Great house with very generous sleeping spaces. The location also was excellent as was our communication with the owner. The interior wood is especially beautiful. We were a group of 12 and had a great time. And incidentally Shipt delivers there no extra charge. The drive up the mountain and back down was stunning.
It's a cabin with plenty of comfortable space, I just found one problem, The living room is cold during the winter, The heating works very well in all rooms except the living room, But overall, everything is very good, this cabin is very comfortable
The area was scenic and the house was spacious for different family groups. It had lots of games and snow activities to take part in. Overall, it was a great cabin in the woods experience.
Great property for a family! It was very clean and close to the Ponderosa Lodge. We enjoyed a beautiful couple of days in the snow. The staff at the Lodge were very friendly including the bar cats, Smokey and Aspen.
Our property manager Hans was also responsive anytime I asked a question or needed anything during our stay. Would love to visit again!
We had a wonderful stay in this home, very quiet and beautiful scenery amongst the trees. Close to trail of 100 Giants and a small hike to the dome rock lookout was a plus. Home had everything we needed with a rustic log cabin feel. Kids room was fantastic as well including toys and games. Before you book check road conditions and be prepared to pack your food, the main road to food locations was closed but the house had everything we needed to cook and prepare our meals. Thanks again Hans and Lianna for a great stay!

Sierra national forest trip
Overall it was a good experience. It could use a dishwasher the outside along the side of the house had quite a bit of trash the area was nice but not too many amenities close the Ponderosa or in general store for very friendly and nice family enjoyed it
Great cabin for a large group!! Only negative was the wall heaters were not operable. We used fire place and some portables. Other than that, great place to stay!! Thanks Hans.
The nighttime heating situation was the primary drawback. It was either too hot or too cold and the air in the cabin was super dry which made it hard to sleep. The stove also did not get very hot which made cooking winter stews difficult. Everything else was great!
Cute house, lots of space, and great location!
We rented the house for an 8-person bachelor party and it was perfect. The outdoor options were great for the daytime festivities of hiking. The grill was fantastic for cooking breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The fire pit was also a great touch. On the inside, it was great for playing cards and chilling out. Loved how communicative the hosts were! They quickly jumped to resolve any issue we had. Would definitely recommend staying here!
Only note we would leave would be, bring food and supplies with you. The country market that was nearby burned down and it is a long drive to get other things.
To start with the house is amazing. so much space, THE KIDS LOVED IT! beautiful view of nature around. I was fascinated by it all. it has everything you need for hospitality. not going to lie the ride to the house was not expected but that just me with the fear of heights and narrow roads but at the end of my bday trip it is everything I asked for we had a trip to Kern River and the Trail of 100 Giants BEAUTIFUL! the sunrise and sunset WOW! definitely recommending the home to friends and thank you for the hospitality :)
The house was nice - think 70’s getaway. It was comfortable and very roomy and had a nice hammock in the yard along with corn hole, board games, movies and air hockey. Well stocked for a family who would use those things. We preferred the outdoors which included a nearby meadow and hiking areas. We also appreciated the wifi because there was no cell service in the area to figure out driving plans and such without the wifi. But the drive UP TO the house was treacherous -especially at night. Very tight winding curves for an hour.
We enjoyed our stay in this large house with the retro vibe right in the middle of the national forest. We visited in Aug and the location offered a great escape from heat, minutes away from the trail of the 100 giants (sequoias) and other trails. A few things to consider:
- try to get to the house BEFORE dark, the twisty mountain roads are poorly marked and there is no cell coverage in case you are lost
-if you plan on cooking, get your food before climbing the mountains, we had hard time finding milk from a few local convenience stores
-the washer is NOT available and the check out is 10am (you are asked to take our all the bed linens too, so you won't get any extra sleep on your last day;)
-you will be asked to take your trash with you at check-out
- regular TV is not available but you can hook it up to your streaming services. However, I would recommend bonding with your loved ones instead over board, card and other games available in a dedicated game room! Have fun!
Our family of 8 really enjoyed our stay at The Sequoian. Hans was so helpful and available the couple of times I needed him. There was no cell phone service in the area (which we REALLY enjoyed, having young adults and teens with us) so make sure you have all your communications and check in instructions understood and ready to go.
We arrived about 8:30pm and didn't realize how far away the grocery store was so we went to the Ponderosa for dinner, they were supposed to close at 9, but had cleaned up and were closing early but they still fed us what they could. What amazing people work there!
We too had issue with getting the trash out, it was a Sunday and there was nothing that I could find on Google that was open and we were packed to the gills in our Toyota Sequoia, adding a kitchen bag of trash was not a fun task. Plan ahead with that and limit your garbage.
Nice clean and very fun for our kids. We played cards at the table one night and the kids love the air hockey.
The stars were amazing and we loved the 100 Giants trail and Dome Rock.
Thanks for the wonderful experience.
The hosts were absolutely wonderful, especially considering we had issues with VRBO (terrible company, will never book through them again), but Hans and Liana took the time to make it right and were so helpful and accommodating, even when they never caused the issue to begin with. I greatly appreciated their patience and kindness. They also sent us a list of fun things to do nearby and were very responsive to any questions we had during our stay, even answering questions about open trails nearby.
The home is AMAZING! So beautiful and cozy. We had my sons with us, almost 3 years and a 3 month old, and my almost 3 year old was so excited to play with all the toys and books they have around the home. They also have a pack and play available at the house, which is so helpful.
There is a tavern and store just a short walk from the house - I highly recommend going there! The food was amazing and the store is so cute! Such a fun little outing.
The biggest downside to this house is having to pack out your trash, which Hans and Liana were very up front about, so not an oversight on their part at all. However, we checked out on a Thursday and none of the transfer stations nearby were open. Thankfully, a kind forest worker took our trash for us, otherwise I’m not sure what we would have done. So be aware when booking, the transfer stations are only open on weekends and Mondays.
Otherwise, we loved our stay! The air hockey table was so fun and a hit with the adults and kids alike. Thank you for everything, Hans and Liana!

