Nestled high up in the historic Upper Canyon, you’ll find River Sounds Retreat. Quiet and relaxing, yet just minutes from the bustling midtown, River Sounds Retreat is the perfect base from which to enjoy all that Ruidoso has to offer. Hear the soothing river sounds and enjoy the scenic view while enjoying the large deck. This spacious, yet cozy home has 3 bedrooms, 2 ½ baths and a separate office/work space to accommodate remote work. The office bonus room is located downstairs with an exterior entrace and includes the 1/2 bath.

River Sounds Retreat does NOT offer air conditioning. For Summer months- fans are provided to allow the cool evening air to enter. Our location in the Upper Canyon is typically 5-7 degrees cooler than the surrounding area.

This cabin is pet friendly. Pets are welcomed upon approval. There is a $25.00 pet fee per pet,
per night that will be added to reservation when brining pets. Don't forget to ask for your doggie swag bag at check in.

Great location small issues

The third bedroom stayed very cold on the lower level. Bed was not great. Make sure you take paper towels and toilet paper as there were minimal supplies on hand. Floors uneven and lumpy. Kitchen was nice. One bed room was cold one was the surface of the sun. Has great view of trees but cant see the river. You could barely hear it also.

River Sound Cabin

True to the name, you can hear the Rio Ruidoso as it runs down through the canyon. You can’t actually see it from the deck because of properties located lower on the bank. But it was a very quiet neighborhood almost to the end of the road. Large home with everything we needed to relax after a day riding through the mountains

Peaceful place

The location was a good ways from town and very peaceful. You could hear the river flowing from the porch. The house had needed amenities and we had a pleasant stay. However, we were disappointed by the mess we found when we got there. Old moldy coffee cups and an old pill container (with pills) were left behind as well as pet hair on the couches. They threatened fines for this kind of mess, yet this is what we walked in to so we were very surprised. That said, we contacted the office and they were quick to apologize and offered to send someone to clean. We had already cleaned up the mess, so declined housekeeping. Overall, this was a decent stay. I'm not sure it was worth the price we paid, but we still had a good time.

Enjoyed our Stay

The property was as presented. Nice large porch. Water pressure was fine. Truly is cooler than the town of Ruidoso. We found it to be 11 degrees cooler than Ruidoso Downs one day. Would book again.
