This rental was a perfect for a get away with friends. It was clean, comfortable and welcoming. We enjoyed hiking in Baxter State Park, Katahdin Woods and Waters and the Penobscot River Trails. All were convenient to this beautiful cabin.
Our family of five had a perfect stay. We enjoyed kayaking and paddle boarding, endless swimming, fishing every day, camp fires, hiking, a picnic and so much more. We couldn’t ask for anything better. The property was spotless and the owners were so friendly and accommodating. We will definitely return.
We had a great time in Maine snowmobiling. The cabin was beautiful nestled in woods along a lake. It was well equipped and close to Shin Pond and trail system. The owner was very accommodating. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again!
Great spot for a winters getaway, self sufficient stay with a comfortable accommodation, we rode snowmobiles on the best trails in the northeast, ice fished, winter hiked, and some tobogganing. Did our breakfast and dinners great kitchen and dining table will book again for sure.
We stayed at this location for a long weekend that included the total solar eclipse. The location is beautiful and the cabin is perfect. We were not able to utilize the dock or really get into the woods because of the snow but still enjoyed our time. 10/10 would recommend!

Gabe's place met all our expectations & then some! If you're looking for a clean, well kept house on a lake or pond with access to some of the best ATV trails in the state, this place is for you! If ATVing isn't your cup-of-tea, head to Baxter State Park where you can spend days exploring. If you're looking to just relax & kick up your feet while doing a little fishing, head down to the brand new dock. We did all the above & made memories that will be talked about for years, especially the moose sighting on one of our night ATV rides... Thank you Gabe!
My family of four (all adults) and several friends off and on, stayed so comfortably in this house. Plenty of room to relax. Although I brought a lot of my cooking supplies the place had all the essentials and most of what I brought stay in the box. The weather was cool and a bit rainy but that only added to the relaxing 10 days we had. The owner was more than obliging and communicated with answers to my questions really promptly. The deck was huge and the firepit got a lot of use. Just a wonderful set up. The pond was beautiful and the ducks and loons just topped off the whole trip.
What a gorgeous slice of heaven. Family of four and our dog loved every minute. The cabin was just as described and had everything needed for a perfect getaway before our oldest heads off to college. Canoe, two adult and two child size kayaks and a paddle board. Gorgeous, quiet pond made for a perfect setting to see a beautiful sunrise, to fish, feed the ducks, kayak and paddle board. Many beautiful sites in the area. Shin Pond Falls, Katahdin Woods and Waters, Sebois River Trailhead were highlights. We also rented a side by side from Shin Pond Village, visited Robert’s Mountain and Warren Falls. Epic day! We also stopped into Katahdin Brew Works. Good beer, great people and dog friendly! Thanks Gabe for sharing your beautiful place with us - The Martignetti Family from MA.
This property was the perfect place for our family to stay. It was right next to a beautiful and quiet lake, in the woods, far away from noise and crowds.
The house was roomy and had a welcoming feeling to it. The owners had put the air conditioning on for us and left good instructions on how to get in. It was super clean, and very well stocked in the kitchen for serving and preparing meals.
There was a large wooden deck overlooking the lake, as well as a fire pit area. We made use of the kayaks provided, which was a lot of fun.
There was a resort about a five minute drive away to get supplies, get to go food, and rent off road vehicles. Super fun activity for us and our teen!
The hosts provided quick and clear communication. They were really easy for checking out. They also made the place welcoming by not leaving instructions taped all over the place, which so many places do and is always demeaning. The only thing to be aware of is that our cell phones (AT&T provider) couldn't get a signal. The Wi-Fi worked, but isn't super high-speed (at least on our stuff).
We would definitely stay here again!
Outstanding retreat at the end of the road…but the beginning of an excellent adventure. Gabe was a terrific host, dropped in after check in to say hello. We saw him first thing the next morning too, as the electric went down, power line break…he wanted to be sure we had aux heat, if needed.
House is located just one mile from Mt Chase Lodge/Shin Pond Village, easy access by snowmobile, down the road and shortcut trail. Gorgeous place, modern as advertised, nice view of the lake, spacious parking. Fully provisioned kitchen, bedrooms, bathroom, everything you’ll need.
Large LED TV in the family room, Internet access was stable, plenty of heat/light, all the comforts of home. Full bath downstairs had an awesome shower with great water pressure, feels great after a long day on the sleds. Plenty of towels, bath/hand/face, beds were made and ready as advertised. Full size washer/dryer if needed. First floor bedroom is king bed, upstairs loft has two rooms, one queen and two doubles. Plenty of space. There is a half bath upstairs too, very convenient for the second floor guests.
The open floor plan included a nice breakfast bar with two comfy bar stools, supplementing the large table with six chairs. Plenty of space for four singles, or even three couples…we were only three, as our fourth had an appendectomy that kept him from making the trip. Bummer.
All in all, the title says it all, stay here, that is all. Gabe is really nice guy, grew up locally and makes his living in the area. I only wish we could have shared a growler or two with him, from Katadhin Brewing in Patten, 10 miles down the road. Next time Gabe…thank you!
This property has loads of amenities for lake use and location is so convenient for the North Maine Woods. The dock, fire pit and deck are perfect for friends, and family gatherings. The home itself had everything we needed, with comfortable beds great shower and everything you need for a relaxing getaway. Gabe was great and very helpful. All six adults enjoyed their stay and we will be back.
This little spot is heaven on earth.
Quiet and peaceful. Everything was awesome. Gabriel was available if I had an issue.
If it were not for the very long commute of getting there I would love to book more get away time for myself. Refreshes the soul.
Thank you Gabriel.
Great location to explore Katahdin Woods & Waters area!
We enjoyed a wonderful week exploring the Katahdin Woods & Waters National Monument area. We also had an exciting day white water rafting with Maine River Expeditions.
The property was really comfortable, it had everything we needed including the dock and kayaks. We enjoyed being on the water on Shin Pond. The layout was perfect for our family of six. Gabriel was a terrific host.
The pictures didn’t do this cabin justice! The setting was picturesque! The outdoor patio was like something out of a magazine! The inside had all the basics and more. Just a very relaxing cabin with plenty of things to do within an hour drive.
It was a great trip. The cabin is everything advertised and more. It is such a quiet and beautiful location. This was our second year in a row staying here and we would book it again.

About the host

I was born and raised in the area. Traveled for work in my youth and now work as a local artisan/wood worker. Self-employed handyman with one rental property, We take great pride in our labor to provide families and groups an exceptionally clean, private and safe place to make memories with family and enjoy the cabin and lake!
Why they chose this property
We as owners live in the neighborhood and found this area to be an amazing place to raise our children.
What makes this property unique
I have known the previous owners for many years prior to purchasing this property and unfortunately the property had fallen into disrepair, so in a period of about 8 months we worked diligently to remodel the cabin and embark on this hosting adventure. This cabin is owned and operated by mom and pops!
