Visiting home

The property was beautiful and quiet. It provided the perfect location for day trips to show my wife the state. Max and Maddie made our mornings even more memorable. This is perhaps the best vacation we’ve ever had. Thank you so much for helping us create memories that will last our lifetime.

Remote dog friendly cabin

Clean and dog friendly. Nice remote location for some mental decompression. Close enough to Socorro if you need something. Wifi was great, bandwidth might be a little low for streaming, but to be expected if you're further out of town. Close to a lot of outdoor spaces to go visit and explore. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

A Doggone Good Place to be off the Beaten Path!

A small farm environment. Very quiet location. There was a lovely electric fireplace for ambiance, and cooking basics, utensils, and ICE in the freezer! The bed was great! The cabin was immaculate, and a great combination of connected buildings with doors between bedrooms, living room, kitchen and bathroom. This gave us the ability to confine our dogs to one or 2 rooms, and bring in their dog kennels for "safe sleeping".Of course we never left them alone in the house. :-) We were attending dog competition activities in the Socorro area. The livestock paddocks were an excellent place to exercise the dogs, who are young and energetic. We really enjoyed our stay! Thank you!

Simple and sweet

A nice change from hotels. Carol has transformed this little home into a welcoming and comfortable place to stay. The kitchen is well stocked and the fresh eggs were really appreciated! So helpful to be able to do a load of laundry without having to go down the hall or wait for a machine. We had a minor problem getting the oven to work and Carol responded immediately and her husband arrived to fix things within minutes. A rural setting and the cabin is rustic from the outside. Do not expect a picturesque view. Once inside, the cabin is spotless and inviting. Definitely recommend this little out of the way gem.

In the process of moving from Colorado to Arizona, we decided to stay at this awesome location. When we arrived, the host told us how to get in and let us know if we needed anything to not hesitate to ask. She even gave us some recommendations of restaurants nearby to eat. Upon entering, we noticed the place was clean, well stocked with soaps, blankets, towels, and anything else you’d need after getting off the road after hours of driving. The fridge was even stocked with drinks and fresh eggs from the host’s chickens. The cabinets had any cooking utensil needed and even had some basic groceries you could make a few meals from, if you didn’t feel like leaving. There was a broad movie selection to choose from when it was time to relax. The beds were clean and comfortable to sleep in and it’s in a quiet area away from traffic or loud neighbors. We enjoyed our stay at Off the Beaten Path and if we’re ever in that area of New Mexico in the future will absolutely pick this location to stay at again.

Don’t come for the scenery

The neighborhood is run down and the view from the cabin is of collected junk… piles of old tires, rusted fencing, wood pallets and other stuff that creates an eyesore. Once inside the cabin ( several sheds stuck together) you find the owner has created a comfortable and clean accommodation. It’s a quiet place to sleep, but just know you won’t be sitting outside enjoying country charm.

3 week stay at this lovely VRBO

We had an extended, 3 week stay, at this VRBO and loved every minute of it. Our main reason for visiting was to photograph the scenery and wintering bird population in this general area of NM. The location was perfect for Bosque del Apache and other nearby birding locations. The home is adorable, had everything we needed - and the hosts were excellent. I give this a 5-star and a “highly recommend” VRBO - you will not be disappointed !!

Great cabin and location

Very clean and cozy cabin, off the beaten path, but only 5 minutes from I-25. Carol is a great host and the farm fresh eggs were wonderful. There is a full kitchen with all the cooking gear you need to make meals there, refrigerator/freezer, gas stove, microwave, etc. The host noted that their internet can be slow at times, but I have Verizon cell service and had 4 out of 5 bars at 4G with great speed, so we also used that at times as an alternative. Beautiful view of the mountains, would definitely stay here again!

Quiet & comfy

Being hunters from the south ….we were unfamiliar with the area for our “one night stay” We didnt want a motel due to having to empty our truck of ALL our luggage due to theft! No worries at this little cottage Maddie & Max would have alerted the neighborhood…everything was safe & sound …:)

Kind hosts, comfortable stay

We enjoyed our stay. The house was clean and comfortable. The night stars were beautiful. We loved that the dogs would greet us every morning as soon as we opened the door. The eggs were delicious, and the hosts were wonderful. If you're looking for a rustic but comfortable place to get away. This is it. My son is already asking when we can go back! Thank you!

Amazing...I mean AMAZING SUNRISE here

I have never had the experience of being IN a sunrise or sunset until we stayed here. It was one of the most amazing things. We enjoyed the cows, dogs and rural setting...very quiet. We also loved being able to take our pets along with us.

We liked the spacious rooms and they were spotless. Washer& dryer were a great convenience and worked very well. Additional blankets were needed on the cold night we stayed. We couldn’t adjust to abandoned buildings, vehicles and trailers in Mountainair and around the cabin.
