About Florence Falk
I am a psychotherapist and writer living in New York City and, as much as I can, in Vermont, one of the most beautiful and compelling states in the U.S. I have spent time in Vermont since childhood and grown to love it more and more. The schoolhouse is my second Vermont home and is indeed my sanctuary. My hope, for the time you visit, is that it will be yours as well.
Florence Falk purchased this House in 2005
Why Florence Falk chose Wolcott
From the Schoolhouse, you can see extraordinary 360 degrees of mountain views. The house itself is on a country road, which is well maintained all year long. Wolcott is just far enough from towns and cities to feel like real country, yet close enough to all enticements--skiing, swimming, hiking, good food, movies, etc.--to feel truly connected to one's surroundings. The house itself is near the crest of the hill, with large maple trees for shade and an expansive lawn and deck to spend summer days. My caretaker lives across the road, so the house is very well cared for. It is very beautiful, outside and in, spacious, and utterly comfortable.
What makes this House unique
Vermont is a 'unique benefit' in and of itself. Best of all, the house is a gem and provides the kind of retreat from the pressures of daily life that we all need to restore ourselves and bring equilibrium back into our lives. What's more, it is a haven for children, and when they feel like it, they can ring the original schoolbell on the second floor--a reminder of its original purpose. In fact, one of the reasons I love the house is because it is light and airy and suffused with the light energy of children.

School House Ski Weekend
We returned to the school house for a long weekend in February. It is our favorite home away from home and I will always be grateful that we found it! It is cozy and warm beautifully decorated and just feels like a peaceful retreat. We read, cooked, played board games and never turned the TV on - perfect weekend to connect as a family. We will be back! Thank you Florence for sharing your space with us!
Thanks so much for your splendid review. It sounds like a perfect family experience, and I'm grateful my Vermont schoolhouse could provide the right setting! As I've said before, you will always be welcome. Come soon! Springtime and fall are heavenly!
VRBO at its very best
Since our daughter was being married right across the road, our schedule was extremely packed, we were very grateful that everything was absolutely perfect and easy. All of us gushed about the accommodations and the attention to detail. Thank you, Florence. dh
Thank you, David. I am assuming the wedding was a wonderful event, and I'm
so pleased that you found the Schoolhouse to your liking. Please do tell others who might be interested in spending time there just for the pleasure of that experience.
The perfect rural VT getaway...
Very comfortable, tastefully furnished, and well-stocked house
My wife, two adult sons, and I just spent 4 nights in Florence's house. We enjoyed our stay very much. Cross-country skiing (at Craftsbury Outdoor Center) and downhill skiing (at Stowe) were both about half an hour away. The house offered three bedrooms and an additional place to sleep. The house was clean and comfortable, and had the best-stocked kitchen I've ever encountered in a rental house. We hope to stay there again, either in summer, fall, or winter.
So glad you felt pleased enough with your stay to write a review.
Thank you, Patricia. Do come back soon again.
Other activities in the area include canoeing, organic farm tours, farmer's markets, workshops for sustainable living, yoga and pilates classes.
