make such a claim about the island of Nevis, and offers real tranquility in the Caribbean. The House is well equipped and the surrounding garden and grounds are truly impressive and well manicured (nicely done Nelson). Adolfo is truly a great resource who will fully arrange anything you need. All we did was land at St. Kitts and Adolfo had a taxi waiting for us to take us to Reggae Beach for the water taxi that would take us to Nevis. He even arranged a rental car that was waiting for us where we disembarked from the water taxi. Keys were under the mat and Myron from M&M rental came to the Black Sand Cove the next morning to take care of the rental and the driving permit. Gotta love Nevis.
Thank you to Linda, Adolfo, Nelson and even Alexis (our night watchman) for making this trip simply perfect. Cannot wait to return.
My wife and I stayed at Black Sand Cove in early June. It was everything and anything we ever wanted.
Amazing property. Quiet. Romantic. Beautiful. Adolfo was very attentive. The island is rustic and off the beaten path. The house had everything we needed. We are still on cloud 9 over our stay. We highly highly recommmend the property.
Thank you for everything.
Adolfo is our local manager, who does not live on the property, but is available for questions and suggestions, and will come to help whenever needed. Recently a 2-year-old locked himself in the bathroom (probably not on purpose to postpone bedtime, although that was the effect.) We're happy to have a manager so consistently prompt and good-humored in taking care of any things that need attention.
Paradise away from hustle and bustle
It was a beautiful property with gardens that attached tons of birds and a small family of monkeys. The view from the pool, out over the ocean was spectacular. The house was clean and well furnished. The AC units in each bedroom kept them very cool at night. There is an outside shower by the pool and one at the house. Aldolfo made sure everything was perfect. He arranged all our transfers to get to the house on Nevis.
Incredible property with privacy and local support
Beautiful landscaping on a large property located on the water. We used the pool daily and explored many of the beaches and plantation inns on Nevis. Overall, a great experience. We found it particularly valuable that there was a local caretaker and groundskeeper who could assist us with questions and suggestions to make our stay on Nevis as convenient and stress free as possible.
We've had our caretaker, Adolfo, for 18 years, so he's had lots of experience helping our guests with all kinds of issues. Our groundskeeper, Nelson, has worked with us 16 years; he may leave on the patio for you a coconut or papaya, carambola, or loquats if they are in season.
We enjoyed our stay at Black Sand Cove. Quiet, comfortable and beautiful surroundings. There were lots of things to do on the island.
Nevis is a small island, comparatively undeveloped, and off-the-beaten-track. Nature, hiking, swimming, birding, enjoying the rainforest and the fabulous views, and just relaxing: these are popular activities. Nevis has lots of nice restaurants, but if you're looking for casinos, nightlife, and shopping, you need a different island. For a delightful natural environment, on a comparatively undeveloped island, we recommend Nevis!
