About the host
Hosted by Marie Duckworth
Hi. We recently returned to live in Wausau after 4 years living abroad.
Why they chose this property
Wisconsin Historical Society records indicate the Manson House was built in 1897 although the title was it was built in 1905. What is for certain is that the Manson House was built in a time and manner where quality craftsmanship mattered. The home was built for John and Helen Manson. John was the son of early founders of Wausau and Helen was likewise the daughter of prominent Stewart Family. John Manson was elected Mayor of Wausau in 1898. At 4200 square feet, not including the basement, the Manson Home fits in well amongst the other large homes of the East Hill Historic District where the wealthy, connected families called home in the early days of Wausau. Since it was built115 plus years ago this home has had only 4 prior owners and it retains much of the charm and original features.
