House, 4 Bedrooms + Office, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)
Bob and Ellie both were born, went to school, and got married betweeen New York City, the Hamptons, and Connecticut, but our story really begins with Bob's father who sailed his 1948 Alden Schooner down to the Caribbean. Passing by St. Lucia, he saw the perfect spot to call home. Bob inherited his father's love of adventure and the sea and he & Ellie enjoy Villa Mandoo when it is not being usesd by guests. Our son, Brett and daughter, Cara, also visit annually with their spouses and all the grandkids. We have a blast snorkling in the cove, swimming in the pool, taking hiking trips all over the island, and of course, walking over to the Winjammer Landing Resort for Happy Hour!
Owner purchased this House in 1965
Why Owner chose Gros Islet
Mr. Morgan, Sr. chose to build on Couti Cove because the property sits on a saddle of land, with sea views north and south and offering an almost constant tropical breeze. A 5 to 15 minute drive will get you to most of the activities visitors would enjoy on a 'daily' basis: beaches, restaurants, shopping, golf, hiking, riding, kite sailing, as well as the smaller airport in Castries, George Charles. We like to take day-long excursions to visit the Pitons and some of the other nature attractions farther south, but be located in the north where more is going on. We can walk down to our cove for snorkling, over to the sandy beach across the peninsula in 5 minutes, or around the corner to the Windjammer with watersports, shops and restaurants in less that 10 minutes.

Yes and no
When we arrived our party was very disappointed. The house is older and in need of updating and general maintenance. The kitchen was very basic and not what you would expect for a vacation home. The house is in need of an exterminator service as we routinely saw bugs and evidence of “ lodgers” in the draws. Please be aware that there is no A/C. On most evenings due to the breeze we were ok, but when there wasnt it was hot in the bedrooms. The ceiling fans were inadequate. That all being said, slowly but surely we began to fall in love with the property. We soon realized that if your looking for luxury, this is not the place. But if your looking for outstanding views, a privacy, relaxing atmosphere and a place to slow down and enjoy friends and family and get a feel for the real St Lucia- this is the place. If you told me on day 1&2 I would ever return , I would call you crazy. But I fell in love with the property, the entertaining cove, and the ability to walk to windjammer to hang with the Tourists. I hope the owner does the necessary maintenance needed, because this property is too beautiful and special. Now knowing what I know, Id go back as soon as possible ❤️ Id also like to thank the housekeeper Marie and her husband Anthony. So very nice, and make sure to ask her to cook you a dinner or lunch. Absolutely delicious! . Hint, bring mosquito repellent, noseeums are brutal in the evening
Beautiful Villa Mandoo
We had a lovely experience in St. Lucia. The views from the Villa are awesome. The property is very comfortable and quiet. Marie Ann and Anthony were very helpful. It was a wonderful trip!
Glad you enjoyed your visit, come again soon!
My family of 5 (children late teens/early 20s) had a fabulous Christmas and New Years stay at Mandoo. The house is exactly as you see in the photos. It might not be fancy, but it more than compensates with comfort, space and the most incredible location. The house is perfectly situated on the saddle of a peninsula with ocean views in both directions. The grounds are extensive so you feel unconstrained and relaxed. Rooms were spacious and had great views. Love the outdoor shower too. Kitchen is functional but if you are a Julia Childs you would be feeling constrained. Beds were comfortable. We did rent a car through Guys (they dropped it at the house) as we wanted the freedom to explore, but used Owen's taxi service to get to and from the airport (which was a good decision). Activities that we can highly recommend include:
Jus Sail: private 1/2 day sailing on beautifully restored Carriacou Sloop
Exodus: private motor boat charter for 1/2 day to take us down to Pitons
Zip Lining: If you haven't done before, it's a great setting. Try to avoid the cruise ship crowd.
Aquaholics Kite Surfing in Cas em Bas - what a rush, and fantastic setting
Cas em Bas hiking with most stunning ocean views and secluded beaches
Visit to Marigold bay
Visit to Anse Couchon for snorkeling and/or scuba
We also used Windjammer for beaching and walked down the cove from there to East Winds Inn beach as its more secluded. Weather was fantastic. Went to a lot of different restaurants and was impressed with quality of food for the Carribean. Mary Anne and Anthony were very helpful and unobtrusive. All in it was a great vacation. We feel extremely lucky that the Morgans have made their house available. It is quite the spot.
Our two families (4 adults 4 children) had the best holiday ever at Villa Mandoo. It was going to be a special trip because our husbands were crossing the Atlantic to Rodney Bay from Gran Canaria in the ARC 2014 sailing rally, but it turned out to be the so much more; a holiday of a lifetime that we will all remember forever! We spent 3 weeks over christmas and new year at the villa; enjoying big family meals on the covered terrace with beautiful views of the sea on both sides, a constant cooling breeze, lovely big garden with fruit trees, the long pool which the children (ages 10-16) and adults alike were constantly in, the snorkelling at the bottom of the garden was fab; I saw Lion fish, Puffer fish, octopus, lobster and many other beautiful tropical fish. We couldn't believe at luck at finding such a fantastic place. Our friend's boat was able to anchor in Cuti cove as well, so we all swam out to it to many times, and were able to watch the local fishermen do their thing. It's very private apart from the odd visiting boat from windjammer to go snorkelling. We all loved just hanging out at the villa playing games, eating, swimming in the pool and the sea, watching the sunsets. The outside showers were great, especially at sunset. All bedrooms have their own bathroom and the beds are very comfy and big too, and the wi-fi was handy for the teenagers! Marie Ann and Anthony were helpful and it was great to have someone to do some chores. On christmas day about 20 of us had a BBQ lunch on the terrace, so you can see it is a great place for entertaining; spacious with enough tables, chairs for everyone! On New Years Eve we were able to see the fireworks from the Windjammer resort as well as the ones in Rodney Bay.
All in all it really felt like Paradise at Villa Mandoo! Thanks to the first Mr Morgan for building a great house in such a fantastic location on the lush island of St Lucia.
Perfect family hideaway
Well, we are back in Canada and wanted to sincerely thank you, your wife and the dynamic duo of Marie-Anne and Anthony for a memorable and fantastic vacation on behalf of our family, my sister’s family and my mother.
We thoroughly enjoyed St. Lucia and your paradise hideaway allowed us to experience everything we had hoped. The pool kept the boys busy for hours at a time while the snorkeling off your property was a pleasant break from lazing around your pristine gardens. It didn't hurt that we had a choice of several beaches just walking distance from your home and the grocery stores were just minutes away by car. We toured the area and enjoyed every bit of it. The memories we will keep from this lovely island and your beautiful home will remain with us for many years to come. Hope to make it out there again one day soon!
Thank you for everything.
