Hogan was a wonderful place! It was clean and super comfortable. Hosts were easy to communicate with and very kind. We were as close as possible to Chaco for summer Solstice. The mesas around the property were beautiful.

Excellent, friendly, charming, contemporary and well-decorated base for explorign the surrounding desert, reservations, and Chaco Canyon. Gorgeous, fun, short trail wanders straight onto the top of the small mesa behind the property, which offers a great view and a wondrous world of eroded sandstone.
Very nice and well appointed place. Great views and very kind hosts.

We enjoyed the quiet and views of the landscape. Everything was in good condition and worked beautifully. It was a good place to stay before seeing the Chaco Cultural site.
We had a wonderful time in this beautiful hogan! We brought a telescope and found many stars to watch with our family. We were able to easily visit Chaco canyon from this location!
We came to the area to see Chaco Canyon and felt the Hogan very much enhanced the experience. It was easy to find, safe, clean, and lovely. Great experience.

About the host
Hosted by Leah Bedgood
My mother started this mission over thirty years ago to help the local Native American people. After my mom's retirement I took over as President of the mission. I love to travel to unique places and try different foods. I love sunsets, stargazing and hikes. My favorite time is spent with family.
Why they chose this property
This property is a replica of a traditional Navajo Native American home. It is modernized with all of todays needs. Once you step inside of our Hogan you can picture what it would be like to live in a traditional Hogan. A Hogan is a hexagon building with no indoor plumbing or electricity. It would have a wood burning stove in the center of the room used for cooking and heating. Lucky for yo,u we have indoor plumbing as well as heat and air and a kitchenette furnished with a range, small refrigerator and microwave. Our hogan also has a washer and dryer inside the unit. If you like stars than this is the place for you! The stars at night come out large and bright and just last week we saw the milky way in full glow. At night you will hear the sounds of coyotes and more than likely you will see a jack rabbit hopping around. We have elk that roam our property as well. Bring your hiking shoes and take a hike up our prayer rock where you can see views for miles. You can also look at our Sand Stone formations. We are a quick 30 minute drive to Chaco Canyon National Park.
