About this property

Lake Cabin

There's a large Kitchen with plenty of counter space for cooking together. It has almost everything you need to make your stay enjoyable: a bread machine with a cookbook, a slow cooker, a pancake griddle, a coffee maker, and a Barn wood dining table that easily seats 8. There's a comfy living area, Internet, WIFI, Satellite smart TV, lots of movies, novels & kids' books, & 2 full bathrooms. Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms and one is large with 2 queen beds along with a futon mattress under one bed that can be pulled out for more sleeping area. It makes a great kids' room! :) There's also a TV/DVD player with a good collection of kids' movies in that bedroom. There’s a covered patio at the back of the cabin with an upper sun deck. A front upper deck is in the shade for those hot days. We have a BBQ on the back patio & a fire pit in the backyard with firewood in the woodshed and kindling in a wood box by the back door. We have wiener sticks in the blue shed on the driveway. We have the Ladder Ball game and Botchy Ball.
We're close to the lake, the local grocery store with a restaurant, a great hardware store worth checking out, and a gas station a mile west on Highway 13. Our cabin is just 100 yards from the lake where small aluminum boats, canoes & other small watercraft can be launched at the end of the road that leads into the lake. There is a main boat docking area east on Lakeshore Drive.
Our cabin is not fancy & classy but we're clean & cozy! :)
We have a pontoon boat and are happy to take people out fishing for an extra charge if we are given a few days' notice to ensure we're here. We're close by on the lot next door if anything is needed.
There are a few places you may enjoy visiting.
~ One is the Grey Owl Meadery - just 10 minutes from the cabin, west on Highway 13 and south on Highway 22. We’ve been there a few times & the owners are friendly, have free wine tasting & great charcuterie boards. Here’s their phone # & link for more info: 780-542-1413 https://greyowlmeadery.com/.
~ There's also Open Creek Dam located less than 30 minutes from the cabin. It’s great for swimming, fishing off the dock (stocked with trout) and they offer free day use at their picnic sights & have a beautiful hiking trail around the lake. I’ve included the link here for more info & directions. https://rimbeyfishandgame.com/open-creek-campground.
~ Twin Lakes is 30 minutes away east on Highway 13 and is a great swimming lake! :)
~ Ponderosa City is 20 minutes away west on Highway 13 and offers an Old western town and shop with western apparel, gifts, and kids' items. They can be reached at 780-388-3088
~ There's a children's playground just a few minutes from the cabin at the Buck Lake Community Hall and after playing, you can walk over to our local Buck Lake Mercantile for an ice cream cone or a slushy, or for you parents, a freshly brewed cup of coffee. :) They also make some very great fresh options like salad rolls, green onion cakes, spring rolls, cheese sticks, etc. which can be ordered in advance and picked up on Saturday morning. They also make fresh pizzas and subs if you want to take a break from cooking. They have great bakery options as well! The owners are very friendly and aim to please! They can be reached at 587-986-0452.
~ There's a small café at Alder Flats, about 10 minutes straight west on Highway 13. It's located above the car wash and they do a mean burger and have great caesar salad along with other great options.
~ Every Saturday we have a good size farmers market at the Community Hall from 10 to 1 pm.
~ There are Kayak rentals at the main boat launch as well. I'll post the details as soon as I get them. :)

Beautiful getaway oasis
When I say we loved Bev and Jacks beautiful cottage, that's an understatement!! We came for a girls get away from the city to be in nature and peace, that's exactly what we got! The inside feels like home, you feel like you belong and relaxed. You get to see the passion and love they have for their property throughout - if you think you need anything extra, you probably don't, they have everything you need and more that you wouldn't think of :) The outdoors space is very beautiful and we spent both days and nights out there as much as we could to enjoy the beautiful weather we were blessed with! I could go on and on but this review would be a short novel - lastly, Bev and Jack were incredible hosts. You felt comfortable and welcomed by them to their space. Anything you needed, a reply was quickly received and help was happily given! Very accommodating and a beautiful family overall :) 1000/10 - we will be back! P.S. You must check out the Grey Owl, they weren't kidding, it's also incredible and the owner Walter is amazing as well! The view, the food, don't miss out on this one!!

We're originally from Edmonton, but now make Buck Lake our home. It's a great community with good people. We've enjoyed offering our cabin to people over the summer months & we've met so many wonderful guests when they've contacted us for help or to answer questions.

Why they chose this property

We bought this cabin 17 years ago as we had friends who live here & it gave us a place to get away from the city. We have great neighbors here and great amenities. We have a covered patio with a BBQ and a fire pit in the backyard for those nice starry nights. We are only 2 km from a well-stocked grocery store & a lovely cafe that has great food and specialty coffee and tea. There's also a hardware store that has almost everything, including fishing supplies.

What makes this property unique

Our cabin is well stocked and has most of the extras you'll need to enjoy a great stay. We provide firewood for the outside firepit with chairs and a table. There are several sitting areas at the back of the cabin, and on the upper front and back decks as well. Our large 2-bed bedroom has a TV/DVD player combo that is a great room for families with kids. We have a good collection of children and family movies to choose from. There is also a desk area with an office chair upstairs for those who must do a little work while on their vacation. We aim to please and are usually close by if our guests need anything. We will take guests out on our pontoon boat for a small charge as long as we have a couple of days notice.
