The host was welcoming with detailed instructions on how to enjoy our “home away from home” at “Stone Throw Retreat”. The amenities were great and just as described. It was great to have games and activities do at the house from when we returned from hiking and sightseeing.
Thank you for a fantastic stay. The property was perfect for our family. We loved the games in the closet and ping pong table. Would love to come back and would certainly recommend.
This was a wonderful place to stay. We had plenty of room, kitchen well stocked, and the owners was very accommodating and helpful. Very sweet. I would recommend their beautiful home to anyone who want to relax.
The home had everything we needed for a relaxing week. The ping pong table, large array of games, and tons of shows on the Roku TVs were great. Close proximity to downtown Ellijay. Resort pools, recreation center, and tubing were awesome. We look forward to staying again.
Enjoyed our stay. Home was just as pictured. Large enough that everyone could spread out. Deer were everywhere and we also spotted a mama bear with 2 cubs and baby turkeys. Its like driving through Cades Cove to get to home.
We enjoyed our time away. The house was well stocked with everything we needed. The area was secluded and deer were everywhere. We will definitely come back.
The house is nice. Plenty of space. Up a mountain with deer all around.

Overall is was an Okay, but to be completely honest: 1) VRBO (not necessarily host's description, possibly VRBO App) state mileage to Ellijay (as the crow flies in a straight line). That is pure deception. 2) The recreation center is nowhere near the property (do not expect to walk or ride bikes to rec center (a pic is included to show the goggle travel to the rec center).During our visit (Nov 2025) the bridge to the rec center (20 minute drive) was closed and we never made it to the reccenter.3) Not happy about the host inquiring about our use of the gas fireplace while remotely observing the thermostat as if we're irresponsible adults. We do not 'waste utilities, and respect other people's properties. We followed all instructions and left the place very clean upon departure.

Guest originally stated on the reservation that 2 guests would be staying, but 6 guests arrived. When my husband politely asked about the air conditioning running, the guest became extremely defensive. Given that temperatures in Ellijay were in the 40s–50s, there was no practical need for AC. In the past, guests have used the fireplace and the home has warmed enough for the AC to turn on—so it truly wasn’t a major issue, just a simple question to understand why it was running.
The guest also mentioned that the amenities were not close by, but my listing does not claim that they are. With the bridge currently out, the alternate route is essentially the same distance as going around to the recreation center. If he had asked, I would have happily told him it is about a 20-minute drive. He also indicated familiarity with the area, mentioning that he had family staying elsewhere in the resort.
Finally, the guest asked to stay an additional night and said he would leave cash in the house. I did not feel comfortable with this, as it would require going around VRBO policies.
We had a wonderful time and the home was very spacious. The entire family had plenty of room. The kids enjoyed the game room the ping-pong and so did we. We saw lots of deer on the property and even some turkeys. We had everything we needed for the whole family for the state to be enjoyable and stress-free. The owner Robin was there to answer any questions that we had and easily reachable and made our stay pleasant and easy to access. We had a great time will come again.
This place was exactly what we needed for a long weekend. The house was very clean, up to date with a relaxing place that all could find a spot either together or if you wanted an individual spot. The host was very responsive to any questions I had. The property is at least 15 minutes away from activities with winding roads but you are going to the mountains. The resort facility was great and provided a lot of activities for all. We did venture out one day to Tumbling waters Carter Lake which was very enjoyable.

Thank you for coming! You were a great guest! Please come again!!
Great hidden gem of a house tucked away in Coosawattee River Resort! House is laid out well, comfortable and very quiet. The back deck is an all-day activity LOL!
The neighborhood is filled with deer and turkey. Very beautiful. And safe. Its nice to be in the woods but know you are in a gated community. The owner is fantastic!
Can't wait to come back
We had an awesome time here! The house was very spacious. We had plenty of room for all of us. The two decks were very nice to sit out on. The basement had a dart board and a ping pong table. That was nice to have. There was a closet with games to choose from. We enjoyed sitting outside and listening to nature and watching the fireflies at night. We saw so many deer walking around the neighborhood! We even saw 2 fawns! If we come back to Ellijay we would love to stay here again!
We were very pleased with the accommodations. The kitchen was well-stocked with appliances, dishes, pots and pans, etc. Our grandchildren ages 12 and 14 really enjoyed playing ping-pong in the basement. The 4 bedroom areas were good-sized and comfortable. The decks were large and a great space to set up our corn hole game. Enjoyed all the wildlife especially the deer(one fawn was with her mother). Would recommend driving during the day as the curvy roads would be difficult to navigate in darkness. A great home away from home. Mark and Cindy and family
This lovely home gave us a quiet weekend getaway. There is lots of room and bed options for a large family such as ours. The kids enjoyed the ping pong table in the basement and the community center pool. I appreciated that the kitchen had lots of pots and pans and dishes for cooking and baking. Everything was very clean. Wifi was a tad slow but you're supposed to disconnect on vacation anyway, right? I enjoyed going for a hike just around the community (the hills will give you a workout). Also this is the place to go if you want to see deer, deer, deer. (Be careful driving.) We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this home to anyone looking for a little retreat in the woods.

The magical journey begins begins as soon as you come through the gate! The beautiful mountain peaks And valleys are just breathtaking. As you wind the beautiful path to the stunning home, the wildlife is just breathtaking. We lost count at about 50 deer The whole family was so amazed! We reached our destination at the beautiful! Stones Throw. This beautiful gem was exactly what we needed! Well stocked kitchen with lots of counter space for the family to get in and cook together. Two beautiful decks for us to enjoy! We were able to watch movies together. Some sitting in the well decorated, very comfortable living room while the others watch from The loft above. The Wi-Fi worked amazingly, even that high in the mountains so we were able to stream and watch from the mini mini platforms our generous host offered. The views are absolutely amazing from this property. There's a nice fire pit area for gathering and the basement offered extra lodging and plenty of games for us to play on family game night. This property offers three different pools. We definitely enjoyed that as well as Putt-Putt golf and a full gym to work out in. There were so many amenities that we did not have time to enjoy them all but made the most of all we did. The Host are absolutely amazing. Quick to respond and helped with all questions that I had about the area and things to do. I can't say enough good things about our stay here. We will be back to make more mountain memories!
Loved this house. Living room with the fireplace was wonderfully cozy. Loved the decks to watch the deer. The kids enjoyed the ping pong table and could be loud without bothering anyone. There was plenty of space for our group. I loved the separate formal dining area where we had a Christmas dinner with family. Robin was very accommodating throughout the process. We are thankful we found this house and are looking forward to visiting again in the summer.
