About this property

Barefoot Beach - oceanfront beach house w/ private beach, sunrise & sunset views

Barefoot Beach, located in Hope Town on the southern end of Elbow Cay in the Abacos, Bahamas, is a newly renovated oceanfront two story beach house, designed for up to three families or six couples. It has great views and accommodates up to 16 guests, featuring six bedrooms and four bathrooms. It has two master bedrooms, one on each floor, along with two other bedrooms on each floor. Each master is en suite, with another bathroom for the remaining bedrooms. All new furniture and appliances, including two refrigerators in the kitchen to make sure your food and beverages have plenty of room to stay cold. Each refrigerator has an ice maker as well. There is a gas grill (propane included) and a charcoal grill (charcoal not included). We also have a back up generator that powers the entire house so you're never without power. There's also a reverse osmosis water maker to make sure you always have water.

Barefoot Beach has it's own private beach, a spacious living area with high ceilings, a wraparound porch, and a pool overlooking the ocean. It is only a 10 minute walk or a quick ride to the world famous Tahiti Beach on the southern tip of the island. There's also a private boat slip included, located at Marnie's Creek on the Sea of Abaco just a short walk or golf cart ride away. The boat slip is 11' wide and will fit a boat up to 30' long. A 10' or less beam is recommended so your boat will comfortably fit in the slip.

Our caretakers will pick you up at the dock, make sure you have everything you need while staying at Barefoot Beach, and make sure you get back to the dock/ferry safely when departing.

We also have a sister property, Barefoot Bay, located just a 5 minute walk away. It is a six bedroom, 4 bathroom property that sleeps up to sixteen people, as well. It is also featured on VRBO.

The kitchen is well stocked and we cooked in several nights. The proximity to your reserved dock slip makes this my favorite rental so far on Elbow Cay! We will be back.

July 4th family vacation

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Barefoot Beach. Jess and Brandon were amazing at communicating with us prior to our arrival and during our stay. The house had everything that we needed and was so spacious. We loved how convenient it was to Sea Spray Marina where we kept our boat. Also, being so close to Tahiti Beach was an added plus.

We have Bern to the Abacos and stay at house next door. This year we needed a larger house. Everything was perfect. Gorgeous sunrise and close to Tahiti beach. We ended up in a 33 ft boat and owners accommodated the boat at another slip. We will be back.

Amazing!

We had 3 families with younger teens and older teens. This house was perfect, the pictures don’t do it justice. I never write reviews but had to for this one, we loved the location right on the beach with a pool and plenty of lounging space. We all had our own rooms and space to spread out, the common areas were great. I can’t say enough about Jesse and all that she did to make our stay amazing. We would stay here again and again!

THE BEST!

From the fabulous sunrises each morning, to the amazing location convenient to Tahiti Beach, Seaspray, Abaco Inn and just a quick golf cart ride to groceries, On Da Beach and Hopetown, we could not ask for more! We were here for a week for our son’s wedding at it was amazing. The house was perfect for our party of 16 and the space was great! The pool was clutch for all the littles too! Property management and communication was great and everyone was very helpful when we needed it! Thanks to all for being a part of making a wonderful week long memory for us all. Literally the best and we will be back soon!

Fantastic

We had a great stay at Barefoot Beach. Jess and Brandon were available for anything we needed. They even came out on Christmas day to tend ro the generator when the power went out on the island. The view of the Atlantic was beautiful from the house, and we kept our boat rental at the included dock only a block away. This was easily reached on golf cart. I would highly recommend this house and Jess and Brandon for a great vacation.

Absolutely fantastic house

Wow..this property is just wonderful. The pictures do NOT do this house justice! This was our 2nd trip to Elbow Cay with our family of 8 adults and 4 grandchildren. This house was just perfect for all of us. Great location to Tahiti Beach, Sea Spray, Abaco Inn, Mackey's...the rest was a short golf cart ride away. Jess and Brandon(the caretakers) were the BEST and took care of our every need-from picking us up , unloading our luggage and even babysitting services. We will definitely be back next summer!

On the beach

Beautiful home fully updated with plenty of room to spread out. A great living area to gather and porches and pool overlooking the beach. A new dock close by was provided for our boat rental. It’s in a great location on the south part of elbow cay with lots of privacy but a short golf cart ride to Abaco Inn, Mackey’s, On da Beach and Firefly. And close to Tahiti beach too. The caretakers Jess and Brandon were great and very responsive. We would love to come back to this home someday!

Birthday week at Barefoot Beach!

Wonderful house for a family vacation. The house was perfect for a family of 11. Everyone had a beautiful bedroom and there is a wonderful porch to enjoy the views of the ocean, the sunrise and sunsets. The kitchen was equipped with 2 refrigerators and everything you would need to cook a great meal. The house is wonderful and Jess is close by to help. The house also comes with a boat slip which is a golf cart ride away. The week in Hope Town was great! Can’t wait to come back and stay at Barefoot Beach!

This property was very well suited for our large family. Plenty of space for all. Nicely appointed in all aspects. Loved have the large washer and dryers for Beach towels. Kids enjoyed the pool and beach. Location ideal in beautiful area of island. Jess and Brandon were very helpful in getting us to and from our boat. Get rid of rugs or buy seagrass rugs, tiles floors are perfect for beach and rugs are just too hard to keep clean in a rental property. Great trip and Barefoot Beach was a plus!

Just wanted to share a quick note about our recent stay at the Barefoot Beach House in Hopetown—what an incredible experience!The house itself was absolutely spectacular. Situated right on the oceanfront, the views were simply breathtaking, and the sound of the waves was the perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway. The location couldn’t have been more convenient—just a short walk or cart ride to everything in town, yet private enough to feel like our own little slice of paradise.Inside, the home had everything we could possibly need. We stayed here for 2 weeks and had our Children and Grandchildren. The home is perfect for a large Family. The caretakers, Jess and Brandon were great. The only caution is the deck. You have to have shoes on at all times due to getting a splinter and one of the kids found that out the hard way. A railing should be put in also to get to the beach. I know the owners did a great job getting this home updated and new from Dorion, so I understand why it’s not done yet.

My wife, Mary, and I are from Virginia Beach, VA and have been married since 1988. I’ve owned Abbey Road Restaurant at the Virginia Beach oceanfront since 1982. Mary has been a financial planner since 1988. We love spending family time with our 3 daughters and traveling whenever we can - often to Elbow Cay!

Why they chose this property

Mary and I first visited the Abacos by boat in the late 80’s and immediately fell in love with Hope Town and Elbow Cay. After having three beautiful daughters in the early 90’s, we began renting houses around the island. In 1997, we decided to purchase a lot in Marnie’s Creek, which we named Barefoot Beach. We began construction in 2002 and our home was completed in early 2003. We designed the house ourselves, with the help of a friend, to accommodate three families, as that was how we were vacationing during that time and usually had to rent two or three houses. At the time, we were one of the few houses available that offered six bedrooms. Our family has thoroughly enjoyed staying at our beach home and hearing stories from our wonderful renters, as well.

What makes this property unique

The house is located on a private beach with direct access to the Atlantic Ocean and a great sunrise view. It’s perfect for large families or groups, with 6 bedrooms, sleeping up to 16 people. The wraparound porch offers unique views of the Atlantic Ocean and overlooks the south end of the island. Beautiful sunset views can be enjoyed from the front deck of the house. The house is just minutes away from Tahiti Beach - a great place to hang out, enjoy the beautiful water, and watch the sea rays and turtles that swim by almost every late afternoon. Barefoot Beach is truly our home away from home and we hope our guests enjoy it as much as we do.
