About this property
PURGTOPIA 🏔
ABOUT PURGTOPIA Purgtopia is a southwestern Colorado condo with gorgeous mountain views only a short walk to the lifts and all of the amenities Purgatory @Durango Mountain Resort(DMMA)has to offer. As a guest at Purgtopia you gain access to the heated pool, hot tub, and fitness center ofDMMA, seeallrules/feesassociated with this vacation rentalbelow.
The Space A moss rock fireplace greets you as you enter the light 'n bright mountain condo. The slate entry leads into the spacious living room adorned with furnishings reminiscent of the wild west that Durango is famous for. The sliding glass door opens to the large deck with magnificent views of the Needles Mountains, a textbook place for apres ski activities or the picture-perfect spot for enjoying your morning coffee/tea/yoga. The same views that are relished from the deck can be enjoyed from the living room while relaxing on the comfy leather couches.Meander through the living room to the fully outfitted kitchen with gas range/oven, microwave, dishwasher, and refrigerator. We work hard to try and provide all of the creature comforts of home so if you’re ever in need of anything we’re missing please let us know. Behind the kitchen and dining area is the main-level bedroom with queen bed and ensuite bathroom. The bathroom has a single vanity and a full shower/bath combo. As you head upstairs you enter the second "loft" bedroom with a queen bed, laundry room, and attached bath. The large upstairs bathroom has a double vanity, walk-in shower, and views of the slopes. Purgtopia is adorned with beautiful woodwork and sleeps 6 guests quite comfortably. It is very accommodating to 4 adults and 2 children but any mix 'n match that works for you works for us. For an overview of sleeping options: there is one private queen bed downstairs, one upstairs loft bedroom with king bed (did we mention the views of the Columbine slope and Needles Mountains from this room!?), a memory foam pull out sofa in the living room and a pack n play for the littles. About the Area For winter guests no introduction is needed as Purgtopia has the best location on the mountain. With your stay you get access to the resort's pool, hot tub, and fitness center regardless of time of year. In spring/summer/fall the resort privileges also include use of the tennis courts across the highway by Twilight Lake, and the lake is great for paddle boarding, fishing, and kayaking! There is world class hiking and fly fishing all over the region, with some of the best just a few minutes’ drive up the resort road to Hermosa Creek. Other fun activities in the area include horseback riding, rock climbing, and epic mountain biking. We are a short and scenic 30-minute drive south to Historic Durango, home of the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. Thirty minutes the other direction (N) is one of our favorite towns in the world, the little mountain town of Silverton, CO (the terminus of the DSNGR and headwaters of The Animas River). Silverton is a must see for any mountain lover as its raw beauty and dramatic vistas are unrivalled. Durango is where we reside and it is bustling with nightlife, shops, boutiques, and ostensibly has been said to have more restaurants per capita than San Francisco. Thanks in part to Ft. Lewis College, there is a very strong theatre, visual arts, and music scene in town. While visiting Durango you'd be remiss to not walk or ride along the Animas River Trail which runs from Oxbow River Park all the way to the south end of town, an awesome way to experience our little hamlet. Traversing the trail in its entirety takes less than an hour by bicycle. Winding down? Take a scenic drive to explore the old mining towns of Ouray, Ridgway, and Telluride, a tour infamously known as the Alpine Loop via the Million Dollar Highway. The mountain drive is breathtaking and goes passed waterfalls and amazing mountain vistas affording endless opportunities for budding photographers and professionals alike! Your decisions to stay in our vacation home will make you feel like you have escaped to your own cabin in the mountains with all the amenities of home and more, an earthly paradise we've dubbed PURGTOPIA! *** PLEASE NOTE: As a requirement of DMMA, we are required to assess a Purgatory Resort Rental Guest Access Charge of 8% of the base rental charge. This fee will be invoiced separately once we have accepted and completed your reservation. This fee is subject to the same rules of refund as your rental fees.

The host was wonderful and ver accommodating. The location is great very close to the ski lifts. My only complaint is the interior furniture is not the same as what is in the pictures there was only one small sofa and two small chairs in the living room vs. the two sofa’s and arm chair in the photos. This was a little disappointing given we all did not have a comfortable place to sit and spread out after the long day of skiing.
This is a wonderful spot on the mountain. Great location, easy to the lifts. Would definitely recommend. Hopefully it will be available next time we travel!

Excellent stay
Thank you Steve and Toni for this excellent vacation getaway for our family. The property was exactly as you described and had everything (and more) that we needed. The area is absolutely gorgeous and the Resort has some great ammenities. We will be back.
Great location with easy access to the lifts. Well furnished condo with all we needed. Well supplied kitchen. Nice views. Good communication from the owner.
The condo is nestled between Silverton and Durango which gave us easy access to hiking, shopping and just relaxing by the poolside. Thanks for a great summer break away!

