Disappointed
The check in process was horrendous. I was told the lockbox code was provided on the day of check in. At 2pm when I had not received the information I sent a message. From that time I sent messages and called the number on the booking from that point until 10:30pm. Finally after ringing the ring camera multiple times the home owner calls my phone and says VRBO is slow with messages and he was just receiving mine and gives me the code. I didn't address it at the time because I was tired and trying to stay in a celebratory mood.
My main point of contention is that I should not have to wait for my messages to be received to get check in information. That should have been sent the morning of. I spent almost 5 hours out in the town having dinner and shopping while waiting to get let into a house I should have been let into at 4pm. This also caused the other members in my party to not come up until the next day because I couldn't guarantee entry. When we got inside the AC was set to 58 degrees with the fans on full blast and no instructions on how to work the system. There was a mop left in the living room, another renters rental agreement with their personal information left on the table and other things that made me wonder about the true cleanliness of the home. Overall it served its purpose on the most basic level but was definitely not what I planned for my friend's 50th bday.