"Hi Hans,
Both Lori and I had a Wonderful Time and Get-Away. Thank You for opening up your entire Home to us.....that was a Blessing! And a very gratifying Trust! It was an "Iceing upon a Beautiful Cake"! Used the BBQ twice, repaired your "Bear Address" statue (Our Pleasure!) with Epoxy from your Laundry/Tool room, and just Totally, TOTALLY, enjoyed our time! You provide a Cozy Home..... I slept upstairs in the roomy 2-Bed, A-Frame ceiling room.....loved the Warmth, while Lori favored the Coolness of downstairs.....no "problema"! == For your awareness, Tupperware for left-overs had containers / Lids that didn't completely match (used Aluminum Foil), left 3 Lighters on the Washing Machine (with a note...needed Fuel and/or a Flint) and acquired one to leave behind, and the front, right stove burner would not "fire-up" on it's own.....hence the manual Lighter acquired worked just Fine. Last potential issue was upstairs shower took longer than we could wait for Hot Water, and used bottom, kitchen area shower with ease, during our remainder. (Might be a bigger issue if you have a large group of folks, at one time....). Oh, one more issue is that we brought a few movies and could not get the VCR/CD unit working. We tried leveling it, checked and re-checked wiring, but to no avail. Our thoughts was that it was an "Old Model", worn-out. == Still have real, fond memories of our stay, the couches, plenty of Blankets, and the warm "Home-eee-ous-ness", Superb!
Very quiet area with beautiful ponderosa pines! Gorgias scenery and great hiking nearby!

About the host

We are a small family of 4 that enjoy the outdoors and sharing our favorite places with folks. We both are teachers and love trying to get our two kids outdoors with our golden retriever as mush as possible.
Why they chose this property
It so unique with some many touches you dont see in a regular cabin with giant slab of wood used for the counter tops and unique layout . In the area this is one of the largest cabins and the only one with a game room.
What makes this property unique
LOCATION!!! The Sequoia National Monument has half the crowds with twice the beauty! Game room and a block away from the Ponderosa Lodge and Store.
