## Emplacement
Today, Saint-Malo is a renowned seaside resort. Surrounded by ramparts, the walled city of Saint-Malo was admirably rebuilt as it was when 80% of it was destroyed in August 1944. The city of Saint-Malo, with its ramparts, castle and fine buildings, is a superb ensemble. The walk along the ramparts offers splendid views of the sea, the sandy beaches at the foot of the ramparts, the Fort National, the port and the buildings of the town itself. To learn more about the history of Saint-Malo, head for the castle's grand dungeon, which houses the Musée d'histoire de la ville et du pays Malouin. Visitors can also visit the Grand Aquarium de Saint-Malo, a space entirely dedicated to the marine world.
Every four years, the city of Saint-Malo hosts the start of the Route du Rhum, the famous single-handed transatlantic sailing race from Saint-Malo to Pointe-à-Pitre in Guadeloupe.
