Home away from home
The first impression is mixed feelings. There was lumber and trash at the front entrance but once inside it was a better experience. The house was for quick view pretty clean. But upon closer inspection while unpacking and putting away our groceries, appliances in kitchen were dirty. The refrigerator was not cleaned inside or outside as well as the stove. The stove had something that spilled on the front that had not been cleaned. While using the oven the handle detached on one side. Trying to reattach it, we noticed it had already been repaired with a screw that was too small.
The bathroom was visibly wiped down with dirty cloth hence the mirror and lavatory were streaked. The sliding glass door screen door was definitely misused. The screen was slit at eye level and at the bottom was the screen coming apart; not to mention the nasty dirt and hand prints on the frame of the door. Also, the outside handle on the screen door was missing. At dinwe learned there were only five forks for house capacity of 8. Don’t expect to relax while watching TV; the sofas are terribly uncomfortable. But the TV was awesome as well as the arcade games and fooseball table. We really enjoyed the game room. The decks were great for outdoor relaxation with a fabulous view. The beds were acceptable, but only had a bottom sheet with a comforter and no top sheet. And I have learned to always bring my own pillows; the pillows were flat and hard. The ones you throw out at home. The.
This home is clean and spacious and located on a gorgeous lakeside hill. There were a few quirks that will hopefully get ironed out as the owners have more guests. They were as follows:
1. I had to request check-in details the day off. Guests should never have to request those details. We were driving all day and cell service was spotty and we were arriving after dark in the rain. Glad we got them when we did.
2. Speaking of rain. The wifi/dish does not work in heavy rain. So no TV or wifi the first night.
3. There was, strangely, only one hand towel. I just assumed they had limited supplies. Last day there I did laundry and found the dryer full of towels. Lol
4. The wifi password was in an odd spot (to me). I had to contact the owner, using my data, to obtain it. There should really be a Welcome book with details like that.
5. Though the house sleeps 8, I believe, the table seats 4 and the living room seats 3. We moved some other chairs to the living room, but there should be more dining seating if your house can sleep more guests.
6. There was only a single cup coffee maker (finally found the parts in the dishwasher). I think my brother-in-law left the 12 cup maker he got at Walmart so I guess that problem is fixed now.
Overall, it was a nice place. Very peaceful and quiet, yet reasonably close to Eureka Springs and other activities. The beds are ok (extra pillows but I think the pillow cases were in the dryer, too!) The showers/tubs were great and everything worked. Lots of room to spread out and enjoy nature!
Everything was as we had hoped, easy host to deal with, very clean home, well equipped and centrally located for what we were doing. Road our Harleys on some great rides. rented a pontoon for a day on the lake and did some time in Eureka Springs. Can say tv reception doesn’t work that well but the view is all you need! Thanks for sharing your home!! B&J, T&A
Eight mid-40's adults stayed at the property for a week long company retreat. There was plenty of room for us spread out and two large decks provided plenty of outdoor space to hangout. There's lake access down a few sets of stairs and through a short wooded area. The house was very private and we rarely heard any neighbors. We spent lots of time in the water, boating, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, floating, and fishing. The only two MINOR issues were there was no grill (one of the guys who showed up a day late brought one) and the kitchen wasn't as stocked with as many things as I'm used to. I would recommend the property to most folks, but if you're not into ascending & descending stairs/steps/rugged access to the water, then this house might not be for you. For us, it was a great place!
We really enjoyed staying here. It was nice, quiet and very clean. They answered any additional questions I had quick. They had everything you needed and then some. I enjoyed using the kayak while there. If you are looking for a family friendly place to stay out on the lake, I recommend this place. We look forward to a return trip!
We had an absolutely amazing time at this VERY spacious home! With so many area attractions we managed to keep ourselves quite busy! Good communication with Craig and we sure plan that if we are in the area again to stay here since there was PLENTY of room to spread out but then great options to have some great family time!
