What a beautiful place. Surfing & Boogie boarding right out the door!
Very quiet beach with occasional turtle or 2 resting on the shore. Snorkeling was great with easy water access. Richard & Gerry are great. We are definitely planning on visiting again.
Safe, secure setting right on the beach!
Beautiful and great for families!
The house and location was exactly the thing we were looking for! If you are looking for something away from the touristy places, but with super easy beach access (just walk out the door and across the property), all inside a private free-standing cottage...than this is the place for you!
The owners have thought of everything, you literally don't need to bring anything but your clothes (and if you read the review about them lacking spices in the kitchen... Don't worry, they read it too and have stocked up the spices). Do yourself a favor and stay here!
Very relaxing hearing the sound of the surf each day
Great hospitality! Beautiful place! Fantastic sunsets! Perfect home base to see the rest of the island. It's just a short drive up to Ka'ena State Park. Such sweet dogs!
Makaha Surfing Beach has surf breaks in the winter and summer. No other break on Oahu has large wave thru out the season. An ancient Hawaiian heiau is located in the valley and Kaneana Cave (Makua Cave) estimated to be around 150,000 years old, was once underwater is about 2 miles away. Our home is located on the beach at the Point. We have 2 natural tide ponds in the frontage!! Occasionally you'll see the hawaiian monk seal right out front of the property it is one of two remaining monk seal species, the other is the mediterranean monk seal. The compound is electric gate entry only. Parking for 4 cars. We have volcanic mountain view from the home and sunset view on the sandy beach. Stores are only 3 miles away. Entertainment is at Kapolei 10 miles away.
Enjoy the Ka'ena Point Trail hike, it is home to nesting seabirds and monks seals. Early Hawaiians used Ka'ena Point for fishing and feather collecting, hiking trail to the point 5 miles round trip. One of the largest seabird colonies in the eight main Hawaiian Islands is found here the albatross sanctuary. Aki's beach which is just down the street where turtles come onto the beach, they are protected by law.