Top notch accommodation!!!!
This is as nice of a place as you can get for the price. Ideal location right by the main lift. Probably as well stocked of a place as I’ve ever rented. Kitchen supplies galore including all the necessary consumables like baggies, foil, etc. I will definitely stay here again.
The property was as advertised (except it was a bad week to visit the mountain as everything was shut down between seasons). Still relaxing and cozy with well-stocked kitchen and baths.

Cabin Style
We had a great time staying at the condo. The decor is so eye pleasing and everything you need is provided. The condo is clean and very comfortable to stay in. There was plenty of room for four adults and the kiddos. We recommend this to families skiing at Durango. We are looking forward to returning in February.
We really enjoyed our stay at Purgtopia. The interior has a lot of character, and the scenic view from the living room/deck is really pretty. It was so luxurious to be close to the ski lift! This condo is a sweet cozy gem, and you can tell the owners are attentive to their property.
This cabin is so beautiful we had a amazing time . It’s a short walk to the ski lift which is amazing and has beautiful views ! It was so cozy and clean we will definitely be coming back . The kitchen is well stocked with anything you need to cook dinner after a long day on the slopes ! The nugget bar is just down and the view from the balcony is amazing! The board games there were such a nice touch we enjoyed playing games each night! 10/10 recommend.
We loved staying at Purgtopia! The condo was very clean, cute, spacious and had a beautiful view! We were within very close proximity to the pool & lodge as well as the summer events on the property. And outside of the resort we found a ton to do within short driving distance. We all enjoyed our stay, including the kids and can definitely see ourselves going back in the winter to ski.
Also, The owners were just lovely, very easy to communicate with and gave great recommendations!
My wife and I have never stayed at a ski resort during off-season. Our main purpose on this trip was to explore the area's hiking trails and this location did not disappoint. The condo was perfect for our needs; clean, comfortable and dog- friendly- with great views, as stated in the property description. Our hiking took us to the Hermosa Creek, Miner's Trace and Purgatory Trails. The condo is very conveniently located to all of these trails and the drive in to Durango was in no way inconvenient. I will definitely consider returning to this condo, and this resort, during ski season.
You cannot get a better location! The day we got fresh powder we could snowboard all the way back to the building! Not far at all from the hot tub and pool. It was a perfect cozy little place for our trip. We loved the fireplace, and plenty of places to sit in the living room. Lots of appliances included in the kitchen were great. (Toaster needs replaced though as some of the elements are warped and burns things super fast) I think our only downsides were the heat kicking on made a really loud click so our friends sleeping in the bedroom downstairs had to use a noise machine at night to block it out. The beds aren't the most comfortable, but not a big issue. We had a maintenance issue while we were there and they got it taken care of very efficiently and quickly. We would 100% stay here again if we make a trip back to Purgatory! One quick note, the security code was supposed to reset at 10, but it reset at 9. We noticed it when someone was still inside, but it could have been an issue if we were all loading up the car at the same time and got locked out.

Great Location
The property has a fantastic location and is situated right across from the Purgatory Lodge entrance and is a short walk to the ski lifts. The property is well maintained, well furnished, and cozy. There were Christmas lights, a decorated Christmas tree, and also decorations along the bannister, which made it very festive and welcoming! The owner is very good about sending you information about the unit, parking, access, and amenities prior to your arrival. We were, however, slightly disappointed to find a dryer full of still damp towels when we arrived (there were no towels in the downstairs bathroom). There was also a musty odor which we noted right away upon entering the unit, but the odor improved as we kept a fire going in the fireplace. There was only an electric candle, so we couldn't use that to help with the musty smell. The master toilet started running during our stay, but when we called the owner to notify him of the problem, he contacted maintenance and there was a repair man who came within a few hours to fix it. We were also locked out prior to the designated departure time, and when we called the owner to gain access to the unit again, he got us back in, but it was a bit of a hassle to have to call to sort through that. He said he probably had to change adjust the time on the timer. Additionally, the dumpster to take the trash out to has a very heavy lid, which is a bit difficult to lift (particularly for an average size female), especially if there is a layer of snow on top of the receptacle. There also was not a recycling option for cans, plastic, etc, that we found in the area. Overall, great location for skiing/snowboarding, great access to Purgatory Lodge fitness center/pool, and attentive customer service from the owner. I would have given it 3.5 stars if I could, but getting locked out prior to our designated departure time was definitely a negative.
Dan and Hannah were perfect hosts. Communication was stellar. Loved the email with tons on information The home is beautifully decorated and the beds were extremely comfortable
We had an amazing stay at Purgtopia! The property is exactly as described, it is family friendly and the location is amazing. Super communications from Dan and Hannah - they handled the handful of questions we had within minutes. Highly recommend this property if you plan of visiting the Durango/Purgatory area!
